Oh that is a wonderful gift! I am glad my videos helped you, I have a video coming up on how to save container Dahlia tubers to use them next year and share it with others too! Thank you for taking the time to comment on my video!
I was gifted 4 dahlia tubers and I'm in zone 4b so I definitely want to plant them in pots so I can move them into my garage for the winter and hope they survive as we get temperatures below freezing. All your advice seems very helpful and I will try to follow as best I can. None of the products you use are available for me to purchase locally as I live north of the border, so I'll be buying similar alternatives but will follow all the other advice. Thank you for all your helpful hints!

Thank you! I too killed 4 out of 9 tubers with overwatering in containers. I learned my lesson. Love your channel and looking forward to more content.

Yay for Northern New Jersey!! 😄
Hello ma'am do you grow dahlias from tubers or cuttings. What kind of fertilizer do you give them.

I grow from tubers and seeds. I fertilized with liquid feed of earthworm castings, 0-0.5-0.7 organic feed. Thank you for watching my video!
Can you leave the tubers in the containers for the winter if protected?

Yes, it totally depends on the garden zone and the winter temperature that year. I am working on the 'saving container tubers' video with 3-4 different techniques I tried and their results, hopefully should be able to put the video up this week!
What about the soil????? What kind? Mix or store bought?

I use the Miracle Gro Moisture Control Potting Mix for all my plants.
When do I start planting?

I start in early April indoors to get a head start to the tubers but if you are planting outside it is recommended to plant when night temperature is consistently 50 F - usually in mid to late May for my zone.
