Top Reasons Not To Move To Reno
Top Reasons Not To Move To Reno
In this video, we are going to go over some of the top reasons why you shouldn't move to Reno. This isn't a negative video, but I just want to highlight some of the things in Reno that are here to stay and can't change. So, if you can't live with some of them, Reno might not be the place for you. Overall, I'm extremely happy with living in the Reno area and I would highly recommend it.

You need to add the new Cold Springs with beautiful new homes, paved walkways for exercise and miles of sidewalks, a new Junior High, a new 2 story elementary school and a new high school is in the planning stages. Cold Springs is surrounded by beautiful mountains and in the winter the mountains are covered in snow. It is an exceptionally safe community and private security patrols the New Cold Springs. Cold Springs is second to none!
Clear and articulate.
I am really contemplating moving to Reno, saw your pros and cons and they don’t seem as bad. I even found a good apartment within my budget. These have been super helpful. Now all is debating if I should get a car.🤔

It’s really not a bad place to live, I personally enjoy it and I’m originally from Hawaii! Glad you’ve found them to be helpful! I personally would get a car, but that all depends on your current situation, job, your hobbies, etc. Have a good day 😃

This is true.
With real estate. I think the cost-of-living was going up because some people was priced out the Bay Area(San Francisco-Oakland) and they went east to Reno and bought up houses over there.

That certainly contributed to the rising housing costs. You’re definitely right. Also, a lot of investors and Bay Area people wanted to move out because of Covid and remote work. It’s also cheaper here.
All valid points. Still a great place to live. Not for everyone.

You are absolutely right! Reno does have all four seasons and I love it! :) We can get hot in the summer, but at least we cool down at night, unlike Vegas. Thanks for your feedback.
Is wildfire smoke not that bad? I never see it on any "cons" lists, but it looks/sounds pretty awful. Is it just a short-term nuisance each year?

It can definitely get bad at times. 2022 wasn't that bad, but the previous 2 years were not that great. Sadly, a lot of the time the smoke that we get isn't from fires directly in Reno or Northern Nevada, but from California.
What do u know about Fernley, NV? Is it a good place to live?
@DavidTully775

It is very different compared to Reno, with more open space, but not as much housing and amenities. It's a smaller town feel for sure. The population is around 23-24,000. The Reno Sparks population is over 500,000. It just depends on what you are looking for, but Fernley is definitely more affordable. Shoot me an email if you have any other questions. renotully@gmail.com
You really don't want people to move there.
