Want to up your game with some crazy new weapons in Pathfinder 2nd Edition? Well then, here you go, some weapons you've (probably) never heard of in Pathfinder 2e and how they can help you out!
Sorry, I had to use Messer practice footage for the Flyssa footage, there's no real good footage out there of Flyssa combat! Still, the wooden practice swords they use are about the same size and shape of a Flyssa, so I figure it's close enough.

Let's not forget the best weapon in the game; FRYING PAN!

Jokes aside, the frying pan is a great backup weapon in the game. Now if you are ever caught weaponless, you know you can go to any kitchen and get a weapon and not have to worry about improvised weapon penalty stuff. Should have made it an honorable mention!

Dancer's Spear is common according to AoN, making it even better as anybody should be able to access it.

Use a boomerang on my thrown barbarian because the range increment is massive compared to the usual 20-30 feet. Like so much distance I’m surprised it wasn’t made a d4 weapon but I’m not complaining.

I'm pretty sure that the boomerang only returns on misses unfortunately, the flavour text of the weapon sometimes has mistaking informations, like kopesh not having the disarm traits.

It is . . . contentious. Sometimes the bulk text of a weapon description has actual gameplay implications in it. For example, the battle lute says it can still be used as a musical instrument, and I'm sure that is true. The Monkey's Fist has a special rule that you don't drop the weapon if disarmed (it stays attached to your wrist with a leather strap). The general rule of thumb I go by is: if the sentence is a descriptor, it is PROBABLY lore, if the sentence talks purely about gameplay mechanics, it PROBABLY is gameplay mechanics. But yes, your GM will have to make the final call. Personally, as a GM, this one seemed cut-and-dry to me that it returns on a hit, but that's just how I read it.

A "successful throw" doesn't mechanically imply a hit. IRL toy boomerangs (the ones that return) take some skill to throw correctly, so that they return properly. I think it's a mighty stretch to say that it this text means it returns to you on a successful strike. 2e devs generally use very specific and clinical language when writing rules, so it seems a bit disingenuous to take this interpretation and run with it.

@@deadstones1 Fair enough. Someone will have to bring it up on the Paizo boards and see what the Devs have to say about it. Personally, I don't think it's too big a problem to have one weapon in the game that returns to the user without magic. Makes early throwing builds viable, and I'm all about allowing more types of builds.

@@PsiPrimeProductions1 My player had the same thoughts you did and I said it would not return on a successful hit because that makes no sense... "You nail this guy in the face...and your boomerang with no magic rises from the ground after it came to a dead stop and flies back to your hand."

I don't know how "unheard of" it is, but the gill hook is one of my favorites. Grapple trait on a reach weapon means you can force a melee character's next action to be an escape with just a successful grapple from 10 ft away.

I made like 3 charas who are or planned to be used for a campaign first one: a vine leshy leaf druid, that was for like 2 years now when I made her, so there were some limitation on it I started with a spear, because pointy sticks superior and leather armor thought the campaign, the thought of switching to a javeline appeared, as it would fit better well got issues with gm and so, so campaign endet for me, chara stayed dead most of the time with treasure vault and liek the remaster i checked her up again note: I used verdant weapon as well so I tried to fit something for it aswell obvious thougth was a whip (as the feat literally suggest it), but whip is martial and the thorn whip is a ghoran weapon, until remaster came and my lovely girl now spanks people from the distance or at least make it an option second chara is a ganzi dwarf vanguard gunslinger, who is at the moment in an AV adventure she uses a dwarven scattergun and uses the dwarven weapon feat to make it a martial weapon. she has a tail aswell and gets even close to the enemy :3 sadly no real option to use athletic right now, but hopefully it iwll change, her tail is still a good sauce for MAP, if her gun isn't reloaded (has handwraps aswell for the bonus) and my third and newest one is a empty sky kitsune paladin champion (that's a long name xD) she uses from what I put into pathbuilder a fauchard as her weapon. Shehe was planned for kingmaker (like the dwarf was planned for AV, as only the leshy had a open direction) I first thought to use a bec the corbin, because fancy thing or like a dancer spear/dueling spear, as I wanted to use a reach spear/polearm weapon But since I wanted a deity who fits her personality and so, it was tough to find something to fit it all Shelyn wasn't even my direct choice, but she was the only one who offered a polearm, and so I sticked to it but after looking her art up and stuff, I got even more confused, as a glaive would be shelyns weapon and her art uses a guisarme So idk what weapon I planned for, probally the guisarme, even so I prefered a d8 weapon with more traits xD

oh I forgot I made a chara between the gunslinger and the champion a sacred nagaji fencer swashbuckler who has the theme of being a pirate or at least a water noodle her main weapon is her tail, but she uses a main gauche as second weapon to feint or MAP I just thought it will be funny to have a big danger noodle on a ship who bonks people with their tails and even if she get yeeted down, she quickly gets back up with her swim speed :3

I had no idea the boomerang also returns on a successful attack, I had always read the recovery trait and assumed it was just on unsuccessful attacks, ya learn something new everyday, and I just learned to read weapon descriptions!

  • @PsiPrimeProductions1

    @PsiPrimeProductions1

    7 ай бұрын

Yeah, sometimes they hide unique hidden abilities in weapon discriptions. For example the Monkey's Fist has a leather strap around the hilt and that prevents you from dropping the weapon if disarmed (you still need an action to put it back into your hand, but at least an enemy can't grab it.) There are a few others out there that have abilities in their weapon descriptions too.

@@PsiPrimeProductions1 The Recovery trait states "recovery weapons are thrown weapons designed to return to the thrower when they miss the target". They do not return on a successful attack unless you put a Returning rune on them. Edit: I've seen the description for the boomerang now, so you're absolutely right. My bad.

Making an opponent off guard is really easy...as my players make 90% of attacks against none off guard opponents.... It's really easy if your players are tactical. If your players are new or very casuals...no, no it's not. Even in PFS level of casual play (which is casual but not what I would consider very casual) flanks are not common. Tripping is almost unheard of. I would say that more than half of attacks are against none off guard opponents.
