whats so funny is that i once sat next to david spade on a flight going to cleveland,and david told me about this person who once said buh bye to him on a flight going to LA. he said to me who the heck says buh bye like that? is that person retarded or something?, did they get hit in the head one to many times?
I love the fact that the third crew member comes just to say more "buh bye"s.

I assume because it’s Norm he tried to tell jokes during the flight to lighten the mood so she finally had one for him.
I love that they actively delay people while insisting they are trying to rush them.

I agree. I always made it home to catch the last hour no matter what or always made sure I had access to a TV. A lot of the stars of this era became huge stars and well deserved.RIP Chris Farley and Norm. I was listening to a sports radio show today and they said buh-bye so of course I had to watch it again. The Saturday Night Live now is too political and honestly not funny. Wel done!

I was in initial flight attendant training with Delta around the time this skit aired and they actually showed it to us. It was so damn funny during the tension and tedium of training and meant as a how not to guide for us newbies. I swear that in nearly 29 years of flying I have never said “buh bye “ to passengers as they’ve deplaned. 😆

@@nodramamama838 That’s so funny. I started in the spring of 94 and I’m still sluggin’ sodas. Through all the ups and downs, Delta has been a pretty great place to work, but I definitely put down the the kool-aid during and after bankruptcy. It just ain’t the same. I’m sure if I’d started a few years earlier and hadn’t seen this skit, I would have bombarded folks with the buh-byes. 😜
This skit lives rent free in my head. It’s literally the best one ever!!!
Chris Farley and David Spade had great chemistry, the sketch was for less than 5-10 seconds and still manage to make us laugh

They were friends, I saw David Spade cry talking about him. I've seen Adam Sandler cry about him, and several others. He was so funny, I cried when he died. He and Phil Hartman will forever be two of my favorite comedians.
The 90s SNL was fantastic - the early/mid 90s talent stack was really great, and the late 90s Will Ferrell era was amazing as well
This was an SNL skit? At first I thought it was security footage from a random United Airlines flight. Oh, in that case - very funny!

What's sad is, when this aired, people even in 1994 were already saying that airlines were going downhill with employee attitudes and poor customer service. My parents sure were, because they could remember flying in the 60s , 70s and even 80s when people were still treated with respect. I look at airlines today, and think damn, I thought it was bad back in the 90s, but those days still seem pretty good compared to now.

Monday my flight was supposed to leave at 4:30pm on Spirit. It was delayed to 530 and then 630 and then 645 and then finally 12:15 AM the next day. They gave me a $35 food voucher and a $50 flight voucher. Whenever spirit gives you a voucher is never good for where you need to fly. buh bye

I think they're actually more friendly and responsive than either Spirit or Frontier Airlines flight staff was the last time I flew.

Yeah. When he's really on, which is often, he makes it look incredibly easy. (But it's not.) He's a great pro.

My brother is an airline pilot and his wife a flight attendant. After this first aired my brother would say "buh bye" to her during arguments. And, yes, they're still married.

David Spade got lucky and he found his "voice" and the right character that allows him to shine as a star. What he does is low key but because it's right for him it really works. However he is great in this skit.

Helen Hunt started as a sitcom actress, so she knew comedy. It was Twister & As Good As It Gets that turned her into a legit movie star.
I remember watching this in high school. “Which part didn’t you get, the Ba or the Bye?” became our go to catch phrase 😂
Loved this skit; truly a classic.
And this was in 1994, back when air travel was super easy, barely an inconvenience.

Apollos 02 Aviation industry adopted some traditions / nomenclature from marine industry. However, if a target is acquired little behind his plane, I doubt the aviator will use the local reference of “abaft the beam.”

I know, the first sink skit I ever saw. Loved David Spade!
This SNL cast took so much crap at the time but the sketches have stood the test of time. Still funny a quarter century later.

Is this sketch credited with the buh bye phrase? Only i saw it used by flight attendants in High Anxiety in the 70s.
3:38 “Security! We’re getting off the plane, can we get an escort through the terminal? Thanks! Buh-Bye!”
Look at all the SNL legends in this skit!
My almost two year old always says buh bye and it makes me laugh so hard because it reminds Me of this skit. She came up with buh bye on her own. Lol. I showed her this and she just kept saying it back to them. Lol

William Gregory: Chris Farley, the horribly unfunny John Belushi wannabe, was never funny in any capacity. You are someone who must not have a life.
