you guys are the best, THAT is marketing...the days of being ripped off by service techs are over, I'd gladly buy from a vendor who showed me how to fix it.

Don’t just check continuity. It’s more helpful the ohm out the parts. Sometimes coils melt and have contact but high resistance

I have replaced the heating element and high limit thermostat but it has not helped with my problem. So; according to your video, it might be a vent, or vent fan problem. I suspect it might be in the control panel circuit board. If so; I take it that you suggest I get professional help; "aka a serviceman"! Ergo, I have wasted my time pursuing a "do it yourself" journey. I guess I might want to add up all the costs of parts already purchased with what a new circuit board may cost; and guess what an appliance repair person might charge. And then I might want to compare that with the price of a new Whirlpool D.W. Or, just not worry about a little moisture on our precious dinnerware. The truth is, that I appreciate your video, and find it helpful...so thanks.

Next time, instead of replacing the parts, you may want to use a multi-meter and test for continuity. That way, you can determine exactly what the problem is...or more importantly what the problem isn't. If you are a homeowner, I can assure you that you'll put a multi-meter to use, so don't feel bad spending $30 bucks on it.

Ed Lowe I'm sorry Ed; perhaps I failed to explain that I had already checked for continuity....the heating element was bad...no continuity. So I have no regrets about any costs for that item. My next concern was the "Heat Limit Switch"....I didn't know how to test it. It showed positive for continuity; but that didn't tell me anything since I didn't know whether it should have been "N.O. or N.C.". In other words, if the limit switch found conditions too hot; would it open a circuit, or close a circuit? I guess that's where I found he instructions lacking....otherwise I found it helpful.

Man that's terrible....so the element was bad, but replacing it didn't fix the problem. I feel your pain. I can't even count how many times I've tried to fix a problem and it ends up not being the problem or a new problem is created trying the fix the old one.

It was one element of the problem, checked for continuity and it was bad...so far so good. My desire was to know how to check the "High Limit Thermostat"...I replaced it as well. I checked it for continuity and it there was continuity...however, in this case continuity might mean that it's faulty. If it should show an open circuit (N.O.) then maybe it would be good...on the other hand, if it showed continuity, perhaps that's bad. I just wished someone would have explained how to test the Limit Switch...

I been there also, next step is $200. board. It is said but they make these units to last about 5 years so you buy parts then you will buy a new one then you will pay to get it haul off with all the new parts and the cycle goes on. Washer, dryers, dishwashers lasted 30-35 years, WHAT HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @AtlzBestM26

@@joeescue100 keep in mind after you replace any component on the dishwasher, you have to "reset" the dish washer so it tests and recognizes that parts are working. This is a must, not an option. I replaced a circulation pump and it wasn't heating. i had to reset the dish washer, it tested all parts one by one and viola, heating element was working again. to reset kitchenaid dishwasher, open door and press any 3 "option" buttons one by one for a total of 3 times..for e.g. Heated Dry > Hi-Temp Wash > Sani-Rinse one by one and repeat this for a total of 3 times. All lights will go on indicating its in diagnostic mode, close the door and let it run..it will run for about 10 mins and test each cycle and each component. it will flash all lights and beep 3 times to indicate it has finished. your dishwasher is reset at this point and ready to use all working parts now.

this is the easiest thing you can do with a multimeter. continuity is just checking to see if power can flow through an item. its literally touching two prongs together and listening for a beep
