I agree on #1.....That right Hearns hit Duran with looked like Duran got hit by lightning. Most brutal KO punch landed in a fight between two Hall of Famers of that magnitude. Nobody ever did that to Duran.

As an amateur boxer, I got to workout at the Kronk Gym in downtown Detroit. Thomas "Hitman" Hearns was there and taking a little light sparring. I was sparring trying to learn something. Mr. Hearns asked if I'd like let him give me a few pointers. Are you kidding? Please, just don't hurt me. It happened. Mr. Hearns accidentally caught me with a right hand that broke the sound barrier. Well, I heard the BOOM. I went down faster than my knees could buckle and Tommy Hearns only grazed my jaw. Grazed me. I was a big, strong guy too. 6'3"and 220 pounds, I was dead lifting 550 pounds to work out with, benching 300 pounds, and was in super shape. Tommy Hearns taught me that I had a jaw made from lollipops! 😅

Awesome list. Always thought the Sugar Ray Robinson KO of Gene Fullmer was the perfect punch, perfect timing, almost effortless. I'm also a massive Lennox fan so the KO on Rahman was a beauty. What's so fantastic is the overhead shot of Rahman on the canvas with his head sitting perfectly central inside the crown of Don King's logo on the canvas. There's poetry in that. Canello Alvarez KO of Amir Khan was a surprise omission but guess it was at 51 :) Thank you, Rummy! Another great vid.

Seeing Burt Cooper brought up some crazy memories for me. In 1996 I was working and living at a resort in the Catskills . Bruce Seldon had his training camp for his Tyson fight there. Bert was there as a sparring partner to emulate Tyson's style. I was in my early 20s and a huge boxing fan back then too, so I was pumped watching the sparring and hanging out with the fighters. I knew who Cooper was from his fight with Holyfield and Foreman. But I didn't know about his documented struggles with addiction at the time. Long story short me and couple buddies who worked there took Cooper out drinking and all hell broke loose after that. The next morning the trainer was at breakfast asking if anybody knew where Bert was. He was missing, which was strange because he didn't know anyone in this tiny town of Monticello, NY. That's when I found out he wasn't getting paid for sparring till the end of the training camp. They didn't want him to have any cash on him and be tempted to go on a binge. Two days later I was opening the shop at 6am and a cab pulled up to the front door. I was there by myself and Bert comes out of the cab looking crazy ,all sweaty and bug eyed. He comes into the shop walks over to me and says "Hey man I gotz to have a hundred dollars". I went right over to register hit no sale and said here you go boss. It think it was about a week before they got him out of there and in treatment or something. He was actually a really good guy and had some great story's. It's a shame the demons got the best him. The story he told me about the Foreman fight was this huge conspiracy. He said Foremans team paid a couple girls to distract him before the fight. He said the night before the fight he was up all night partying. He was a true warrior and was just too small to be a Heavyweight in my opinion. RIP Coop

@@paulanthony5274 he came SO close to knocking out Moorer and Holyfield... Scored knockdowns against both, just couldn’t finish them.

I remember Cooper for destroying Willie DeWitt, a great white hope from Canada. Willie went onto become a lawyer and eventually a judge and poor Burt is gone.

I met Bert at the Palace of Auburn Hills the night he was to fight Samson Po Hua. He was in the stands watching some of the preliminaries. I sat next to him and wished him good luck with his fight. A very nice man.

Definitely some notable omissions. I thought Canelo on Kirkland and Wilder on Szpilka would be in there for sure. But amazing work as always Rummy, thanks for the history lesson!

Thank YOU for including Wilfred Benitez at #48!! I watched that fight in real time, at a pool hall in Puerto Rico when i was in college. My god, when Benitez stepped back, he knew the champ was not getting up!! Benitez broke a wicked smile and just watched Maurice Hope slump to the floor as in slow motion. Brutal!
