For any new players, Game Knights is the name of the play series, The Command Zone is the name of the channel 😁. Game Knights is what got me into the commander format YEARS ago. MTGGoldfish is what got me started in 60 card formats!

I learned magic with my wife and having a second person in it with you helped a lot. Made going to stores and events less intimidating. So if you can find a friend to learn with it’s great.

Best advice to new commander players is play mono green Elves. They are easy to understand the game plan and green is good.

Fire convo and very helpful for folks getting started. I sent my homies to watch your channel and now we play via Spelltable and local when we can >>>

As someone who has played for a few years but also sometimes forgets the triggers and combos of certain cards it's always good to go through the early stuff. Thanks ladies, a great video as always

My best advice to new players is to not be afraid of making mistakes. I learned about hexproof trying to destroy a Sagu Mauler. Plus Arena makes it so easy to learn just by not letting you make those same mistakes and giving you reminder text by hovering over any card. So play as much as you possibly can and don’t be afraid to not know everything as soon as you start.

Dude, I bought the mutate precon first too, such a headache to learn how to play that as well as understand magic... All the triggers giving me PTSD hahaha I think more of the newer precons are better for new players, so I think you guys have touched on that well.

I like xenagos or any of the other big stompy style commanders for beginners because the decks can run very well without having to be too interactive and worrying about things like figuring out the stack

I would recommend starter decks and drafting as a way to get into Magic. Drafting teaches you how to deck build to an extent as well as thinking tactically/problem solving. It’s also fun to get random cards and make them playable together. Starter decks are a great way to get into constructed because they are cheap and I’ve often found them to be fairly balanced. They show you what a constructed deck looks like and you can take your draft picks to modify these decks and have fun. As long as you’re having fun there’s no right or wrong way to do it.

I think sealed is better than draft for newer players. It is more expensive since you're buying 6 packs instead of 3, but there are a lot fewer points of stress and/or confusion. Prereleases are the absolute best place to get started.

Best beginner commander is anything Voltron or Elf ball

In terms of begginer precons, I honestly reccomend the professors precons as you get the decks exact win conditions and most cards purposes talked through. I started with 2 precons when i came into magic, one was a spellslinger, which was a lot for a new player, and a typal spirits deck, Millicent which i would definitely reccomend as a begginer deck.

I don't buy many packs, it's too addictive and you end up with too much bulk. On the other hand if you crack some packs you may end up with cards you never wanted to buy because they were too pricey, and you often only need 1 for a Commander deck these days. I wouldn't encourage a new player to buy them, other than if they're the kind of person who can have a few beers and be cool, packs can feel a lot like lottery tickets.

Best middle ground I've found is to crack for play and nothing else, that way you scratch the itch in a productive way

With the way precons have evolved, id definitely say buy a precon and just start by reading the cards, do what you THINK it means.... Then as you start playing with better players (or live streams) you'll be chastised in the comments, just kidding, but the words on the cards are close. If you use this method, it'll keep you out of the looping interactions while your learning. Also the playmats with the steps of a turn are helpful.

Advice to new players Don't leave the table during the game it's rude & slows the game down having 3 people wait on your ass

Lots of love from Australia 🦘 Agree with Tyler, Mono Green Elves is a great beginner deck, add more mechanics as they get more experience
