Honestly this is a perfect KZread video. I remember when they were pretty much all like this, very small amount of editing. Just capturing humans being humans in a very raw form. You don't need uplifting music and slow motion to know this guy was having the best day of his life. There are still really great KZread videos being made, but I miss when they were all like this.

I remember my first time at the drag races. I was about 10 years old, I'm almost 60 now. My cheap ass Dad snuck me in through the back, into the pit yard. I actually got to meet Don Prudhomme. Well, actually he was asleep in a fold out chair, but I recognized him. No, I didn't disturb him, either. But hey, I give my Dad credit looking back on it now. I know I had a good time, lol!

@zesolodar I started going when I was a kid in the 60s. Of course, they didn't have this kind of power. My uncle had a front engine dragster and raced at several tracks in Colorado. Later, in the 80s, I remember you could stand almost next to the track at Bandimeer Speedway west of Denver, CO. A car's blower belt or something broke, sending shrapnel everywhere. To a teenager....that was awesome!!!! And BOY....could you feel the cars. It made your bones want to rattle out of your skin. You had to remember not to inhale when they went by. It can get in your blood. I raced my muscle cars for about 10 yrs in club racing. My siblings still race. It is a great way to spend the weekend, get some blood pumping.

That "Best day of my life" at the end actually brought a tear to my eye. So glad this guy got to EXPERIENCE (because that's what it is) this in his life. You just can't adequately describe what the experience is like to people. Yeah, it's loud but that's only part of it. You can really FEEL the concussions from the engines as they rip on by. And if you're lucky enough to have pit passes* when they're tuning those things you'll REALLY get to feel the potato sack being slammed into your chest when they blip the throttle. Oh, and you'll find little pieces of rubber stuck to your face when you look in the mirror later on. * I HIGHLY recommend ear and eye protection. Ears for the noise and eye protection for the nitro-methane fumes which will make your eyes water, big time.

That is SO awesome !!! Been going to the drags since 1970: Plenty of NHRA and AHRA events. I even took my future wife to the Gatornationals , right down to the pits and stood next to a Top Fueler warming up doing a driveline check--setting the clutch (this was back when you could stand alongside the cars). When they whacked the throttle, she didn't even flinch !!! Right then and there I knew she was The One !!! So glad to see your Dad enjoying himself like this !!!

Never too old for new experiences. There is nothing quite like FEELING sound. Whether it is music, an explosion, or an engine......it just tickles you somehow and makes you smile.

I love it! My BF was on a Pro Stock team for years. I’ve been down on the track, during 4 wide at Charlotte, funny car & Top Fuel was crazy! You can feel the horsepower through every inch of your body. I’m so happy he loved it! Great first reaction. ❤

I love watching this!... there ain't nuthin - and I do mean NUTHIN' - than two Top Fuelers duking it out side by side for 1,000 feet. 23,000+ HP just romping in, around, and through you. Pictures and videos simply don't do it justice. It has to be seen in-person to believe it. I love this guy's reaction. Priceless! (Oh... been there, my man. Been there! 😆🙃😁)

When I was a kid (in the 80's) dad took me every year to the winter nationals at Darlington, SC. We always sat on the concrete stand right beside the burnout and tree. I remember very clearly that sleeping in the stands was NO option! 😂 Top fuel will pull the air out of your lungs.

Just the idle of top fuel is insane, full throttle reaches 150 decibels, NHRA is certainly the loudest sport

Man, you just made me have a great memory with my Old Man. I took him to Maple Grove Raceway for his first time seeing it. It happened to be an event with Jet Cars too! Them flames hit, and his jaw hit the deck. Pop wasn't much of a car gu, but he absolutely loved it. It was a blast watching this video. Thank you for sharing it.

That's great! There's no way to explain to someone the amount of power those things have. They just have to see it in person and feel the sound in their entire body to actually understand how insane those motors are! Truly takes your breath away, and then those sweet, sweet smells. Love it.
