They kinda brought it back from Madden 25 on up with Connected Franchise mode by relocating your team. But the teams in it were either you keep your old team name or choose of the 3 pre-made team names and jerseys that went with it. I actually enjoyed it because in a way, it gave it more flavor than the full on customizations...granted i wish the mode had a similar way like newer NHL games did relocating teams and it would be a mix of the old way with the new way. I often remade the Atlanta Flames in NHL games by relocating the Calgary Flames back to Atlanta which was awesome in its own way. Even updated the jerseys by implementing black into the color scheme which the Flames did back in the mid to late 90s. From 2022 on up, the Flames went back to just old school red, yellow, and white and nearly phased out black from its colors. I think that has to do with the fact that alot of sports teams whether its NFL or NHL or MLB...are calling back to old throwback uniforms over newer updated designs that began in 1997. Only a handful of teams havent reverted to their older unis such as the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL but the news broke a week or two ago that the Eagles have applied to return back their Kelly Green jerseys starting in the 2023 season)

They should bring back the pre game presentation. With the coming out of the bus and stuff

I miss Dynamic Attendance. It was a little addition but added so much realism to franchise. If a team was bad their stadium would be half full. If a team was getting blown out the stadium would start to empty in the 4th quarter. Just made it more satisfying when you were whipping another teams ass. lol

One of my most favorite moments in all of madden was when my brother was on the verge to break the rushing record with his new rookie RB and in a meaningless game at the end if the season trying rack up stats I crushed him and it was a career ending injury and he was devastated and it went done in our family lore of playing madden

In the old NCAA games you player would start to celebrate sometimes and unless you stopped him you would get an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Those are the kind of things they need to bring back

Custom player tattoos should be brought back. Also, the addition of actual player tattoos. Stupid that the EA/NFL doesn't have them in the game if they are trying for realism. The helmet popping off on some hit sticks would be cool again too.

The League squashed the customization options as well. You could relocate teams, and design your logo and unis, but now you can only choose from a small selection of preset teams and unis.

Dynamic attendance needs to come back. What's the point of having an owner mode if attendance isn't impacted by the things it should be impacted by? Full stadiums are great, but unrealistic in many situations.

I miss that. I remember I drafted my player from NCAA, played in franchise mode, then retired and came back as coach.

I know this might be an unpopular opinion, but I would like to see ejections in madden and penalties that would lead to ejections just to make it more realistic. Also it would keep you honest and really give a good reason to upgrade that discipline trait.

They used to have the option that you could play the Allstars, NFC our AFC aginst any team . You had the option to play the Pro Bowl. Nowdays you have to play Dynasty our Franchise in order to play a Pro Bowl game .

Don't let this distract you from the fact that Hector is going to be running three Honda Civics with Spoon engines. And on top of that, he just went into Harry's and he ordered three T66 turbos with NOS... and a Motec system exhaust.

Fucking Madden 07 superstar mode. I'm still playing that mode to this day! They need to bring it back with more options like choosing to do advertisements or which touchdown celebration you want to do. It genuinely made me feel like the player.

Videos like this really make you think about how dull Madden is these days. Games like MLB and 2K have small things in there games that make huge differences. Every EASports titles seem to forget about the small things that make the bigger picture. Anyway great video.

Because a game is played a lot does not mean it's not dull bro... people get Madden to just play against each other but offline one player is boring cuz you don't get immersed in the game. They don't have presentation anymore, no sideline interviews, halftime show is weak, no player entrances, no crowd... there's barely any presentation outside of the little cutscene entrances. NCAA football was not at all boring, cuz you at least had entrances and then the crowd was in it and you had their chants and fight songs. And especially with MLB the show you can import your own music and chants. I enjoy playing Madden but only if it's online or with friends, outside of that it's a boring dull game

The NHL games are great though. They’re the exception to the rule. Amazing commentary, fights being able to affect the momentum of a game by giving the winning player’s team more energy, presenting the games like an actual NBC broadcast, and other features make the NHL games stand out in comparison to other EA Sports franchises.

Why can´t we have Corner Routes as Hot Routes? At least have them in offline CFM or so if they think it´s too powerful online..

You can... you just need to use the play formations and change the hot routes from the play calling menu

bring back prestige for players. A starting qb that is a backup should not be happy.

When you could create your own team and build your stadium and still make your own jerseys. I believe it was Madden 08 for ps2 but i really enjoyed that.

The equipment such as mouth pieces, colored visors, Tattoos on your created player. The newer maddens need to get rid of them preset heads for a player. Bringing back the hit stick to the game would make the game actually better.

Thats a great point about the attendance. It was a vital part of franchise mode. If your team struggled, the attendance suffered and so did your bottom line, putting you at risk of ending the season in the red.

They need to have target tackling/injury.. You could hit somebody square in the chest and they’d go down holding their leg....

I don’t recall what exact game they stopped doing it, but the announcers/commentators used to say the name of your created player if it was common enough. They would say your number otherwise, but they don’t even do that anymore I don’t think

What's crazy is I actually enjoyed Madden better on PS2. Then I do on the new consoles. I still enjoy franchise mode, but it's soooooo boring now. Back in the PS2 Days they had an radio show that mirrored your season. I remember being 13-0 ans they where talking about it! Nothing like that now. And NBA 2k Online is such a more better all around online experience its crazy!

Like if ea ruined madden for life

Madden 19 needs to show highlights of other games during regular season play... Like NFL Game break in real life... I remember Madden 92 used to show an end of the game field goal highlight of another game on the cartridge games... Madden today is very unrealistic and is nothing like the real NFL on Sundays on CBS, FOX, NBC, ESPN and NFL Network.... I loved the ambulance.

EA was scared straight of 2K Sports success of NFL football games because they knew EA didn't have the technology to defeat 2K Sports.... The NFL finally gave in during 2006 and it's been a nightmare ever since...

stephen benjamin: I agree 100%.... The gameplay is sick, especially in the rain.. And that game is 10 years old.

I missed those real-time settings. It was cool when I was down the street from soldier Field and it was snowing and the game reflected that. That was a super cool feature.

stadium customization, the “sims” like create a player game mode, afros (and more intense player customization), create a team, etc. etc.

Apparently they banned realism from the game....and they also banned half time shows, touchdowns celebrations and highlight reels. NFL 2K5...still the greatest football game ever made.

Superstar mode from 2008. You could only control your created player, and only when they were on the field. Spectated the rest of the plays (which they need to bring back). Played as a Saints DB rookie year in the NB position; got to cheer on Deuce McAllister and Drew from the sidelines when the offense was on the field (with an auto sideline cam!). Could be ANY position, even kicker or right guard if you wanted.

Ea has ruined madden I don't enjoy playing 18 at all just simply sucks they need to quit making football games and let someone else try

They should pay us to play this garbage 💩

In madden ‘97 when you created a player you had to do a bunch of combine workouts. Like insane button mashing to run a timed 40. I miss that.

I haven't seen all comments but the ones that I read did not mention the situation mode, being down 6 with 1 minute left and you have drive down the field with no time outs left. Such a fun game mode really miss it.

I miss situation mode, where you could start a game halfway though or in the middle of the 4th quarter and set the score, field position, and starting situation. Not only was it great for recreating real life moments and comebacks, but it was also a great way to continue a game if your console froze half way through.

The only way to fix Madden is to stop playing Madden and stop buying Madden. The only way to get good video game football back is to NEVER BUY MADDEN AGAIN.

Easily the #1 thing I miss is Superstar mode

Anony Mous madden superstar never compared to ncaa though! Madden seemed bland and boring. Ncaa was always fun

And M Did you play it? Yeah NCAA was fun but Superstar was not bland. The things you could do, like interviews, go to your agent to request more playing time, star in movies..., and the thing that I liked- when you first get drafted you can't choose the plays. And you have to work your way up the "ranks" to become a captain and pick plays

Anony Mous the customization in general was much much better. Pretty much before the ps3 and 360. After that it was all generic faces and gear

I miss being able to actually create my own play book like from the formation to blocking assignment to how big of a drop back for the QB

I miss being able to play the pro bowl in quick game and franchise mode and I miss the playoff feature from madden 08 were you can select what teams are in the playoffs and you can choose how many teams are in the playoffs from 8 teams, 16 teams, and even a full 32 team playoff bracket I hope these features/modes get added back into future madden games

I need nfl blitz back so I can do late hits when I’m loosing

Soulslasher60 yeah but if it's also skill and 99 overall player is a wide receiver and you float the ball to him over the middle and he gets cracked by a safety. That's not a skill that setting up for an injury and he should be injured

They should put actual fights, like if a game is really tense & the person who is winning can start dissing there opponents if they choose. Like for example, OBJ & Josh Norman, those kind of things make the game have an actual story to it like in your own way, it’s just an opinion though, I don’t need anyone bashing me even if you think it’s a stupid idea. In my opinion I like a real story, it just keeps me close to my game.

Storylines make it more interesting otherwise you are just playing the same mindnumbing games with no emotion in a game where THERE is Lots of emotion .. i think they ejections and yeah Smack Talking .. EMOTIONS IN A CONTACT SPORT i know the crazy ideas :)

my fav feature was when on defense, right before your opponent hiked the ball you press the hit stuck down and it will be an all out blitz

I miss being able to create a team in franchise. Last time it was in was madden 12 I think. But you could make jerseys, stadiums, and it had a good choice of logos

I remember in the older games if you were up by like 30 the fans would start to leave. It was so fun watching the home crowd boo their own team and leave

I remember playing with a buddy of mine on Madden 99 back on PS1...I did a fake FG attempt and my quarterback was Steve Young. His linebacker dove at me trying to sack my QB. Steve Young ducked and the linebacker flew over him. Needless to say...Steve Young had enough time after that to dust off the football, clean it, and throw it in for a touchdown. I kid you not with that scene. I could tell you some stories from my childhood from playing old Madden games.
