Topwater Stripers on the Connecticut River | S19 E01

Спорт

Host Chris Megan heads to the mouth of the Connecticut River with good friend Captain Joe Diorio to catch large striped bass on topwater lures and live bunker.
After pushing off the dock in Old Lyme, Connecticut, Capt. Joe Diorio and Chris Megan head under the Amtrak commuter rail bridge and head to the flats on the mouth of the Connecticut River. Despite high pressure, bright sunshine, and high air temperatures Joe and Chris find a school of large striped bass hiding in the shallow river flats.
By fishing a topwater lure, known as the doc, Chris and Joe catch a number of large striped bass out of the murky shallows of the river mouth.

I had the pleasure of fishing with Captain Joe Diorio this past fall. He is a great captain; we had a blast. Looking forward to doing it again this season.

Nets take up to much room on the boat. Also I feel certain nets can rip the stripers scales off their bodies.

When would you go to the 9inch doc vs let's say one of the smaller versions of the doc lure? And when would be the "ideal" time to use the doc as well as rod setup with it as well from boat, or surf?
