Onyx is actually a Duratrax brand name. Then Horizon came in and bought them out, along with all the other independent Rc companies and has now basically formed a Monopoly in the RC industry.

Interesting didn’t know that…..personally I believe Traxxas is the monopoly of the Rc world….I guess that’s what Horizon has to do just to compete with Traxxas…..using a whole lineup of brands

Wow your steering or “toe in” was not in the furthest preset holes?

It definitely moves fast but I think even when bashing you should install a slash bumper to control the wheelies and protect the body in the back that’s what I did and it helps a lot

3s is hard on the 2wd stampedes,always beaking something. I stick to 2s because of it. Dang that wind noise is fairly harsh on the speakers LOL

Was it the idler pin inside the transmission that sheared? Thats what was happening to my slash on 3s had to get the heavy duty one that doesn’t have a pin its been good since lol.

I prefer the new logo. I don't know about Nolan's political affinity, but the previous one looked more like a syndicalist logo. This new one is more neutral and doesn't look as political.

You should get a Fast Lane Machine 8th scale chassis. Will fix your wheelies with those things. Also extended front a arms from RPM so you can run rear wheels on both F/R. I have mine built to the moon lol.

@@RCKnockout Its a whole new chassis. Thick aluminum. The area around the servo tends to break very easily. The chassis eliminates the problem, plus the extra length keeps the front wheels on the ground. And you can use 8th scale bodies.

@@RCKnockout You could use the same body but it would look silly. They also make one of stock size and one in the middle of stock and 8th. But i mean whats wrong with a fancy new 8th scale body? JConcepts makes a long bed chevy/gmc body that fits perfect and is the one i use. But hey these are just suggestions for a later date.

The stock default setting should be safe to run it….but it’s not a bad idea to follow the instructions and program the esc the way you want it

@@RCKnockout thanks for responding so quick, I wouldn’t have expected that because this video is 2 months old, but I’m running it on a stock brushed slash 2wd and I have the stock receiver and transmitter and it says that I need to calibrate the ESC and transmitter but the transmitter only has steering trim so will it still pair fine? They did resurface it….but now it’s crap….it’s not smooth at all and has a ton of imperfections in it…..I think it’ll be worse for the 100mph Traxxas Slash project tbh

Hello, I also bought 4000KV 4 pole motor for it. Is it better to run stock gearing or high speed gearing on 2s? I run mostly on tarmac or flat dusty surface. Will it overheat and will it wheelie with high speed gearing? Thanks!

It would probably be best to run the stock gearing….it could get pretty hot running the high speed gearing…it should wheelie no problem

Good stuff bud. I always hear that 3s destroys the Stampede. I would stick to 2s. I do that with a cheap Maverick Quantum MT Flux 1/10 truck that I have. It's 3s capable, but that breaks stuff too much on it. I only do 2s for that reason 👍

@@RCKnockout on 2s and a 3900kv motor. I have tore ass on multiple battery packs through the yard with nothing breaking,the only thing that happened was screws would back out in various places and the slipper clutch needed adjusted semi often. I only did light jumping but I ran it wide open for weeks. I do have those 12mm hex adapter extensions on as well to Help with the stability and flip overs. Im sure once you hit those jumps of yours,you will find a weakness Or two. LOL cant wait. Haha

That’s a lower kv motor and probably higher gearing….keep in mind this is a “budget” brushless system…it’s a great improvement over the stock xl-5 system this came with
