try 2024. hello from the future
TORI AMOS....2024 I'm still mesmerised by you. There's no musical artists that compares.
My parents knew I loved Tori; they heard me play her a lot in the house but that's about it. Back in 2004 i was camping in Byron Bay and my music-lover father, who never talks on the phone, CALLED ME to tell me he'd just seen a Tori concert on TV and it was "best concert I ever see in twenty year!" (he's a European immigrant 😊) Turns out it was this very show, albeit the edited version (about half the length, but still) ... He said he'd never seen someone play the piano so passionately! He even had his favourites lol: Muhammad (my jam also 🤘), Talula and Winter. We saw her together in '09 and we both loved it ❤ (Dad loved Flying Dutchman 😊)
The way she moves/changes her facial expressions, the way she sings, and her style of playing piano are all connected to each other and complement one another in this performance especially. It reminds me of the silver string she talks about in the Pele EPK video. She's at her very best here.
Tori fan for almost 20 years here, this is still her best performance. She is nuts and so so talented.
Best performance ever in the history of music right here
This is, by far, the greatest performance in the history of contemporary music, and it's not close. I cannot fathom any argument to the contrary. I am just astounded that she can expend that kind of emotional energy while preforming at such a high level. Thanks for taking on all of our suffering, Tori

Mediocre piano "playing" and downright terrible harpsichord playing makes her one of the all-time WORST musicians ever promoted by the music industry. Her laughably bad lyrics and boring pop tunes are the reason she couldn't make it at a music conservatory. Her lack of talent is clearly on display in this horrid performance.

@@jeneraljax29 Look it up. She did not have the talent to play classical music, she's still bitter about it and it shows in recent interviews. The harpsichord "playing" is terribly repetitive and further displays her lack of talent. It's easy to get caught up in dramatic displays of emotionalism, but the fact is Myra has always been a mediocre keyboardist who writes laughably bad lyrics.
Tool brought me here ... Never have I seen Maynard James Keenen eagerly subordinate himself to another talent on the same stage like he has done here with Tori. Her talent is humbling. You can see it on his face
The ultimate screaming banchee. Just love her originality-angst, turmoil, artistry, talent.
I pray Tori re-issues this either on DVD or digitally. I have a tired old VHS. Thank you for preserving this astonishing concert on KZread. It is incredible.

One of the strongest live performances of all times ? !!!
12:16 Blood Roses ~ her best live-performance ever !!!
This more than a concert, more than a music performance -- this is performance art. Somehow it's both cultivated and raw, composition spontaneously released, confident fragility, pain that heals, beauty that hurts.
If she had lived in the days of the old composers, we'd have still heard of her.

This woman is so talented!!
Tori's performances were so raw during this period that they can make one feel like they've boarded an emotional roller coaster. But for those on a receptive wavelength it's often a cathartic and captivating ride. The show ebbs and flows between pieces that serve more as backdrops to the emotions being conveyed - often to brilliantly moving effect - and moments where the songs themselves take center stage in alternating bursts of fiery passion, nuance, disciplined restraint, and wild abandon. Very few performers who sit behind the keys for their entire performance are able to pack it with as much breadth, depth and excitement. Tori pulls it off and makes it seem as natural as breathing. Watching this performance on VHS in the 90's is what made me a fan. Thanks for sharing it!

Oh... I feel gifted by discovering this musician when i was 16 in 96, and so i got this video i vhs in 97 buying online and here in Brazil none knew her by that time, at least none that i knew, and no cds to buy except boys for pele, and some friends sending me little earthquake and under the pink albuns throw the sea and i was listening non stop for many years, and more videos, and no youtube at all, and this forum ears with feet, zforum or smth, as an addiction and those people with weird names like mine as "bliss19yep", and we were so excited for the girl from the choirgirl hotel, amd then to venus and back and thse lyrics and interpretations. what does it mean? what it could mean? And met my best friend Nootchy innthis forum chat, and we were the biggest fans for so long, and she could watch tori shows and tell me about it and woa. 2017 now? Time flies.. thank u tori. :*"

The Goddess in action!
I love when she talks about Marianne here and finishes by saying "sometimes I feel her." You can tell she really meant that during the improv at the end starting at 1:22:00. What a beautiful moment. It's looks like she's looking right up at her as she sings. Stunning performance.
Doesn't get more emotional than Tori Amos. Her entire heart is put into every song on stage. You can feel her pain. I'll never forgive myself for not being at this show!
Caught a Lite Sneeze is soooo amazing...❤

@ Tasha Schneider Precious how my words of praise summoned such a negative little critic here, and for what reason....to pull down the highest of opinions that should only breed the utmost of kindness. If I knew anything about witchcraft I would swear to Christ Herself this negativity was a side effect of such demonic possession.... NEVERTHELESS, ( author grins with eyes tight and tilts chin up ) Sweetie, I’ll oblige you ... Ooooo Kay ...I for some God forsaken reason (2 this day still unknown) feel compelled 2 share with you, the Fact that, Ms. Tori Myra Ellen Amos was/is the youngest human on planet Earth to ever be accepted in the Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University and was already composing instrumental pieces on the piano as an adolescent ( basically the child was a prodigy and wrote music for large groups of musicians) moreover, Tori has a rare mezzo-soprano range and was C-L-A-S-S-I-C-A-L-L-Y trained before your small self could spell the very word.. Music. I have to grin thinking you can’t be at all conscience leaving a ridiculous comment like such, and not expect to be served up like that of a carrion creature by one of Tori’s ravenous admirers. I blaspheme you, but must add, Tori is lyrical virtuoso, and quite frankly I just don’t think you know what the fuck your talking about, my dear, fortunately, I will choose to absolve you and your ignorant demons and can only hope you choose your careless words a little “mo better” in your future endeavors, however aimless they may be, and in the words of The Maestro Herself I will end here, and spare the rest of us, because.... Well .. “I Believe In Peace...Bitch”🌀
