Height is a rather important option indeed. I made maxed out short veteran and they can shoot through those barricade window things, while a taller character has a bad angle, crouched or not. Its really cool how height ACTUALLY has an interesting gameplay element to it.

@@romamoran1337 Ogryns still faster though. The slide trick is likely to be fixed, but even doing it, your not quicker than an Ogryn running the cell. But it's a good tactic I'd none are in your match or nearby.

With about 35 hours of practice on exclusively psyker, I can definitely say it takes perseverance to make it to 30. You will suck until you get feats, but man, Heresy is almost easy at full build, provided you have a good team to protect you. If you pick psyker, just stick with it! You'll be a warp god in time, I promise!

@@Aniallationfulable yes. they suck at low levels. Once you get your staves you start to feel powerful. But once you get the feats that combo well with each other thats when you really start to come online

Hey man, you actually managed to insert so much info even me, having played 100 hours in the last beta, learned something new. Really nice introductory video.

It pains me to say this because the music is awesome, but turning it down/off helped me a ton with the more subtle audio queues for incoming specialists and such.

@ItalianSpartacus Folks like you who know these kinds of games probably don't need to! Casual gamers like me loose track of fine detail in the chaos. It does help me lot though! The sound queues are all useful! There's different audio between the two types of flamers. With bombers if you hear the pin drop then you're probably the immediate target for his grenade. Hearing trappers muttering gives you a great idea of how far away they might be and from what direction they're approaching, helpful if you're sniping from a perch and at risk of being singled out. It's actually pretty brilliant. This is a dark game most of the time, even without lights-out events, so the sound queues are lifesavers! Btw your stuff has been my primary source of info for this game during beta and I learn something new every time. Can't tell you how helpful these videos have been for someone new to the tide games. Thank you!!

Hi, enjoy your content very much! Wanted to add something to your guide (that many guides miss imho): Sharpshooter class is the most damaging class out of all - but he relies on finite resource management and reload times add to his inactivity, while psyker is resource agnostic mostly and can sustain dps without ever picking any supplies (which can be used by other team members), zealot has burst dps capabilities compared to sharpshooter but his melee orientation makes it difficult to sustain dps, he is very tanky though, and Ogryn can do dps but he is more valuable for his crowd control. He has most CC out of all classes - ether through suppression or knockdown with ranged and stagger or knockdown with melee. Ogryn holds the line not because he is a tank (zealot can be more of a tank), but because he holds the wave or elites or bosses in place, allowing everyone else to do damage.

I hardly push or block, sometimes when in the middle of swapping weapons, I guess. Heavy attacks, while dodging, and leaning into the blow. Sword swipes left, turn towards the left at the same time with the mouse, and dodge to the right, and vice versa. Occasionally dodging back or blocking, when you hear the 'you're being attacked sound queue'. The hordes like to attack your blind spots. Doing it that way, I cover my blind spots, and I can shepherd a horde into a specific zone by cancelling and cleaving only to the left or right. I don't know, works for me. I can crowd control massive waves and stagger ragers at the same time. Veteran with power sword, Ogryn with club. Something with a lot of lateral cleave. Cancel anim quickly before it goes to vertical blow and you'll cleave for days.

Yea the push isn't as effective as in vermintide but your right I've been playing veteran with power sword and activate it ready a heavy attack into a mob and dodge back really cleans house

One thing i like to do when fighting of hordes is instead of just pushing and pushing is: charge your power sword/chainsword, approach the horde swing one/two times block dogde backwards and repeat.

If you're new, just pick veteran, still the most broken class for the harder difficulties, and you really don't need other classes (except maybe an ogryn with a shield) to complete lvl 5. The devs seem to not want to touch their poster child, even though they destroyed the other two classes from beta to live (zealot,psyker). Best melee weapon, best ranged weapon, most ammo from passive.

Simple tip which so many people don't do if you are in front of your team mates shooting, crouch down! So they have a clearer line of fire behind you, less ammo wasted and enemies brought down quicker. In the higher difficulties you want every slight advantage you can get, so start getting in the habit of crouching 😜.

Yea I've been in so many matches where I'll be firing into an oncoming horde and the melee ding dongs will dive in front and strafe side to side blocking all my shots... Best teams I've been with everyone knows their firing lines and the melee lads will play clean up crew or rotate in when appropriate like reloading or hordes coming from different sides.

Trying to push your item rating up does not take perk and blessing rating into account, just base rating. So, you don't need to buy the highest item available, you just need to buy the highest base rating available which may not necessarily be the highest item rating available. I tried to just sit and get the highest rating and have been stuck with 300 base rating weapons for a week, it wasn't until they released the game that I noticed there was a total rating and a base rating and pushing my base rating I am now reliably getting 330 weapons sitting with a max rating of 360 in my inventory.

Thank you for those setting tips they made a huge difference in performance for me.

My advice to anyone starting is don't try and get to the highest difficulty you can. Just run 1 - 3 and complete them. Youll progress fast

I dont know if its been said but biggest enemy to Veteran is the Ogryn's massive chonky back. I shoot Ogryn back meat more than enemies. Still love to see them in squad. lol.

Those advanced stats on the weapon are not accessible in the live version of the game.

Ogryn is not a tank. It’s more of a bodyguard-support class to keep ranged classes safe. Thinking about ogryn as a tank will make your life super disappointing

"Choosing your planet doesnt matter at all" Uhhhh.....cadia? If you are a veteran you unlocked a cadia personality if you choose that planet

I started with the Zealot (only lvl 6) and it’s rough. Everyone kills things at range before I get to melee them. I have only tried the shotgun (inconsistent dmg ranges for me) and the braced guns which I like so far. So maybe that will get better. I can get into a mob of weak enemies and swing my axe to my hearts content, almost toughness tanking. Definitely enjoying my first 40k game so far.

Stick with it. Look for melee weapons with a good amount of cleave capability. Block, block push, cleave. You will survive most encounters, more guns will be available for you soon. It's RNG as to what's available in the armory every hour

I'd say Zealot isn't the easiest class to start with, but gets more fun once you figure it out. Ogryn and Veteran are the easier classes to get started with. Zealot is a melee berserker but is squishier than the Ogryn. Psyker has the highest skill floor, but also a pretty high skill ceiling.

Hey Spartacus, thx for the work again here:) May something for the weekly tasks: It took some time to figure out when the counter work for dregs or scabs works. A friend and me are pretty sure its depends of the kind elites which you encounter in the lvl. So far there is no possibilitiy to see which kind of enemy you will fight in a mission (correct me if iam wrong). F.e. if you fight against scab elites the weekly counter for dregs will dont work even you slay the pox walkers or corrupted cultists (think the game handle this mobs as a neutral faction i guess). What do you think about this? In german we got other names for this enemy types. So its way confusing. The scabs for example are called "Verräter" in german which can be translated as "traitors". And dregs are for us "Kriecher" which means some kind of low grunts for this purpose (originaly "Kriecher" would mean someone who crouches^^').

Great video, although I'm not sure if this has changed somehow but in almost all games including Darktide DLSS is objectively better than FSR 2. It is the exact same technology, but uses actual hardware to accelerate it. DLSS quality looks BETTER than native resolution while performing better as well. FSR 2 quality is more in line with DLSS balanced, which is where many people get confused. Even DLSS 2 Performance looks similar to FSR 2 Quality and performs significantly better. I play at DLSS Balanced and can get 80+ fps with high ray tracing without issue.

It's gotten SOOOOO much better man. DLSS is absolutely the way to go now. They patched it and it was night and day. It used to tank FPS, if not just outright crash your game

I played mostly second ranked with different effects to get that high cash n exp, im a zealot 23 now n I simply grinded those till I got what drip I wanted now its about getting weapons match the mission

Definitely the best advice is turn down that camera sway. Had played a good amount at 100% (made me nauseous playing Ogryn Melee) before realizing I could adjust it.

Honestly, I would not recommend high FOV. Fatshark impliments FOV very poorly where it looks like it's stretching the environment rather than actually pulling the camera back, and can be detrimental to your in game depth perception in my opinion. I have a much harder time seeing stuff in front of me, immediate threats with that much higher than default. Food for thought.

I disagree on your interpretation portion in the video section. It should be noted that the choice is entirely dependent on the gpu you have. People with nvidia 2-4000 series will more likely have better results with DLSS. While AMD and older Nvidia cards would benefit from either of AMD's version. FidelityFX. This distinction should be in this quick start video.

Totally valid man, but as I was saying, DLSS is not optimized and I have a GTX 3080. I get 50-70 FPS with DLSS vs 80-100 FPS with FFX 2.0. In the video where I solely discuss that, I'll be showing off the actual FPS and the differences. Any other instance, I'd always recommend the dynamic resolution intended for your GPUs infrastructure, but in this case, there definitely seems to be an issue. I've tried a ton of different configurations because I need to optimize FPS and visual fidelity since this is my job, and this has been the best result for me personally. But even Fatshark has told us that their DLSS wasn't optimized. This was of course during the beta so I hope that changes soon

I had a strange bug where there was no sound. Seems to be gone now. Yay.

i wish people would at least watch a vid like this before jumping into T3 Missions. im not touching 4 and 5 with randoms when even at 3 half the time my team is just not ready for it.

- I heard the huge Skullbreaker guy is trash on higher difficulty. That his melee specialization doesn't work at that level and the pro's avoid him. I heard this from a friend who read it somewhere and I was hoping to get an confirmation or another opinion. My fav char is the psyker since the fire witch in vermintide was my jam but I was really looking forward to trying out just a meat mountain opposite of what I usually go with.

ADDENDUM FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION. In char creation there are TWO things that your character bacground DO effect. If you take CADIA, it unlocks 2 eye colors. Iknow, I know, WHOOP-DE-DOO, bit it IS a thing technically.

When you inspect and hover over each attribute , you'll see two numbers in darker gray serrated by a spacer, looks like this: 15.00 | 20.00 That shows you the interval that the attribute can score between :) does that work?
