Misleading title, you can't have a list of BEST ADV without a GS. Not a fan of GS, but give credit where it's due. I can agree it not being number 1 with all the new advancement in other ADV's; but to be completely left off gives less credibility to your list. But it's your channel, do what you want, cheers!

I guess you didn't want to talk about the one everyone knows, but I'd still pick a r1200/1250gs over any of these. It's not the best on paper, but from my research, it's still faster and more practical for off-road than the Pan-Am. Also, I'm surprised the KLR650 didn't come up as a budget option. It may be sold more as a dual-sport but they're easily an entry adv with some of the add-ons you can get, especially now that ABS is available on it.

The BMW 1250 GS ADVenture Is the king, and need it's own list. No other bike can touch it. If you think about BMW 850 GS. You can just as well get the 1250 (or 1200 if you get a little older bike) They don't fell any more heavy. And the 850 GS is already a very heavy bike. So why don't get the best handling big bike. If you want a light ADV, get a CRF300 or any of the other small bikes that almost every one can take on a single track. If HD get the dirt glide a face lift, so it looks more like a nice bike. They can have a chance. How it look now, I would not have used it, even if I got it for free. Sold it and got a real bike instead… Like the 1250 GS ADV.

Yea I think the CB500X is a better choice than the CRF300L Rally for smaller ADV. If we're looking at the more offroad oriented ADVs from Honda then I think the next step down from Africa Twin would be the XR 650 not the CRF300L Rally.

I do some serious weekly mileage on my CRF300 Rally and it is much more refined than you might think. 75mph all day and comfortable with it. 83.2 mpg at that speed and brilliant in City traffic too. Most remote dirt roads will not allow you to put the power down on the bigger bikes. Remember, those horrendous adventure roads are the daily commute for locals and tackled on Honda step-throughs lol.

Don’t know what that scrambler is doing on the list but the new Tiger 850 Sport is pretty sweet for those who don’t need all the goodies from the 900. Also never talked about in exciting circles but always a staple (and probably what most people actually need) is the WeeStrom. For those doing 80-99% highway the VStrom 650 is about as practical and comfortable as it gets, for a good price, too. The T7 would be my bet, for the closer to (or aspiring to be) 50/50 off the path rider. The Tiger would be my wild card if one test rode those two and didn’t like it or wanted a lower seat height, etc.

To see how reliable it will be. Since HD has had problems with making there old air cooled V twin engines that have been around for ever. In my opinion unless you have extensive off road experience on real dirt bike's and are in very good physical condition don't think riding a 550 lbs ADV off road is going to be a lot of fun. But everyone has there own idea of fun. I do admire the videos with the expert rider's jumping and sliding the big ADV bike's.
