Precious Things lyrics:
So I ran faster
But it caught me here
Yes my loyalties turned
Like my ankle
In the seventh grade
Running after billy
Running after the rain
These precious things
Let them bleed
Let them wash away
These precious things
Let them break
Their hold on me
He said you're really an ugly girl
But I like the way you play
And I died
But I thanked him
Can you believe
That sick
Holding on to his picture
Dressing up every day
I want to smash the faces
Of those beautiful boys
Those christian boys
So you can make me cum
That doesn't make you Jesus
These precious things
Let them bleed
Let them wash away
These precious things
Let them break
Their hold on me
I remember
Yes
In my peach party dress
No one dared
No one cared
To tell me
Where the pretty girls are
Those demigods
With their nine-inch nails
And a little fascist panties
Tucked inside the heart
Of every nice girl
These precious things
Let them bleed
Let them wash away
These precious things
Let them break
Let them wash away
These precious things
Let them bleed now
Let them wash away
These precious things
Let them break

Tori Amos official bio:
Since the release of her first, career-defining solo album Little Earthquakes in 1992, Tori Amos has been one of the music industry’s most enduring and ingenious artists. From her unnerving depiction of sexual assault in “Me and a Gun” to her post-9/11 album Scarlet’s Walk to her decidedly feminist stage musical The Light Princess in 2013, her work has never shied away from intermingling the personal with the political. Her fifteenth and most recent studio album, Native Invader (2017), was formed out of her desire to prove that “we can out-create the destructiveness that is all around us,” and that same message became the foundation of her second New York Times - bestseller - 2020’s Resistance: A Songwriter’s Story of Hope, Change, and Courage as a potent antidote to our current (inter)national trauma.
A pioneer across multiple platforms, Tori was the first major label artist to offer a single for download. Nominated for multiple Grammy Awards and achieving nine top 10 US Albums, she has had her songs turned into graphic novels and has produced ground-breaking videos throughout her career. In late 2016 she released the title song ‘Flicker’ to the acclaimed Netflix documentary ‘Audrie and Daisy’, addressing issues of high school rape. A noted humanitarian, Tori was the first spokesperson for RAINN (Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network), which is the United States’ largest anti-sexual assault organization and continues to be on their National Leadership Council today.

I've gotten back into Tori after a long hiatus, was a huge fan in the 90s/00s.. I've watched some of her live clips from 2022 and noticed she really seems to be holding back vocally. Is this just how she performs now? It's a far cry from how she used to sing. I wonder if something happened to her vocal cords? And I can't seem to find an verified explanation as to why her face looks so different. It looks like plastic surgery, but why in the world would she do that? I am not trying to insult her at all, I'm genuinely curious. To me, she's one of the greatest female artists of all time, and should really be in the RnR Hall of Fame. It would be nice to see her get the kind of recognition Kate Bush is enjoying right now. Maybe they can put a Tori song in the next season of Stranger Things. :)

Recently she expressed being older and doesn’t need to go manic. During shows. I don’t think plastic surgery, maybe a little Botox but no big deal. Absolutely genius and moving, no matter the age and style. This show was monumental, as are they all.

@janetschartzenmeister , no. I don't think the OP is talking smack. As a fan of Tori, also curious as to what's going on here, because I was just listening to To Venus and Back, and I wanted to see what modern production has offered her to paint with, this is not what I was used to seeing her offer. As a sound guy for concerts, I understand a myriad of factors. Maybe the first song out the gate is finding her bearings, getting the mix right in her ears, etc. But this appears to be the end of the set. So maybe she gave most of her energy already. Who knows when in the tour cycle this is. Injuries and sickness happens on the road, and you gotta get out there and do it, no matter what you feel like. Much love to Tori and all her fans. Precious is a POWERFUL song. But this wasn't amazing.

I like Tori Amos. Her piano playing can be electric and her songwriting very personal and meaningful. I have most of her albums and seen her perform live in the UK about 3 times. Precious Things is one of my favourite tracks and usually makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. Unfortunately, this performance didn't work for me. Perhaps it's just how it was recorded or the screaming audience who seems hell bent on drowning out the performance? ( I know this has been an issue for Tori in the past). I'm not sure if I would want to go to another gig if I had to attempt to listen through that sort of racket. I do remember seeing her at the Apollo in Manchester some time ago and you could hear a pin drop during Me and a Gun! THAT was a performance!
