Nice run. I keep hearing from folks how much fun the Ruckus can be. Even from folks with bigger bikes. The little beast just keeps drawing them back.

Fantastic video. Unfortunately your area is super flat compared to anywhere back east! If you can see clear across the city it's suchhh a slight grade compared to here where you're going up and down and up and down constantly.

Change the oil within the first 100 miles if its new, then 600 miles like the owners manual states and follow the book after that.

I pass by your pops house at least 3 or 4 times a week. I didn't know you got your Ruckus already, let's go ride soon! After the first oil change, if you're using good oil, it's fine to follow Honda's recommended intervals. But mine's usually running wide open so I'll probably change the oil every 2k miles or so.

I am 6'5" 210lbs. My 2020 is not stock just under 600 miles, Yoshi Carbon Exhaust, Jetted Carb 38 Pilot Jet, 85 Main Jet, MNNTHBX Intake, NCY Variator, Dr Pulley Sliders(6 gram now, have had as low as 4.5 gram) and rolling Wrench CDI. I also had lowered seat, other crap. I can go about 43-45 flat and 53 down short hills. The one thing you need is a cheap tach, I imagine your right around 8800rpm. The best upgrade was the RW CDI, I can hit close 10,500 rpm. My area is super hilly and no long flats like you have there. You are getting great top speed for a stock ruckie, they are hard to squeeze much more outta of them!

I'm considering making some slight modifications to my Ruckus. I'd like to be able to reach an average cruising speed of at least 42. I'm trying to keep the modifications to an absolute minimum in order to achieve this. Any recommendations?

  • @carlo1132

@@sincloth7022 Rolling Wrench CDI, its plug and play and will upcap the limiter, you need a tach and you shouldn't be at 10k all day long of course, the factory limiter is 8800 and your hitting that at your top speed. The cheaper safer mod would be ncy or poloni variator with dr pulley sliders, prob 6 gram. Matt has a video on before and after on a stock ruckus speed change.

Pretty incredible actually for a 49 cc engine, what octane fuel are you using? I hear people saying they run a bit better with high octane fuel..

  • @sincloth7022

    @sincloth7022

I always run 91 octane in it. That's the highest octane we can get here.

I'm deciding between the Ruckus and the Monkey at the moment. I started out wanting a Ruckus, but I was concerned about certain streets with 45mph plus traffic. The Monkey will do 50-55mph. Some were saying the Ruckus was more like 31-35mph. If price was not a factor, which bike would you go with?

  • @sincloth7022

Either would be a great choice. I went with the Ruckus because I think it makes a better daily rider. I use mine to get groceries, deliver food (Doordash, Uber eats, etc) and even take long, scenic rides. You quickly get used to only going 35-40 mph. It's not as bad as it sounds. I really love my Ruckus. Out of my 4 bikes and scooters, it's still my favorite one to ride.

I'd say it's a little more comfortable than an average ebike. On a good day, I can do 6-8 hours of deliveries on it.

It sounds punky dude you need a bbk and ported head. It is not the top speed that matters it is how fast you get to the cruising speed.

  • @joeypicard6169

The ruckus in the computer only allows it to go to 35, open throttle at 35 will make it automatically lose power to prevent it going faster, a red box that I own changes the computer to allow it to go faster XD

thats one of the worst things you can do to a ruckus as far as engine wear is concerned. the next worst is removing the air filter for one of those velocity stack things

Removing the rev limiter is bad. However many CDIs are artificially limited to comply with various regulations. An aftermarket CDI will still limit revs, but will not artificially slow down ignition to maintain a certain speed

  • @jacobpoucher

@@GTAIVisbest lol what cdi's are you referring too? All of them i am aware of (for the ruckus) simply remove the limiter, not raise it.
