Top 9 Secret Reasons For Knee Pain 3 Months Or More After Meniscus Surgery

Meniscus surgery is usually done with the expectation that you’ll have a normal knee in a few short months after surgery.

I had a meniscus tear that was removed in 1998, when I was 21 years old. Arthritis, and eventually, a TKR wasn't needed until 2019. Pretty successful procedure, I'd say. Now I'm preparing for another meniscutomy for my other knee that is still arthritis-free. Hope it lasts as long as the other knee. Thanks for the video.

I live in a 2 story split-level house and walk up and down stairs multiple times during the course of the day. My meniscus surgery was over 6 months ago and I am in so much pain some days I can barely leave the house to check the mail. I experience more pain walking on a flat surface than when I use the stairs. I'm using 2 canes to help alleviate weight-bearing on my knee. Am I aggravating the healing process or are the stairs good for me? Thank you, this is a very informative channel.

I had meniscal surgery and was doing great at 2 weeks, then started PT which hurt my knee. At 5 weeks I was at the gym doing upper body weight lifting and stopped to do 10 minutes on the bicycle, no drag. Two days later I could hardly walk on my knee. Now two weeks later, the front of my knee hurts with sharp tearing like pain when I step on my leg. I am very athletic and never had arthritis before the surgery. I had issues with putting weight on the leg after a knee injury during skiing, which I ski all season. I am beginning to think I did the wrong thing in attempting to fix my knee to be able to ski again at an expert level on pack slopes. I am at 8 weeks now. I stopped doing PT after I injured my knee. Wondering if my knee will ever be any better.

I had my right meniscus surgery back in March 24, 2012. My surgeon (who is now deceased since 2022) had removed all the tissue out of my right knee. I would therapy with a couple of therapists who were kind of rude of wanting me to recover quickly in a few weeks instead of months. After eleven years I have been walking and running normally and I hated the fact that I have no muscle in my right knee, just bones rubbing together and stiffness which discouraged me. The only thing they gave me was blood transfusion and not a meniscal replacement or transplant, because that was only solution that available back then. I guess I just have to deal with my right knee having a hollow shape and different than my left knee. I don't want a knee replacement because it would be horrible situation. I tend to live with my current situation although I have bone on bone stiffness in my right knee when I bend, squat, kneel, slowly walking up and down stairs and sit difficultly in a lotus position every now and then. When I stand up straight, I would have wrinkles on my right knee because of missing meniscus muscles.

It’s not a good surgery. I’ve had it. It did relieve a lot of crippling pain but not all. At that time I didn’t need knee replacement. The Pain had to be caused by arthritis. I was in discomfort until I received an injection of A2M (Alpha 2 Macroglobulin) which is known to heal arthritis. I received it at a regenerative place & Within 2 weeks I completely had no pain, and no pain for the next 2years! In later years I started taking omega 3 & antioxidants and exercising more. Being overweight or becoming overweight agrevates the knees. There are A2M offices all over country. Just get a well trained, Ortho to do it that has good experience using it & understands the knee operation.
