The ferry is not the only way to get to the island. You can take a seaplane or a catamaran from Seattle (though the catamaran suspended service until Covid is over).

We just rode over here in our SUV with 2 kids and 2adults from Anacortes..Cost us 98.00.. but we don't have to pay to come back
WAIT for the ferry, because service has been cut by 50%, WAIT for the ferry, because it was Canceled, WAIT for the ferry, because it ran Aground, WAIT for the ferry, because it is Broken Down !!! . . . "GOOD LUCK" ✔️
