It seems like every KZreadr is crashing their Avata 2, which is a real shame as it sets a certain expectation. Hey beginners, the first thing you should know about flying your Avata 2 in manual mode is the importance of the "Pause" button located on the top left of the controller. Always keep a finger ready to press it. If you're ever confused about what the drone is doing, hitting that button will halt everything, giving you a moment to regroup. Even if your drone is upside down and plummeting towards the ground at 50 mph, pressing this button will stabilize it and wait for you to calm down. Remember, this button is your lifeline; prioritize it, especially before attempting any risky maneuvers.

that button is the very reason i bought the avata 2 as my first fpv drone instead of building one for less money. such a gamechanger for beginners

Indeed the pause button or switching into S/N mode is a game changer to save one from trouble. I learned it the hard way after first crashing once into grass, mostly because nobody highlights this as best practice for beginners! 😂🔥

Yep, I am not doing manual yet still practising in the simulator. But I am practising pressing that pauze button in sport mode all the time. If pressing that button becomes muscle memory then that will safe me later in manual!

Thank you. You are absolutely right. I should have brought it back first.
Thanks for the video. I'm new to the drone scene after seeing someone fly a custom drone at a tech conference. He advised me to buy this one, and advised me to get a warranty from the vendor. After buying it I noticed DJI had a replacement plan that better aligned to my goals, and I canceled the vendor warranty and got the DJI warranty. It's nice to see this and learn how reliable that warranty is. I am a more cautious flyer and haven't received my FPV Remote yet. I've only hit a few tree limbs so far and I'm in good shape. I wish I had more time to fly and that there were more places to do so near me. I plan to post my videos to KZread as well. o7

@@ChadB Very awesome. I've come to the conclusion to "always bring the quads and be ready to fly" for when things like that pop up. We were going to a shindig at a wedding venue last weekend. I showed up a bit early brought the quads and am super glad I did. The flight was a blast and video came out great.
Great video Chad!
As a intermediate level pilot, manual mode still feels like the TRUE razors edge of this cinewhoops capabilities. So motion controller works PERFECTLY for what this drone is TRULY intended for. To each their own choice. But SPEED isn't always a positive for a plastic drone + collisions. Fly safe💪💯👍🏾
EMAXX is an amazing real life sim!!! Taught me muscle memory!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
First rule of flying a drone: No matter how little the crash, you go get it and exam it for damage. The second thing I wanted to say is that when you flipped it into manual mode the green dots that you need to align before it switches it to manual mode were pretty close to the middle, so that was just bad on DJI's end tbh.

I'm wondering if that's based on the angle he set earlier. I have flown in manual a few times without changing the angle and my left stick needs to go down a bit more than his to engage manual

Thats because avata’s aren’t meant for freestyle…there not meant for the crashes and beatings a legit FPV drone is meant to handle.. just build your own cinewhoop people. DJI is a money grabber.. they don’t care about the hobby..
Nice flight i just got the avata 2 what a fun drone. The motion controller is great to get use to the speed, depth and also fun to go explore your spot. Full manual give you more option that for sure, but better start slow and build your skill up.

Nice flying. I love the Avatas and have both 1 and 2. Things to keep in mind; 1. These are highly sensored, automated drones. If you crash, something may be knocked out of calibration. Need to throughly check out the drone after a crash. 2. Compared to any other modern drone the Avata 2 doesn’t fly acro very well. It’s ok, but if I am going to fly acro I have much better drones for that. I love the motion controller and view the Avata 2 as an explorer drone. Love your videos.
Nice Video. Dont forget the pause button.. Thanks for sharing your DJI Care Refresh experience.

Yeah...it happens after every crash. It seems there is no way to disable it.
I just got my controller 3. The A2 allowed me to take off in manual mode no problem but when I attempted to land in manual it tried to absolutely kill itself, in fact, had it not slammed itself upside down and shut off, there would likely have been refresh service required. Nothing I did was shutting the motors down, finally, hitting the pause button is when it turned over and hit the ground full throttle inverted. Thankfully it was less than 18" off the ground when it flipped & dove in so no damage resulted. Going to switch to normal or sport modes for take off / landing until I understand this puzzle a little better. Cheers
Great vidéo ! where did you buy the green propeller guards for your avata 2 ? From France 🇨🇵
Thank you
After a crash you should always inspect the drone before next flight.
You do exactly what I did last Saturday: Power Loop and crashed.
Thanks
I broke my 3 Pro within 30 seconds of my first flight lol Refresh is a blessing. I know a few people who've had fly away and crashes etc and DJI is super good with replacing
Would I be right in thinking the beep made you think that you'd changed it from sport mode into manual but it didn't actually change and then clicking whatever you clicked again made it go into manual which you weren't expecting? Looked like absolutely rock solid flying to that point though, well done!
Thumbs up. Where did you get your guards for Avata 2 please and is there a guard for the camera?

Great flying! 11:15 happen to me flying the original Avata, switched it from normal to manual and it lost control and slammed into wall. Im sure it was pilot error. I have the Avata 2 (flown twice) wont fly til I get Dobo's bumpers and ND filters. It's too fragile.
@sandys-channel
Ай бұрын
I really like a lot about the avata 2, but needing to put bumpers on prop guards because the prop guards are too fragile is kind of wild to me. There are plenty of cinewhoops with similar or thinner designed prop guards that can hold up to a crash. Its unfortunate that its so not possible for the prop guards to be replaced by the user, but I guess they really want to sell that DJI care.
Great flying! Obviously sport mode with the MC doesn't compare to manual mode with the RC but with a whole lot of practice on the MC, you can get really good and it's a different kind of flying. You should take some time to really get to know the MC and what it can do, especially with head tracking.
Good video - what kind of protection have you put on your new drone?

Great flying! I like that DJI is making accessible options that anyone can pick up and use with little training. I plan to test the motion RC when I get my Avata 2, and maybe ill have some fun. But the fact is time spent on the motion RC is a waste if you are trying to build pilot skills, or if you ever want to use your drone in a remotely professional way. The motion RC is less precise, less safe and doesn't teach you any skills that transfer to the rest of the field of UAV flight.
its very bold move to just mark it hover after crash not onlynfor turning back but continuing flight i would fly crashed drone inlynif its somewhere i cant collect... İnthought it fell down while making acrobatics so i was like will it crash doing this flip entire video 😅

Ай бұрын
Hey Mike...yup, I've been very busy, so I don't have much time to fly and shoot videos. Hopefully, things will lighten up in the upcoming months to where I can go out more.
Would the break button have saved you?
Ahh man that sucks. Yeah, you accidentally hit Manual mode with a -15degree camera and probably get it Normal mode stick inputs. The more Avata 2 videos I see the more I realize I don't need it, even as a Travel quad. I had a much nastier crash with my Pavo25 V2 last week (pretty fast into a metal sign). I'm waiting on a new motor - sadly the spares aren't available in the US. The bottom "lip" of the O3 is cracked so that camera may never take an ND filter again. Hopefully it's otherwise fine (the other motors spin and the O3 works).
I have a question for anyone that provide some guidance on manual mode and rate and expo settings. I have been flying RC planes and drones for some years. but this is my first Avata(2). I have flown sims in "Acro" (manual) mode. I've flown Avata2 only in sport because I find the default Rate and Expo setting problematic especially in gusty winds (>16mph). I understand rates and expo are a personal choice but If I wanted a setting i.e. that gave me more time to react what might those settings look like? Thanking in advance for your time and consideration. HFTA
Bro you can press emergency break
Nice video! A comment not about the content, but about the frame rate you mentioned at the beginning. Exporting a 50fps video as 24fps actually made the video look juddery, exactly what you were trying to avoid... Maybe it's because I'm in Europe, but anyway I think most people are going to watch this on their phones (and some on computers), they all support 60Hz / 120Hz refresh rates, so usually I find that 30/60 fps videos exported as 30/60 works best. However, if I recall correctly, the Avata 2 doesn't support 60fps, but instead 24/30/50/100...? Not sure. Anyway that's just my experience watching this otherwise very nice video :)
@ChadB
Ай бұрын
Thanks. The video was exported at 25fps. It probably looked jittery because of the high shutter speed. I didn't have ND filters at the time I filmed this video. I will have an ND filter review video out soon, which will show a better example. Or you can check out this video with the first Avata. kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZmykvMGqmJackcY.htmlsi=RvxmGGBHaRRpcN-5
it's interesting, seems like 97% of the crashes happen when switching in and out of manual mode
My advice to current DJI aerial tripod operators wanting to learn to fly proper FPV: buy something that can actually take a crash, and more importantly something that you can repair minor damage yourself. There's plenty of great BetaFlight-based BNF platforms out there that come fitted with a DJI O3 unit. Learning FPV means crashing. A. Lot. A BNF that's durable and fixable is the best way to spend your dosh. Once you've learned to fly in Acro Mode with few if any Walks of Shame, _then_ plonk down the really big bucks on your Avata 2. Gotta learn to walk before you try to run.

All things aside it appropriate when flying anything in the air to understand regardless of safety features. Bottom line is in your mind you should automatically assume that it’s going straight into Manuel mode if switch is flipped one way. The stick line up process is precautionary and only meant to set you up to fly level instead of full throttling.

Nice flying! Near the beginning, you mentioned your frame rate at 25fps. I normally record videos at 30fps, but the Avata 2 looks slightly jittery at lower frame rates. Like how yours turned out. Ready Set Drone's latest video talks about this if you want to see examples, side by side. Would 50fps work for you? I think you'll notice that the goggles feed as well as the final video will be buttery smooth at higher frame rates. I wish we could film at different frame rates as what we see in the goggles. You fly with amazing confidence (that tree just grabbed you out of the air 😅), but I think you'll agree that higher frame rates will make your flying experience better. Even with ND filters, the Avata 2 wasn't as smooth of an experience in the goggles at lower frame rates. Sorry about the crash into the rocks! 🫤
Engage emergency brake!
