I've used various high end machines including the Deus. Recently I've used the ORX with 9 inch HD elliptical coil. Can't fault it it just works. The better machines can help you dig less trash but no machine is perfect. Thanks 👍

Good raft of sound advice there Gary. I bought my XP Deus from Regton when I started detecting 4 years ago and absolutely rate it. I have the traditional 11" black and 9" HF white coils with remote and had some amazing finds with them both... I Love it. Mate what an excellent video should help any one trying to get started in the hobby. Don't see many videos covering these important points. Don't know how you keep coming up with such videos, keep it up.👍👍

I started with a Garrett 400i and loved it as it was so simple to use, however, I found it too heavy for long sessions and got regular strains, so decided to go for the Deus Lite as it’s compact and super lightweight, which is what I need. (I’m weak and weedy 😂) I then purchased a second hand ORX remote and use it that way most of the time. I still get confused about it’s settings, but I’m slowly getting used to it. It’s a big jump from the 400i’s simplicity.

Being solely a “lite” user ( without the remote) the general quality of the audio is excellent in the Deus... I don’t think the rejection of the iron is as important as how the Deus interprets it... I really only dig even the most deceptive iron when I want to...! Great vid Gary - as always!

Love my orx. Its my main go to detector. I still use the nox occasionally but its hard to swing anything else after feeling the lighter weight of the orx.

Hi Gary, great video as usual, Thanks mate. I have a question if I may. If I brought a ORX, then brought a Deus Remote control at a later date, then swapped and put it onto my ORX, would this gives me a full Deus? In other words, are the stems and the coils all the same on both machines, if you know what I mean. The only reason I ask is I really cant decide between the two.

Right metal detector: XP DEUS. Right programs: Gary Blackwell's. That Sifter is killer here on our side of the pond. Nice vid G.

I've had my deus hf for 2 years I wish this was my first detector it's my sixth it's light easy to carry and use and fits in a normal back pack think of all the money I would have saved if I bought this first instead of the 5 earlier machines that were lacking in every respect { they looked really good on you tube} My daughter used my deus recently and didn't want to give it back she wasn't finding much with her new machine and was amazed at its performance Thanks for the videos I really look forward to them

You're so right about buying the best you can afford, I've been asked what I think about certain "cheap Chinese" machines sold on Amazon and always steer people towards well known brands, they may cost more at first but will save you in the long run. Another very informative video

Thanks Powlo some people new to the hobby think detectors are all the same. It always pays to do a.little homework first.

My xp deus set. Xp orx rod, eliptical even on clean ground with deep settings. with an xp remote in my jacket. Super light weight😉

Don't want any of these 2 detectors, my only question is when should we expect the release of simultaneous frequency Deus/ORX? That one is the one I was to purchase. Thanks.

You hit nail on head with annoying tones on some machines Gary ,deus has the most versatile tone adjustments on any machine ever made , had me deus 5+ years and it’s still a firm favourite alongside my other machines for a days digging

Orx use in treasure hunting ?

Gary it’s the price mate, dollars of machine, if the detecting game is xp deus and minelab what we do mate, u r obviously a spokesman for xp, can you give unbiased opinion on notka makro mate or not your cup of tea

They are all good machines I'm not going to knock any if them, the real key is to be comfortable and confident with what you are using. Oh and good land helps.
