Toshiki Yamamoto Heavy Training (150 Snatch, 180 Power C&J) - 2017 WWC Training Hall [4k 60]

Спорт

www.hookgrip.com
Toshiki Yamamoto (山本俊樹), 85kg lifter for Japan, lifting while 4 days out from competition at the 2017 World Championships. Some notes:
-This was his heaviest day in the training hall but he did several other lighter workouts that we only caught pieces of. We didn't do all of the other workouts because of limited camera people and the priority is always to shoot the heaviest sessions going on at any given time.
-As mentioned above, due to limited resources, this workout was actually shot by Ray Everest ( / ray_everest , a weightlifting fan from New Zealand who flew up to worlds to watch. We taught him how to use the camera in about 60 seconds about 3 minutes prior to him shooting this session. He did pretty well as you can see and he shot several more training hall workouts for us as the week went on. Thanks Ray!
-We aren't sure what happened during the squats portion but as you can see he aborted his workout at a light weight. We presume it was irritating some sort of back injury, from the looks of it. However, due to the language barrier, there was no easy way for us to ask him about details. The only Toshiki squat we captured all week above 220kg was the one we put into this video towards the end with 225kg -- his top set from what was mostly a light workout the day before (ie, 5 days out).
-His instagram is here: / toshikis165j205 and his youtube is here: / @squatsenpai1657
-The intro and outro music is Johnny Rock "Back in Time" / johnny-rock-back-in-time

    he has very short femurs, and since weightlifting has tons of squatting, hence his quads size. he has a long torso with long shins and short femurs, that makes his body ideal for squatting but poor for deadlifting since he doesnt have the length and as a result minimal strength from hams and glutes. if you watch closesly his main strength is just the beginning portion of the movement because hes upright and with his short femurs make it very easy during the first pull. beyond that hes instable dipping below the bar, he depends too much on his quads but has little ham and glute strength to hold that position.

    That gives me hope then. I have his proportions, and I guess similar to a lot of asians, but I always felt like my femurs were long compared to my shins, and my legs super short compared to my torso. I always felt more comfortable squatting narrow with neutral feet, so I guess I'll go switch back from flared feet :D

  • @tuptugen

    @tuptugen

    5 жыл бұрын

    Legs/body proportions dont really determine your stance, your hip socket, the depth and an angle of it do. :) Having short femurs and long torso enables one to be more upright in the starting position in the snatch and clean and jerk and also in squatting as the body doesnt have to lean as much to cover the bar. Depends on the mobility too of course. Its also better for the spine and use of legs. Some people are just made for their sport :) But then...look at Usain Bolt or some of the super heavies in weightlifting like Lasha Talakhadze, the dude is the best but proportionally not so much. It just shows that genetics mean nothing. Hard work and deciation matter the most. :)

  • @turkishdelight6032

    @turkishdelight6032

    5 жыл бұрын

    Yeah you right, but for me changing just my stance makes the most observable difference. I'm very mobile in my ankles, but I can only get so much lateral rotation from my hips, bringing my feet in a bit gives me so much more bounce and allows me to utilize my quad dominance more. I felt like I was going to turn to dust every time I experimented with a big powerlifter stance
