you forgot the porsche 917! not only did it dominate in lemans, i later years the 917/30 variant (which developed 1500hp in the 1970s btw) even managed to get the can-am championship canceled because every other manufacturer apart from porsche pulled out (edit: hp number was off)

@@lous2187senna never drove the type 79, let alone win in it. It also only won one championship and 6 races total. It was the fastest car yes, but the brabham and Ferrari also won races. Even more the following year Jody scheckter won the drivers totale. The still in use lotus 79 did not win a single race. So the 79 does not belong on the list at all

Absolutely, and for the creator of this video to visually hint that the Quattro is arguably the best (after telling us the Polo was statistically the best over a very short period) is just showing utter ignorance of Rally. The Delta absolutely trounced everything else... it's the definition of this video! KZread, you need to work on your algorithms; I seem to be getting a lot of junk in my feed of late!

True, especially the Can-Am 917s were almost similarly "category-killers" like the R32. They were so dominant that they implemented fuel regulations, and as Porsche pulled out, the category it raced in was scrapped. Can-Am still lived on though, only to be paused by the oil crisis shortly after (which is quite funny that they went from some of the thirstiest race cars ever to a fuel limit and then to no racing at all due to a fuel shortage in the span of three consecutive seasons)

For me the Polo WRC will always be my favorite rally car. I got into rallying bc of it, as a lil kid I'd get a magazine every week or so, reading about the Polo winning another event and being happy about it. I still remember the sadness when I heard it would never race again and on games, I would immediately pick it.

Kind of suprised not to see the early 2000's Dodge Viper there. I've heard stories of it similar to the R32 in which it would get nerfed to the ground and STILL win

RB19 was the most dominant car ever in F1 but before that was the previous dominant car the Mclaren Honda MP4/4 that won 15 out of 16 races (93,75 %) in the 1988 season, with a Honda RA168E V6 turbo and it had 2 of the greatest drivers ever and the best 2 drivers lineup , the champion of that year Ayrton Senna (3 times WDC) and his teammate Alain Prost (4 times WDC)

You should do a “Top 7 most Dominating cars” just cars. Not race cars. Like just cars from different segments, van, sedan, suv. Like that

I don't remember the exact car, I think it was the Brabham BT42, whatever the one that won the swedish grand prix in 1982 was, technically dominated more than any other car ever made. It was only ever entered into that race before being made illegal in F1, and it was so much faster than anything else that the drivers were told to intentionally drive slower in practice and qualifying so there weren't any suspicions raised until after the race

The elephant in the room… McLaren MP4/4, 1988. Senna and Prost with 15 wins from 16 grands prix, 15 poles, 10 fastest laps and 1003 laps led from a total of 1031. Furthermore this was a time of fast but fragile machines, manual gearboxes that needed to be “heel and toed” and grenade engines for qualifying. For me it eclipses the CFD designed stuff of today.

I was about to mention the Porsche 917, but glad somebody else did. Except they failed to mention this: A car with with 90's F1 performance built in the '60s, capable of instilling fear in the burliest of man, only became drivable after the K variant with a tail that actually put some downforce into the car, and a pressurized tube chassis to tell the pilot WHEN it would crack. Tuned for 1500HP in qualify and north of one thousand during actual races, it just didn't win more championships because the massive 7.2L engine made of 2x 911's welded together was banned. When Porsche doesn't get outright banned, they sweep podiums.

The 1500hp ones were only for can-am racing with twin turbos bolted onto the flat 12 the latest one being the 917-30, but the endurance spec ones never had that much power at any points

I feel you could mention Mazda 787B. Yes, it only won once, but to be forbidden after just 1 victory is impressive enough.

2:22 Id like to point out that some of the old WRC chassis were converted to run in the FIA WorldRX championship for 2017, 18 and 20 They won championships in all theyre seasons there as well, missing out on constructors in 2020 due to it only being one car in the team. So the Polo R has another 5 titles to add

Ogier and Leob made econo-boxes look like the most desireable cars ever, the French can build them and race them well
