San Dago, baby! My bone stock 2005 Dodge 2500 pulls 12,000 lbs up the I-8 Viejas grade at 63mph at 1900 rpm. The fan is the secondary fan and it is normal.

Pull the hill Again and watch the temperature. They get louder at about 217 deg. Sounds pretty normal running the air conditioner and cooling the truck down. I have an 18’ 3500 srw on 37’s and 4.10 gears with a carli 3” lift and sway bar. Super smooth. The stock suspension is very rigid. The truck is not deleted. The Truck has plenty of power but you can tell it’s being held back. Eddie I’m not far from you. Will send you a message.

You gotta take it out of tow haul mode if you want to shift your way. I always use tow haul in city and then shift myself on the highway. I’ve got a 3500srw but built 68rfe locally if you want to try it.

Bags with too much air on any truck will be extremely rough. I added air bags to my 99 Dodge 2500 to inflate when I was towing my 24' flatbed with tractor, over inflate bags and it was a very rough ride. My new Ram 3500 dually has the auto air ride on the rear, much different. My Ram is 3500 Limited crew cab, LB, HO 6.7, Aisin trans geared 3:73. It is a dream to drive empty and towing.

Hey Eddie, my cousins 2014 LongHorn 3500 dually definitely makes that same fan noise when were on our way to Cantil CA, the desert we camp at. When we climb through Tehachapi the clutch fan goes on and off. When it snows and the weather is super cold, the fan doesn't turn on.

Ford's the one with the zoom, and the sound is your clutch fan, it's normal but very annoying. And a soft ride and ram don't usually go together. And when you put it into manual selection the number on the right is the top gear you limit the truck to, so if you have a 4 on the left and a 5 on the right, it's in 4th gear and can shift to 5th but you locked out 6th.

Eddie it's your clutch fan that's kicking on mine does it with my gooseneck horse trailer but there is one thing that you can do is to delete your thermo bypass valve located on the right side under the passenger door the clutch fan usually kick over when the 68rfe hits 185 degrees it's a protection thing added to gen 4s I know this because I had to constantly replace mine. Let me know if this makes sense or not.

I’m sure someone’s already said this but with a big load and hard or big strain loads on these trucks with the 68RFE it’s really best that they play it safe and jump down to 4th gear cause it is a tougher gear. Both 5th and 6th in these are overdrive gears and they are usually the first to go due to highway pulls and excessive abuse. You can get probably 200k out of a 68 with a stock truck but if you delete and tune and try to make big power and have a heavy foot with these transmissions that’s when you can run into problems but that’s expected when you are making more power. Great trucks in all, I am a ram man.

The fan is temperature driven by a computer controlled fan clutch. It comes on (starts to engage) around 217 degrees (coolant temp) and turns off (disengages) around 195. It is normal for it to cycle on and off when climbing a hill especially with A/C on and hot ambient temps. Nothing to worry about.

Eddie. I’d say you were so bouncy because of the 50 psi in air bags to get level and not using your weight distribution hitch. That’s a lot of tongue weight picking up on the front axle of that truck. Also. I don’t know how much the fan was actually locking up in that video but it is normal for it to kick on under load. I never keep anything stock, but this truck will be the first to stay stock mechically. I bought a HD truck not a toyota. I figured it could take a beating but I was wrong. Heck even my 16 5.0 f150 could easily handle the 750hp it had on it when I got rid of it. You throw 650hp @ this turd & you had better replace the head studs 😂😂😂😂😂

I love my Ram, lol, even undeleted it has been insanely reliable (only vehicle I've ever owned that has gone over two years without one single issue) -- the ride can be remedied with a new set of coils and a good pair of shocks, same with the traction and torsion bars. Not to mention, you'll be looking at a 2019+, which have had massive improvements. Let's be honest here, it's the Cummins that everyone is after, they just pull like freight trains, are crazy reliable, and super easy to work on. I've always said I'd much rather have a solid engine, and be forced to build the (unfortunately) weak 68RFE, which once built is fine for 99% of daily driver builds.

The fan sounds just like my 2014 after a long day's work in humid weather. I personally like the sound of the fan, but I'm kinda weird... Also, my 2500 wasn't too bad in terms of ride when stock. Deflating the tires helps a good amount, but a aftermarket sway bar really helped with the overall ride. The stock ones were way too stiff.
