GIANT STRIPERS IN MAY, The big Striped Bass came to Maine early this year.

Спорт

Snuck out for a mid-day tide the last week in May. After finding some mackerel I moved around to a few of the usual early season spots with minimal luck. I decided to try a new location near some of the mid-summer ledges I fish thinking the fish might be in transition from sand to ledges already and my hunch paid off. In under two hours of fishing I caught over two dozen schoolies, 3 slot fish, 2 32", 2 36", 2 38" and the 2nd to last fishing of the day was a 40". This was one of if not the best days of solo fishing I have ever had. I am encouraged to see so many small fish as well. Below are some of my other videos. I will be putting out content every Tuesday, feel free to comment any questions or subjections you may have.

    I live in windham. I just got a 17 ft triumph center console and plan to hammer stripers this year. I usually fish off the beach where you are in this video. But I can't wait to get it from the boat. I'd love to fish with you sometime and learn some things.

    Glad you got em. Sadly they skipped over my spot in CT this year. I usually have about two or three weeks of 32-34" fish in the cos cob river in Spring. Think I caught two in early May, and then nothing. Not even the schoolies hanging around. Def. sucks after we had a really good fall run in the river.

    Low consolidateds them at the mouths of rivers or on the beach. I prefer incoming but it depends on the spot. For rocky areas look for good white water from waves crashing. Deep water near the spot is good too

    Just curious, how long do you a spot that’s not producing before you move on?

  • @FishingWithBoyt

    @FishingWithBoyt

    28 күн бұрын

    Depends. If i know it is the right tide and conditions (winds in the right direction to let me anchor where I want and there is enough current or waves making white water) I will wait it out. Also Depends on the time of year. Certain spots i'll wait it out because in years past thats where the fish were. This time of year ill fish the beach as long as it is the right tide and wind where as Fishing the beach mid day in August is a good way to get skunked. On the flip side fishing ledges too early in the year before the fish are setting up on them is risky too. So if I've had success in the past there with similar conditions I'll give it more time.
