Wage disparity. NBA plays 82 games per season. WNBA plays 40. Annual average NBA salary $10 million. WNBA $147,775. Women play roughly 50%of the number of games the men play but make anout 1.5%of the salary the men make. We know a lot of it has to do with sponsorships, viewership, fan base, ticket sales etc. The WNBA makes about $180-200 million per yer. The NBA brings in about $10 billion. Its mostly about the revenue. First through fourth round pick rookie salary's are around $80,000.

@@goldbrick2563 I think the issue with revenue simply has to do with marketing and assumptions surrounding women abilities. You have to understand that it’s only been 2 years that the ncaa allowed the women’s team to use March madness branding and in these last 2 years it’s been the first time you can actually find games at prime time on prime channels. WNBA has the same issue but worse. They don’t put money in it and then are surprised money doesn’t come out. Glad the game got some notoriety this year to initiate change.

I could never imagine their salary is so low. So basically NBA stars contract is 100 times more than WNBA??? WTF??? No wonder they need to play overseas for another 2-3 seasons every year😢😢😢

WNBA plays with a smaller ball but same sized hoop, increasing their shooting percentage. Also, the contracts for WNBA players aren't likely to increase until they become financially independent. They are subsidized by the NBA and have never had a profitable season.
