​@@okk2776 There's a million better ways of expressing his feelings towards the product than saying "I hate it". The definition of hate is: "Intense hostility and aversion usually deriving from fear, anger, or sense of injury. " They're just grooming products for men, how could he have such intense emotions from them? It just makes him look childish, like a 6 year old saying he hates broccoli. He could've simply said "I'd rather not invest because..." and then list up the reasons he said after saying he hated them. Point gets across without getting emotional/hurting the entrepreneur's feelings. Oh well, he only made himself look bad, at least the other guy reacted well and with maturity to it..

The teacher is an absolute gentleman. He showed class when Touker roasted his products and thanked him for the constructive criticism. I hope his business thrives and so does his day job.

Dragon's Den is an entertainment show first and foremost and the editing reflects that. Touker was extremely pleasant on the day as were the rest of the Dragons and the team that produce the show. The pitch is edited down from a 60 minute discussion into a 10 minute segment. The business was initially set up as an experiment with no intention of making millions. None of us involved in the business were 'naive' for appearing on the show - we were approached by a researcher from the BBC asking us to consider appearing; and initially refused citing the fact that it was just a small retail business. We relented when they called back saying they were keen on the branding and thought we would be an 'interesting' company to feature. Thanks to those of you who posted supportive and positive comments (or even those that were constructive criticism). It was a great experience and not everything in life can be measured in pounds and pence. Forget the investment the main goal on the day was "Don't look daft on national TV"! 😂 Take care everyone.

I think you did great, you look amazing, your products are in high demand (just look at dollar shave club) and there will always be a market for good quality male grooming products and tools. Yes it's a small business, but I am extremely blown away by your ability to handle such a massive workload, just for a dream. I wish you and your new wife well, and although I have no use for this stuff, i wish you the best!

I think Touker was trying to get through to him and knew he had to be harsh to do it, been gentle with this guy would not work.

This guy was very well put-together, respectful, honest, well-spoken and hardworking. The lack of grace that Touker displayed was actually quite appalling. This man did not deserve that scathing review.

But, they're running a business, not a handhold treehugger happiness club. The product sucks because he's importing low-quality wholesale gunk from the US, while there are far superior products available locally. So this "entrepreneur" bypasses a shitton of local market AND brings the quality surrounding the pomade and male high quality hair products, down. THAT's why he got told, not because he looked good. Also he wasn't hard-working as he made 1500 GBP net profit in his first year. I make that in 30 hours and I'm NOT well paid whatsoever.

I love how this show is "uh, why don't you just not work and focus completely on this" to a secondary school teacher who funny enough probably doesn't have that sort of money to work with. I stupidity I feel is a lot of the successful pitches are for companies on the verge of success anyway. These aren't risky investments its just a bunch of rich wankers trying to get their finger in the pie of the next big thing.

One of the most likeable guys to enter the den. Seems very genuine.

Dear Touker, As a business owner that was able to successfully transition from being employed to self employed, I feel for the poor guy after you saying you hate his product when you were his last hope for investment. I've seen you do wonderful things and give fantastic advice for free but this was a lost opportunity for you to help a good man out but I'm afraid that you may have insulted him and possibly publicly damaged him. I like the ruggedness of the shoe polish packaging and I'm sure other men would like it because It's not feminine looking. I think for the level of respect that he displayed you could have pointed out the obvious reasons not to invest and that was the company was too young for investment, his job was causing time allocation problems for growth of the business and low turnover. I thank the other dragons for returning the respect that the guy gave and deserved.

This is one of the things that makes this show kinda hard for me to take it serious at 100%. I love it so much, but I wanna have full respect for the dragons and sometimes they don't express their opinions in a polite way. The only reason I love this show is because is way more authentic than any other tv show like any gordon ramsay's bullshit shows. If you wanna be straightforward and it may sound too serious, that's okay. But the guy even counter your argument touker, like is it so difficult to say "just my personal opinion, the branding is not my taste, but that's just my pov"

@@irusu. As a sidenote, the original Kitchen Nightmares (Not USA) was pretty authentic and far less dramatized. It didn't have any of the dumb sound effects or strange reaction shots. The worst you get is a long silence, which just comes across as more authentic

@@corpgov That would make sense but on the other hand, he could have gone through drive through McDonalds on the way to the den to find they forgot to give him his apple pie and BBQ sauce for his nuggets. We will never know what triggered that reaction.

All the other dragons turn on Touker at the end. That "the blade was probably made in Germany" retort was such a touché moment. I think it definitely caught him off guard.

Shocked at Touker! This guy was a real gent and fine role model to his students.

As a teacher for 42 years, I really admire this guy. For most of that time I tinkered with side businesses. I think that, if he could find a partner who would work at this with him, it might work. My side businesses never amounted to anything more than a hobby, because teaching is very consuming and I’m not a great businessman.

What a gracious way to respond to Mr Touker's harsh criticism. Good on you, Mr Kevin Moore. God bless, sir!

I hate the mentality of some of the dragons where they're like "what you're business isn't making you loads of money and you haven't given up your only source of income yet" Not everyone has the bank balance of the dragons, we can't all give up our jobs and put all our time on a project that isn't making money yet

Nah they’re right. I wouldn’t start a business while working full time that’s just crazy. Maybe a hobby business like it was at that point but not a serious, investable business. In his position I’d work another 5-10 years saving every penny then launch a business full time.

I truly believe that if this guy promised to quit his teaching job, he would most likely have gotten any investment if he promised to put 100% of himself behind the business. But on the other hand, it would have been a great shame if he did quit his Job, as he seems to come across as a great teacher. I really hope he can prove them all wrong and pursue both jobs and is very successful at it, as he seems very capable to me, so the best of luck with everything mate. I really hope you make it.

If he wants investment, he needs to get himself to a point where he can put 100% of his time into the business. That might mean saving up a fund to live off, or it might mean developing the business to a degree of profitability where it can support him before seeking investment.

Either your side hustle starts to make enough money to become your full-time job, or you leave your job and hope for the best. Being able to take extended breaks from work is a very privileged position to be in.

sam 방탄 That’s true but if your single and working it’s definitely possible just live in the cheapest accommodation you can find and live like you have nothing and save everything you can/ work ridiculously hard to make as much as you can a side hustle will help to let u save even more and if your wanting to start a business you can probably buy and sell things to double your money/ investment so yes it’s double for most it just takes sacrifice and massive financial personal risk.

@@jamesk8891 Most people barely make enough to support rent and bills though, so saving isn't an option unless you've got another source of income like a business or side hustle that's profitable. Even saving enough to live on for a month takes people a year or more, so being able to save enough to live on for several months to start a business is almost impossible.

Thousands of people run more than one successful business at one time. The man he most wanted to invest in his product was the only one who hated it, and how sad that must have felt for him.

Dragons whenever anyone who pitches has another job: "Nope. Quit your job right away, work on this full time." Dragons: "Oh yeah I'm working with 5,000,000 other businesses at the moment"

Touker is such a goober. He always seems so confuddled and then he has a eureka moment and declares himself out or in.

I'm in, therefore I'm out; and because I'm out, I'm in. ... I'm out.

In a way I found most of the Dragons were reasonable, especially Sarah and Peter, because investment doesn't suit this business at this stage. But heck Touker felt *really* out of line here. The entrepreneur was so polite and gracious and Touker was unnecessarily rude for no reason! And I don't usually mind a bit of spiciness from the Dragons but they usually have something that set them off. 'I don't like it' is reasonable but Touker really had a go at the guy. No need! I might go try this guy's products out now to give him a bit of support. Anybody know where to find them? Are they still going? Hope he is!

The guy has taught his students best with his attitude once he left the Den. Knocks are a part of life, it's how you take them that matters!

Damn I don’t know how he didn’t start crying as he walked out. If the guy I looked up to just flat out said he hated my product, that’s exactly what I’d do.

The dragons want someone who has given up their job for the business before they are successful but when people come in who have sob stories about how they gave up everything for the business, ended up in debt and got their house repossessed they don't exactly jump in to invest in them so what do they want??!

Isn't it bit rich coming from Touker where manufacturing of his brand is offshore? And do I sense professional jealousy from Touker as his brand was in the process of developing similar grooming products (as mentioned by him in Mo bro's episode?)

yes but he has control over the whole operation and can make decisions when he likes based on the economics and regulations of the country in which his products are based or manufactured. Thats the difference, that plus he has a full time job as teacher, aint gonna work, especially on such small profits.

Damned if they do, damned if they don’t!!!! I have watched enough of these episodes now to realize that the criticism they showed to this man was unwarranted: 3/4 times someone comes in and pitches an idea/produce, and the Dragons say something along the lines of “you want me to invest to pay your salary”. This time around you have someone that actually has a side job, and all of a sudden it’s a problem. I get that going wholesale distribution is a big responsibility...but it’s not unheard of for someone to go wholesale and still have another job until the distro really picks up and they can then rely on that wholesale distro.

He is a real gentleman who is very eloquent and presentable. I really wish things work out for him.

Exactly, and the guy wasn't willing to go full time either, Touker was the only one being genuine, he knew it was a terrible investment and he was proven right

Probably one of the most saturated markets out there, the anount of these products is unbelievable.

It's not so much that he had a job, it's that he clearly loves teaching as a career, and thus was never going to be fully present within the business. And I think it's totally fair to not want to invest because of that.

@@WobblesandBean you can love your main career and still be invested in your business. If the guy quit teaching he wouldn't be able to do anything. Not wanting to invest in someone because they don't hate their jobs is a horrible reason to not invest. Its also contradictory because these guys have criticized these people for not having a job and using the money from the business to support themselves. There was this one episode where Peter basically said "So you want me to invest in your company so I can support your salary?" People need to eat. I dont know what they want.

Kevin took it really well. The dragons saved him a lot of pain down the road. He will succeed in other ways. What better way to have such a great guy teaching teenage students, he looks great and I am sure Kevin will be able to help his students steer there life and goals to what direction they want to go in life. That is a far greater reward than what any amount of cash could give.

What a noble guy. Took the blow with the right attitude.

Poor guy, depending on how popular of a teacher he is at school, he’ll get Touker references thrown at him or the opposite.. “Touker is a tw*t”

You just demotivated that person telling him that all the work done in his free time was waste and not worthy. You and your English Brands... Wow , i was in Big Bear earlier this week and saw these products in a boutique and was going to buy them for my boyfriend but decided not to. @@SiLoMixMaster in that case, the investor should quit their other investments, or the entrepreneur is entitled to only put in as much effort as the % they own. If the investor gets 20-40%, the entrepreneur only needs to put in 60-80% effort. Happy? Yeah, thought not 😏
