    This is one of the many reasons I love the MLB. Every player and coach on both sides showed compassion and that they truly cared. The batter certainly showed hurt and sorrow for the pitcher. Everyone showed respect. The fans waited patiently and then clapped as he left the field. That's true sportsmanship and how you play the game like men.

  • @JudgeBlackCross

    @JudgeBlackCross

    8 жыл бұрын

    ***** Almost, but not the riskiest. Because yes he can get hit by a pitch, but the batter is wearing a helmet so if it hit his head, it wouldnt hurt very bad. But for the pitcher, the batter can hit the ball hard and it probably travels much harder and faster than a pitch when it's a line drive. And the pitcher's head is not protected. The head is the one place you dont want to get hit. Hard enough of a hit, it can lead to a serious concussion or worse.

    The defining silence and reverence out of respect and class, empathy and caring understanding for Happ was one of the most surreal things I've ever seen in sport. Yes it's MLB and they are professional players competing for a common goal; at the same time, they are human where injuries can happen at any given and unexpected time...no matter what. Period. They acted like men in the face of something as frightening as this injury was to watch happen.

    Reminds me of the game on the same day (5-7) in 1957 where Gil McDougald of the Yankees hit the line drive that hit Herb Score in the face, breaking bones in his face, leaving him bloodied, and ending his season. Score was never the same again.

    one of the reasons professional baseball is the most beautiful sport to observe, is because it sits right on top of pure ecstasy and humbling tragedy. It can go from being a breathtaking sport to watch, to being a sport where a players life can be on the line in the blink of an eye. Baseball players are always on the edge of peril, because that baseball can and will, go anywhere and do whatever it wants.

I was in the middle of the riot's and got hit in the head with a board or bat or ??...I woke up in the hospital, that was in 1992, and now till this day in 2017...I still get headaches almost every day. So I Wish him the best!

    Aldrig Sige I've been a baseball fan for over 30 years. The reasons we clap are 1) the player isn't dead, and 2) both team sides in the crowd clap for respect, thanks, relief, well-wishes, prayer, and solidarity for the sport. That's everything I can think of from over the years! So good to know he recovered well! ⚾️

    Anyone can be an emt or save someone's life with training. Being an pro athlete takes talent. Not everyone can throw 100 fast balls or run the 1000 dash in a record time. Not everyone can dunk a 10ft High net or kick a 60 yard field goal. Etc. Be the best you can be and respect others for what you can't do.

    It’s not fair that baseball can be such a dangerous sport. The videos of pitches thrown that hurt players, batted balls that drop players, men running into the out field walls trying to stop a ball. It’s painful to see the injuries. It doesn’t matter how old the videos are, the pain, suffering and worries come shinning through.
