I owned a ruckus. Bought brand new. Must have been a lemon. Always had an issue. I was sad that it never worked out. Underpowered compared to other scoots in the same weight class. Great video.

I’ve got a UK spec Ruckus (Zoomer) that comes with a fuel injection engine. This allowed me to buy a fuel map plug in from Japan which increases fuel supply to the engine. It has transformed the bike as for me the sluggish acceleration was more a problem than the top speed. I am now moving away from traffic lights much faster which allows me to steal a match on the following traffic. At the end of the day the Zoomer/Ruckus is more a state of mind than a practical bike, I love mine and accept it’s limitations.

Sometimes I wish we had the fuel injected version here. I'll have to upgrade my carburetor jets to hopefully see similar results. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for the comment, buddy!

Here in Michigan all we have to do with our 50cc's is register them. No endorsement or insurance. Some ruckus riders are getting 45mph and pulling up hills. Sliders have been the most popular mods.

change the variator and put the 6 gram weights in it, thats what I did and works just fine. I ride mine all year round, even in the winter, I live in Michigan, love the ride.

I'll be ordering my variator and rollers in a couple days. Which brand of variator/weights did you use?

Want to go a bit faster? Get a Yoshimura Exhaust. Get a stock size K&N Air Filter. Heidenau stock size tires. Rejet the carb to compensate for the Yoshimura Exhaust and K&N Air Filter. My 2007 is a bit faster and sounds better than stock.

have 2017 ruckus

I agree, the acceleration is pretty bad and for me, my tailbone hurts like hell after about 30 min on that seat. Other than that it’s a fun little scooter

yep, im noticing my tailbone is hurting, checked my psi. both tires were at 30psi, i have under 300 miles on it so far

Thanks, Alan. I have to buy a warmer sleeping bag and possibly a larger tent, but hopefully I can get out there and camp within the next few weeks.

I can't find a Ruckus for sale in Vegas anywhere. It's crazy. All the dealers are saying maybe next year.

I ordered a variator kit from Amazon but they sent the wrong one. I sent it back and haven't yet purchased the right one. I still plan to install the correct performance variator kit, and will post a video highlighting any performance improvements as soon as I've done so. I'm expecting a slight increase in acceleration as well as an extra 1 or 2 mph of top speed, but we'll see I guess.

6 gm wait's well help with that i know it come's with 7 gm wait's when you get it i'm going to get one myself

Is the Ruckus considered a moped with moped license plate?

in most states, yes, it can be registered as a moped. Here in Nevada, a scooter must be under 50cc's and under 2 horsepower to be registered as a moped. The Ruckus is over on horsepower but some (not all) DMV inspectors will still let it be registered as a moped.

Your middle motorcycle is probably either a Grom or a Rebel 300.

Either would be a great addition and I've thought about both of those at one time or another. I almost bought a Grom instead of the Ruckus.

If you’re a bigger dude like me, I just don’t think that you can get much more out of it than stock config. Everything I’ve read suggests that only very marginal improvements can be had. But good luck! Let us m know how you do!

If I could get it to maintain a little more speed going uphill and/or against the wind, plus an extra 1-2 mph on the top end, that would be good enough for me. We'll see how it goes.

Have you seen the new Honda Navi that is coming to the states next year? Too bad that 125cc motor isn’t available in a ruck chassis. I love the utility design and minimalistic look of my ruck but I wish it was a 125. But I absolutely don’t want to do one of those gy6 150 cc conversions and end up with a stretched scoot. Plus, gy6 motors can be sketchy and I want that Honda reliability.

I had the Navi in one hand and Ruckus in other and went with Ruckus. Need somewhere to put the bundle of firewood or case of beer. We would be happy with power of Ruckus if we had a mini road with no cars.

Buy the big ruckus with the 250cc engine
