My First Time Flying the Avata 2 In Manual Mode, How Many Crashes?

The video showing how to change over into manual mode was done by @readysetdrone and is here if you want to watch it: • DJI AVATA 2 Manual Mod...
I was wanting to do this with the original Avata, but after a bunch of videos talking about how it was not a great drone to fly in manual mode, I decided against it. Now with the Avata 2 in my possession, and having learned how to make the drone fly in manual mode, I felt it was time to spread my wings and fly. I really never thought that it could be that difficult to figure out after using the flight simulator a handful of times. I think I may have bit off a bit more than I can chew with this idea. But you have to risk it for the biscuit. Come along and follow my journey on learning how to fly in manual mode!

    NIce vid dude! BUT 2 suggestions: 1. The pause button (left button) is your PANIC BUTTON - if you think you're introuble, just push that so the drone will regain its auto level position 2. NEVER DO THE FLIPS if you did not adjust your Gains - DJI's default is very slow and for Normal or Sport mode purposes only. Practice on high altitude so you have plenty of time to recover or push the PANIC BUTTON - Anyways great vid and happy flying!

    nice demonstration on why you must first learn with the simulator and with smaller drones and in areas without flying over people or busy roads. - first practice in simulator in ACRO mode! - then get really good at flying fast and moving around objects in sport mode, speed limited to about 65 km/h with some wind in the back but that's already fun flying low to the ground. - while practicing sport mode and simulator, press that pause button all the time so it becomes muscle memory. This pause button if you get that in muscle memory will save you hunders of dollars of repair costs. Unlike a normal quad, you break this thing, it's over. Only DJI can repair it. - if you fly simulator then you will quickly realize how important the camera angle is. If you want to fly forward the quad has to pitch down, but now you are looking at the ground. So to fly forward while still having the horizon in the middle you need to pitch the camera up. - So extremely important that the camera angle of the avata has some UP ANGLE before you go in to manual. Otherwise while flying forward you are also flying down. In sport mode this is totally different. In sport mode you fly with 20 or 25 DOWN angle. So if you are use to 20 to 25% down angle and then switch to manual YOU ARE GOING TO CRASH. Unless you got that pause button in muscle memory. - When you are ready to switch to manual you keep the BANK LIMITED ENABLED IN THE BEGINNING. YOUR FIRST JOB IN MANUAL IS TROTTLE MANAGEMENT. - Finally when you have some time in simulator, when pressing that pauze button comes automatically, when you have flown in manual with correct up angle and banks limits on. Then is the time to take the bank limits off. Come on guys, do it the right way. Safe you money and time not being able to fly.

  • @JJDrones

    @JJDrones

    10 күн бұрын

    That's a great question, and when I switch from manual to normal mode I use the pause button first, I'm sure you don't have to, but it's the way I do it. So it will freeze the drone in the air. After you unlock it then with the stick in the down position, yes it will just descend. But you can position the stick to the center so it functions as it typically does in normal mode. Understand that the throttle will function completely different from normal to manual regardless of the stick being sprung. It took me more than a couple of hours in the sim before it started making sense, too. I've flown 3D helicopters in the equivalent of "full acro" mode and those are pretty challenging, but the inputs are very different in places, so I think I was fighting some of that muscle memory when trying full acro in a quad in the sim. The thing that finally made it click was when I realized that both sticks to the left or right together is what make it do a flat yaw. Once I realized that, it was just a matter of experimenting with different amounts of roll to do different degrees of turning. Give it a few more hours in the sim - it will click eventually and when it does, it's tons of fun. I'm sure it will be fun when I'm finally brave enough to try on the Avata 2. I'm ready - I'd just like to get to a more open area for the first few flights.

    That's what care refresh is for. It's a bit out of order telling someone what to do with their own property. This drone is designed to crash - it even has a turtle mode for that specific reason. And after 8 crashes it is still working just fine. If you are this concerned about someone you don't even know crashing their own cinewhoop and you have to save up for a whole year to buy one yourself then, with all due respect, I would spend your money more wisely and buy something else as this isn't for you. It's not a case of if you will crash but when as you WILL crash many, many times no matter how long you sit on a simulator.

    @@JJDrones You're welcome. It had to be said. I've sub'd too BTW. Also - best to always take off and land in normal mode. Get high up before switching to manual to allow yourself time to react to any loss of control by quickly pressing the pause button then resume manual when ready. That will save you some more crashes but do learn the best way that suits you and have fun.

    My wife in the next room working on her art started laughing at your comments. You took off the safety feature that stops it from flipping and flying out of range. I guess you do not need the training the wheels.

    These are the kind of people who caused drone rules to be more strict. DJI should remotely disable his drone. Someone reported this idiot.

    @@JJDrones lol..... I remember when I first attempted acro for the first time. In comparison you looked like a pro! I admire your attitude of not giving up. That's the way you gotta be and u will be flying acro in no time. As they say in the community "if your not crashing, then your not flying" Peace brother.

    @steve16171617 peace bro, you know the second time I flew I only crashed twice and the third I was quick on the pause button so I didn't crash at all, but only needed it a couple of times. I plan on doing a short video of my progress soon, but I'm learning to love acro! I can definitely say that I'm going to keep trying until I get it!

    Look like you don’t know what are you doing? I prefer you start with a normal mode then you try the manual mode . because manual mode doesn’t have GPS lock on position , you will crash a drone or lost your drone that caused your money .

    Try not to learn like that you will cost money crashing that drone because it’s very repairable right now and no accessory part to purchase right now . try to do normal and sport mode catching cinematic footage enjoy your flight before you abuse your drone on manual mode . Remember that is not a $70 drone that is $700 drone.🤔 have fun flying 👍👌🥃🥃
