@@benzoFE88 Basically a select number of top players and TOs take a survey on where THEY would place these players, creating a subjective list based on informed opinions on how good you are independent of tournament placings. Your X-factor is the difference, (Actual PGR placement) - (X-Survey placement). To make it easy to understand, look at Nietono. He was ranked 45th, had an X-factor of +20, so according the X-Survey he's considered the 25th best player, not the 45th. This could mean he fell through the cracks of the algorithm, didn't attend enough to prove how good he is to the algorithm, underperformed relative to how good players think he is, etc. In his case he's Japanese and didn't travel a lot or face many other top 50 players which the PGR algorithm hates.

Makotito Niijima yeah he should. Most of these people are carried by one good result except proto who places top 16 at all notable events. Proto should be higher than wishes but hey, maybe next season

Proto be going up now!

I knew WaDi would be _the_ gatekeeper to the potential Top 20, but I still expected him as a low 20, not a mid-20. Also, MuteAce being closer to Puppeh than NAKAT in scoring was also a big surprise to me. Replace a 17th with a 13th or 9th, and MuteAce would've stayed ahead I guess.

The Japanese are totally underrated. Abadango was complaining that the ranking is focusing too much on notable wins. He beat ken and Choco twice,who are both top20 players but are not ranked, but isn’t rewarded at all. The Japanese are taken a lot of points for loosing to other Japanese players that have top50 level skills, but are not known by the people making the rankings

Lion Cubz the algorithm is based half on tournament results and half on top player matchup. You’re right about the tournament result part, it’s unbiased by the people making it. But the latter is. like they didn’t give abadango for beating Choco and ken, which is much more difficult than beating the 31-50 players. Some players lost to YB or Ron in smash4, and the American judges would say that they lost to an unknown weak player and take a lot of points away. It’s totally unfair

ChemicalX An X factor of +5 means the panelists ranked the player 5 places higher than their tournament results

What is X-Factor?

X-factor comes from a ranking of 30 panelists (TO's, commentators, etc). It represents where they put the player when all of their opinions were put together. So, if they have an x-factor of +2 the panel put them 2 places higher than their actual place and if it's negative it means the panel put them lower. It's a subjective score versus the score of the algorithm.

I'm surprised Puppeh made it so high and Pandarian isn't on it

Pandarian is overated. He doesn't do particularly well at majors and never upsets big names. He is starting season 2 pretty well though with 7th at LTC and wins on Stroder and MuteAce.

I did hear that the PGR got delayed because the staff were discussing about whether to omit Ally's rank or not, but I wasn't sure whether they actually followed through with their dicussion. But judging by the fact that Ally isnt in like notable set win or notable set losses, I think he got ommited

Ally will not be in the pgr because he lied about the allegations which kept him from getting an early ban which allowed him to attend more tournaments. He’s a scumbag.
