    I don't recall who mentioned this but: CHOKEPOINTS! Fighting out in the open sucks with little cover and you can easily get surrounded. Even if you don't die you may take damage you didn't need to. Don't be afraid to fall back to more defensive positions to draw enemies to you, or somewhere with better cover. Remember: you're not retreating; you're advancing in a different direction. Also, keep in mind how easily you can die as a zealot. Charging into a crowd is fun until you are suddenly at 10% health. Think before you charge: is it just a crowd of enemies or do they have ranged support? Is there cover that you can put between you and that sniper? Don't be afraid to wait for your moment to strike.

    I personally double-bound my Dodge key to my Sprint key. You can only sprint with a Forward input, But you can only dodge in the other 3 cardinal directions (L, R, Backwards) So no there's no conflict Hope this helps anyone!

    That's a pretty cool and smart idea this way you can spam the dodge key without problems, because if you spam the dodge key when it's bind to space, your character keeps jumping

    Another tip for my fellow zealots. The stun grenade is probably the most OP part of your kit. You can use it stun a crowd and rez team members, use it on the beast of nurgle to make it spit out someone that's has been eaten, use it to stop horde chasing you to extraction, throw it at snipers and other ranged enemies suppressing you. Don't be afraid of using it cause it can save your run if you get into a bad spot.

    The beast of Nurgle spit is the key to the fight. If you get hit, then it will hunt you till it swallow you or it wears off. This allows you to kite it, and know for roughly how long you can do so. Flamers melt bosses I believe picking up and dispelling the grim still counts towards the weekly, just not the secondary. The veteran's ability when upgraded can act as a radar. Pop it when you hear a sound queue to quickly find targets. When a map event ends, you will have a period of time before the next director's action. Use it to hunt for resources and the like.

    hitting crouch during your dodge adds a slide which gives you twice the movement and lowers your hit box which makes a huge difference in your level of play when you really need to clutch

    I absolutely do this, but be careful around corners and strange geometry in maps (like just to the right of the left train on the ammo recovery mission inbetween the train and the ramp to the sniping position) since you can wedge yourself in a corner and be unable to move.

    About the Peril auto-quell: If you have two Force weapons, swapping to the other weapon won't result in the faster quell speed. You have to be holding a weapon that ISN'T an instrument of the Warp (a gun or a melee weapon that isn't a Force Sword) to get the faster passing Quell. That's why Quell speed can be so potent on a staff, especially if you want to stay at range and nuke things. Also: NEVER QUELL WITH JUST YOUR HANDS. It's amazingly slow! Always switch to your Staff or Force Sword, or switch to a non-Warp weapon and let it passively Quell while you do something else.

    Paying attention to sound is what saved me a lot of games, even more than Vermintide everything makes a distinct sound and you can learn to time your dodges accordingly : I am able to reliably dodge a trapper even if it's in my back for instance. Hounds are hella noisy as well, you actually have a sound cue when they try to jump you : I was able to dodge one coming from my back several times, admittedly not reliably...yet.

    Glad dodging was covered in reasonable detail here (alongside a visual example of sniper dodging, although ideally it would've been out in the open -- players might wrongly think that cover is required to sniper-dodge but it isn't). A little sad *pushing* isn't covered, as pushes and push-attacks are some of the things I see players fail to do (even on difficulty 4; in fact I think it's responsible for a _lot_ of failed runs on D4!). * Pushing interrupts the attack of smaller enemies. * So anytime you know you can't melee in time to hit the enemy before their hit strikes, you you should be pushing and/or dodging. * Listen for the "incoming melee" sound to help you know when attacks might be from behind you. You can dodge and push them too. * You can also use this to save allies if you're close enough to interrupt a guy who's behind them meleeing them. * Ogryn are strongest, and can push Maniacs to interrupt them (other classes can't). *Push attacks* are often worth using. * Hold block > left-click to push > and keep holding left-click to push-attack * Definitely test out the push-attack beforehand so you know where it's worth using. For example the Catachan Mk IV is an overhead slash, so if you're pushing a horde you don't want to use it (but if you're attacking a single target, it's fine). * With some weapons the push-attack is _absolutely critical_ to using that weapon well. For example the Antax is an axe which does good damage but only hits one thing at a time, but its push-attack at least gives it a _small_ cleave, making it much better against hordes. It's still a below average weapon for clearing hordes but that's understandable because it's one of the best for attacking armored targets.

    For reload canceling: instead of switching weapons, the fastest way I've found to skip is to start sprinting for just a moment. Sprinting, sliding, and quelling can cancel certain animations and make them much faster, so I primarily slide to switch to my bolter much faster and start sprinting right as I pull down in the reload animation for the bolter. Quelling and sprinting on staffs to cancel their animations can also be extremely broken. You can fire much faster with the voidstaff by spamming quell while shooting, and ending the zap animation with sprint on the surge staff early gives you the higher damage ticks faster. Starting a sprint is also a faster way to reset your melee combos instead of the traditional way of blocking between hits.

    So far my biggest issue is too many players are rushing to get ahead and attack the next mob. This breaks coherence and weakens the group substantially. Communicate with your fellow gamers and have patience to allow the invaluable search for ammo, health and other goodies before the next big fight.

    This is a constant issue. Sticking with your team cannot be understated. I've seen level 30 players get the god complex and rush through the level not bothering to rescue or even consider other teammates. Even worse are those who feel the need to set off every bomb in the level, regardless of who is behind them. Combine that with someone who is actively searching for grimoires/scriptures and you have a rubberband effect on the team that results in many failed missions. It can get fairly toxic, and I'm not talking about the corruption. My advice would be to leave the session when you get in those situations. Don't feel like you owe a disruptive team any time. I've stuck it out through so many bad sessions, finally arriving at the notion that time is a commodity I own.

    This is my absolute biggest peeve, and I have started to just quit runs where I see this happening. I love playing as a team, which is why I play this multiplayer game… weird, isn’t it?

    Two tips I want to share is - *While holding a decent mobility MELEE weapon, you move faster than sprinting by side dodging. Side dodge spamming is the fastest movement in the game.* - *Whenever you are carrying a cannister, you can slide spam and move at normal speed without being slowed down by the weight of the cannister.*

    I really like the chain sword and eviserator for attack cancelling maulers and bulwarks etc when it's revved up, very useful in my opinion

    Regarding the peril dumping, if you have a force weapon, as in a staff or force sword equipped for passive peril quelling is slower compared to having a non force weapon out.

    @@KRIMZONMEKANISM From what i'm aware of there was only a bug regarding a feat that was fixed, which lowered the quelling speed. There was nothing about weapons and they still work just like before the patch. Force weapons have lower passive quelling compared to non force weapons

    @@Helmotz. Pretty sure it is intended. Force weapons have the ability to actively quell and with decent quell speed stat that will be faster. Non force weapons having higher passive quelling gives build variety where you could go ham with a staff and once you reach 90% you switch and hack away while the passive gets you quickly down where a force weapon you'd actively quell but don't kill anything while doing that

    For dodge... There's this thing - "dodge slide" that happens if you press crouch as you dodge and it gives you some extra distance on the dodge. Doing this "manually" is tricky, so I've mapped dodge and crouch to space - it does make it easier to dodge mutants (dogs not so much... pushing them is a little less wonky). Only problem is that you normally have like 2-3 consecutive full distance dodges so if you hold dodge button after first two dodge slides - you're pretty much just crouching... And after figuring out that the trick works - made a macro for mouse side button so I have both "normal" and "slide" dodge and use them depending on the situation :D

    Charging the surge staff only increases its damage, not charging it still stuns several enemies, so if you rapid fire those chain lightning strikes you can keep any non-boss enemy stunned for as long as you can keep going. Snipers laser beam stops moving before they shoot, so if you keep moving you can very easily tell when he's about to fire. It doesn't help much before you know there's a sniper/the first shot, but after that it can be useful. If you didn't like the trauma staff when you got, try it again when you're much higher level, it gets a lot more useful since the area and damage increases, it can knock even a crusher of its legs and is particularly useful for dealing with several shield ogryns at higher levels. As long as you're under 100% peril when you left-click lock an enemy with brain burst you can finish it and not blow up, so you can spam brainbursts by going down to 90-95% peril then brain bursting and repeating. You can also do this with all the staves, but it doesn't always work out, so keep your wrath ability off cooldown if you're gonna risk it.

    Something that may not be obvious for everyone: When you go past 100% peril and the blowup animation starts to play, you can still use your ability to instantly quell 50% peril and stop yourself from dying. Another peril-related thing is that when charging up brain burst, charging it with left click will let you safely use it even if you were on 99% peril the moment you started charging it. Using your right click in that scenario will get you blown up instead. You can chain brain bursts together at max peril with left click infinitely, provided you quell even for a second between each one.

    You can tank daemonhosts as psyker also. Whatever that perk is that adds to peril when blocking, instead of using stamina. You will have to dodge her but it's actually really easy.

    9:10 there is a blessing that reduces Peril on hitting a weakspot for Melee Weapons. It is just INSANE :D

    Great tips! I’ll say be sure to incorporate slides when being shot at, you’d be surprised how easily you can get out of a hairy situation scratch free as long as you’re relatively near some cover and can pull this off.

    Great info for people who care about getting better at the game. The problem is the other part of the playerbase who just want to run forward, aggro half of the map, get themselves killed and then leave the game. Bonus points for not insulting the team before leaving. Not many of them get those bonus points. That said, I have encountered such players a lot less than I feared I would.

    Same with Vermintide 2. I hate teammates that just run forward swinging and shooting until they get taken out, while leaving teammates behind. You don’t get bonus points for finishing a level quickly.

    As for the last tip; Extracting is far more important than reviving. If you cant quickly and easily get them up, dont.

    good vid bro. I have already 320 hours in darkitde but still could get a few useful tips. I knew that I should change my jump key but could not think about an alternate key.. in hindsight left alt is the logical choice, its so obvious.. silly me :) thanks for upload. Merry Christmas! :)

    Probably has been mentioned by others already. Stick together and share each others team buffs, stay in cover and use walls and choke points so snipers or trappers can’t pick you off causing a domino effect of team downs.

    Thanks dude, never thought that Zealot ability also gives penetration to ranged weapons (i mean that's illogical your faith to the empreror can't do such things 😅). Also would add so people target elites when using this ability you gonna go much further in the distance.

    There is also a 'sweet spot' for max peril when head popping. I think they fixed it with a long downtime where you cannot vent but if you head pop around 95% peril you wont pop. Vent down to 95 and pop. Repeat.

    When your psyker is about to explode with 100% peril and the animation plays with their hands holding their face, you can still cancel this by using your hero ability. This should give you an extra brain burst or second charge from your staff before needing to quell peril.

    If you backstab with a charged force sword on bosses, it removes a huge chuck of their life. I am sure it is the same with the thunder hammer and chain sword/hammer. Haven't tried those yet though.

    Power sword for psyker build I have has the range block and then infinite dodge. Pretty damn nice.

    Axes are great on one to one damage. Swords are great at swiping down groups but dont have quiet the hitting power of axes. I guess that is something to take into consideration when you are going on missions. I also use like a combat shot gun for mid range on my zealot. I find my team mates usually take the ranged trash in a hurry and I use the combat shot gun to pick off what left or delay enemies that are closing in on my team mates. It seems to be working okay.

    Don't forget, psykers with lightning staff can stun pox hounds, mutants, and pox bursters.

    I’ve had a daemonhost kill 3 of my team once.. one guy rage quite as he died so the daemon swapped to me and killed me, then the remaining bot leftover couldn’t do anything so we auto defeated.

    Forget the daemonhost and the beast of Nurgle, I’m way more scared of the sniper in this game. Most of the games I’ve lost so far were because myself and teammates getting killed by a sniper.

    Im really trying to work on the push abililtiy of my zealots and ogryn. The zealots have like the ability to swing while mobile and take down enemies in motion, though it takes some timing to catch the swing animation just right to have the weapon catch the enemey just right. It can save a life if you time your swings and catch a couple of enemies out if they are ganging up on you. Ive also did a push/swing while I was in a corner. I was impressed at how it kept the enemies back until other players could come and take out the rest. I had my back to a wall and was fighting from a corner to. Its not a recommended best pratices, but it can work to delay and trip up enemies until help arrives or you can open a path for escape. Yes, ESCAPING and running from enemies and leading them to your other team mates who can cut them down while you are chasing them is a viable tactic. I dont mind running for my life being bait so my team can save my rear from hordes!

    Great video! I want your opinion though, if you're a psyker rocking the Cerebral Lacerations perk, if a Daemonhost is triggered by accident, do you reckon it's better to go ham on the DH as a team to save your teammate or just bail entirely at the expense of said teammate?

    The DH behavior can be quite random. When we were newer and didnt know how to handle them, we would bail and just go for the rescue. Sometimes, we would be a good 2 or 3 rooms away and the DH would finish off the first member and teleport to us an re-engage. If you choose to fight, if you pump all your DPS into it while the target blocks, you should still only lose one member. However, if the initial target is an Ogryn or Psyker (with the Peril on block Feat) you won't lose anyone.

    I would say, dont entirely poo poo on your bot team mates. They can be handy. Also be careful of your surviving with bots. Its quiet possible if you perish and you are the only human on that team, your risk of a failed run goes up significantly! Be extra careful of your vitality with bot teammates. Let them go ahead and handle the fights, etc. Also be aware that while playing bots can be replaced with human players quiet suddenly as players can enter your run through the "quickplay" option on the mission map, so its not a bad idea to keep on eye on the team readouts to see if humans have replaced bots. The visual cue for that is that the health and toughness bar suddenly refreshes during play.

    Unfortunately, Xbox controller users, like me, cannot rebind any buttons. That means no alternate dodge, and no tying Mark and Attack together.

    One thing that MUST be stressed is that I dont think there is a bonus for the amount of monsters killed. If you are near a transition point, is it really necessary to go chasing down monsters and risk getting killed when all that is needed is to get into the next elevator? I often have to ask "WTF GUYS?"" while they are smacking around monsters with the extraction point clearly open and ready to go. Just get in the next transition point, especiallyt the extraction! Unless there is a bonus for amount of kills, then I can see that, but not often.

    Not sure how much they changed it but the patch notes say they fixed the reload canceling. They had it listed as an exploit. I haven't be on to test the changes yet but according to notes it was patched.

    weapons that takes enemies down too the ground when firing also push poxwalkers down to the ground the same way as a push, you just dont burst fire at it so it dies. I usually do this more than pushing it backwards from melee as if im in a Corner and cant dodge back then ill get hit anyway. Its more of a situation thing ofcourse but I feel more safe being further away from them lol.

    found upgrading a high ranked weapon from blue has givern me my highest weapon, 510 hammer. Still ive only recently gotten to 30 with 2 characters so split between them. What is the highest weapon people have?

    Ive been playing for a few days now. It seems that pscyhers are a very common class while ogryns not so much. There isnt always an ogryn but there is almost always a pschyer then sharpshooters then zealots come in a close 2nd with sharpshooters being a bit more common then zealots. Just some stats.

    As a zealot I mostly go all-in on melee with a chainsword, only using my boltgun to use on heavy armoured Steves. When approaching a flock of ranged Steves you notice a flash before they shoot. On that exact time make a slide move when charging in. They'll mostly shoot over you or miss you and you get close get a few free hits until they finally swapped to their melee weapons.

    Something I'm not seeing much I wanna throw in regarding collectibles: Grimoires, unlike Scriptures DO NOT drop when the person carrying them dies. They are forever lost. If the game hasn't already made it obvious to you, PLAY TOGETHER. Anyone carrying a Grimoire should get priority protection. Or, leave them to be carried but more survivable classes like the Zealot or Ogryn.

    Be very careful of massed ranged fire. I would rather fire 4 crushers than two teams of Laz with a sprinkle of gunners any day of the week. This is doubly true for the chonker that is the Ogryn. You are three times the size of the rest of the classes, you are therefore three times as big of a target, and most cover will not help you. Hell I'd do so far to say that on higher difficulties you're better off bring zealots as your frontline and leaving the orgyn at home, theres just too many big rooms with no viable cover at all for our large friends, so unless your team can gun down the gun lines they're in for a lot of pain.

    I don't think your reload tip actually makes anything faster, you're already chambering the weapon before switching to melee and then you always have to chamber the weapon again when pulling it back out regardless of whether you did it before or not

    If +wounds increases the amount of wound bars and times you can be revived, dodge limit is the (invisible) number of bars that make up how many dodges you can perform in a row. This invisible bar does refill rapidly, but not while you are dodging back to back.
