It's going to be a wild finish. Hopefully, the lead outs and sprinters make those sharp turns.

great preview but i disagree that Philipsen and Merlier are the fastest right now. While Philipsen’s form is hard to judge due to the fewer sprints he appeared on this season. Solid in Brugge-De Panne and Scheldeprijs but not nearly as dominant as last year. He was, however, amazing in spring monuments and these races might signal a transition to a different kind of sprinter that can endure longer, hillier routes before the bunch spring (a la Mads Pedersen). De Lie was incredible in the Belgian championship, beating both compatriots and is the sprinter to keep an eye on this Tour. Hard to judge on that alone though, given he hasn’t contested in a lot of competitive sprints so far this season. Merlier may be better than ever but the true number one is Jonathan Milan and I will base my this on what we saw in Giro this year because it was recent and showed the clash of the entire sprinting elite (minus Philipsen). Both Milan and Merlier won 3 stages each but Milan was second four times, one of those occasions was the last stage where he incredibly managed to come back after a mechanical 8km before the finish. And Merlier finished fifth or lower on the sprints he didn’t win. Similar situation in Tirreno Adriatico earlier this year. Given their absence in the Tour, we might see a close fight for the green jersey between De Lie, Philipsen, Bauhaus, maybe even Pedersen and quickly recovering Van Aert.

Scott, I was confused why Bini was not on the wheel of the Intermarché riders on the final Kilometers. I think Bini answered my question on the post race interview. He said they chose MIKE TEUNISSEN for the sprint. But when Bini saw him lagging he said he might as well try and won the race. The question to you is, why do you think they chose Mike for this specific stage? I would have thought it would suite more to Bini because he won Italian stage in the past.

I think van der Poel will win if there is dead moment in the lead out.
