Love this tail light comparison. I was considering the Alpharex lights but now think I'll just swap my bulbs for some super bright Vleds. It makes no sense to me to spend hundreds on lights that have less output than stock.

I considered the meso 🤣 But could not deny the the alpha Rex for my 22 off-road they simply look the best. And I sure could use a new white Taco !🙏 enjoying building my blacked out beauty.

I installed the Meso Customs Total Tail Stage 1 ( harness), on my 2023 Tacoma SR5 v6 4x4, the OEM taillight assembly is all red no chrome at all, did not have to install resistors. The price was $150 so definitely much cheaper than replacing the taillight assembly, much brighter than OEM in all stages. My girl wants to get me custom taillights for Christmas but I’m so happy with the Meso Customs harness that I’m keeping it on the truck.

Honestly though: I’m thankful you posted this video because it’s made me realize that all this is merely about preference & opinion. Replacing tail lights is all about aesthetics & it really doesn’t affect the overall performance of the truck in any way. So it seems silly to me to waste money on replacing stock tail lights that work & perform perfectly as is. But I am thankful you posted this video because it’s helped me realize this. ✌🏾

Saludos, yo instale las luces traseras MESO hace 6 meses, actualmente tienen problemas de mucha humedad que se les filtra y además el plástico transparente esta presentando reventaduras, una lástima pues me gustaban mucho, pero son de muy mala calidad, aunque el precio es muy alto. Ya compre las luces traseras de AlphaRex, voy a instalarlas y espero me resulten de mejor calidad.

Ohhhhh mannnnnnn. I have the previous version of the Alpha Rex and I absolutely love them!! But these are soooooooo coooooooool. Do not underestimate how awesome the smoked lens looks.

I think the oem design looks the best but some of these are nice as well

I love my the Meso customs tail lights, it’s definitely the best looking!

I think the winjet look the cleanest and spider look simple but cool and neither are to much. But I do like the meso sequential to match my headlights;)

I installed the alpharex luxx taillights along with the luxx headlights, both alpha black for my black "12 and I must say, it completely changed the look of my truck, I love em! , i use my turn signals way more now than before the install 😂I'll catch a few taco drivers checking out my lights too 😎🤘🏾

What is the difference between the alpha black and the normal black

@@richardlushenko3429 alpha black has all black housing, the regular black has some chrome on the housing, the alpha blacks turn signals are amber for the taillights and the regular black has red turn signals, personally, I love the amber turn signals because when u turn the taillights on, it'll do a light show starting with amber then slowly turns to red, looks awesome 👍🏾😎

I got the Meso's and I absolutely love them. What caught my eye is that they look OEM inspired. The Meso's are the only tail lights that look like they belong on a Tacoma

i'll go for the Alpharex because brightest output is not my deciding factor. I considered more the aesthetic + the lighting output is not too bad. I'm currently using the alpharex luxx black partnered with alpharex headlight alpha black.

@@searchingfor6thgear44 Get the meso's they are awesome and will retain the OEM shape while giving your tails the same LED quality look as your Pro headlights.

I’ve had the winjets for about a month or so now. They look great and perform pretty well. And took 10 min per side to install.

I actually think the two cheapest ones look the best overall. The Alpharex would be great and the function of them is awesome but I am not a fan of the smoked out lense because you can't appreciate what they look like during daylight hours, all you see is a black lense. If they were clear lense with black housing that'd be my choice

I have the Alpharex Luxx on my truck and believe me you can appreciate them in the daylight. It is nothing like having a completely blacked out lense, at all.

Automatically the AlphaRex LUXX for me because of the amber turn signal Maybe because I missed the rear amber turn signal Don't know why they removed it

I need to get taillights for my second gen not only bc they look amazing but also bc one of them is cracked😥

Meso customs looks really good but damn they are expensive so I’ll have to go with alpha Rex 👍🏼

I really like how thought out the function of the XTs. Just wish that the XTs reverse lights were as bright as the Meso Customs. Tough choice but the Meso Customs to have a Tundra affect to them, so my vote is for the Meso Customs! -The Spyders remind me of a GM truck taillight and the Alpha Rex are too... aftermarket looking for me.

I bought the spyder tail lights and the driver side blinker went out in 1 year and there is no replacement parts or warranty. They look awesome but I have seen others with the same problem. Pretty lame to have $400 blinker.

I have the meso/Morimoto. Bright as hell, way better than alpha rex. I see people all the time with alphas and they are always so dim. Can barely see the light when they brake

I recently picked up a set of the new version alpha rex in that same color. My one hang up is that if the turn signal is on, there is no brake light. So if my hazards are on the only brake light that shows is the one on the top of the cab. Thinking about asking alpha rex for a wiring diagram so I can change the 2 led squares myself to only be running & brake lights - no turn signal. Would make it so at night the running light stays on with the turn signal and day or night when I hit the turn signal and brake, the squares light up red for the brake while the difusers light up for the signal in amber.

Did you end up rewiring it? That looks the most appealing to me, if you did I’d go for the alpharex.

I was wondering about the startup sequence? I've a few that have gee whiz light actions at startup.

The sequenced we showed here are almost identical to the startup for them, some are a bit more convoluted than others 🤷‍♂️

It’s Hard To Pick On The Back Tail Lights.

I like those Alpha Rex…

The Alpharex's are cool and all but what I dislike the most about their taillights is that they're the same design for nearly every truck that they make taillights for, not to mention they don't have the vortex generators which is a detail I like but it's not a deal breaker. Honestly if they can make it unique to the Tacoma they can have my money cause I love the quality and startup sequence. It might not matter to most but that's just me personally. For now though I'll be going with the Meso/Morimoto's.

I like the winjets but myself like thousands of others had them blow the fuses in the truck and leave me stranded, never again. instant return

Depends on the tail light. Some are a bit too smoky to be DOT approved but it will say so on the product description

Do the reverse lights even help? Seems very dim. I have been on the hunt to match the front LEDs, and the AR is the best looking imo. I just do a ton of night driving, and towing.

Have you had any issues with what seems like low light output ?

I’ve noticed on 3rd gen Tacoma’s on the stock taillights some light up on the top “C” shape some on the bottom when braking. Is this something I’m fantasizing or ??

There’s a total tail light mod you can attach to your tail light housings from Meso Customs.

For me it’s the miso then the alpha Rex

I bought alpharex luxx for my tacoma trd pro and the bottom pin on both sides did not reach the grommet for mounting although with the bolts in them they felt secure, my problem is that they both have gap between the body and light housing and the driver side was almost a quarter inch and I felt like brush could get snagged and cause a problem off road. Did you have this problem? In the end I returned them and got the meso customs. I do think that the alpharex smoked lens looks awesome but didn't like the fitment

Did you mix up the Winjet and XT in your table? You said the XT drl was brightest besides oem, but according to the table the Winjet was the 2nd brightest.

I've been reading reviews on the winjet and people are saying they are blowing fuses and getting condensation in the housing. Can someone point me in the direction of safe replacements for my 2022 Tacoma?

There are other options besides winjet, the other tail lights on the list are from spyder, alpha rex, and meso which have given us no issues 🤷‍♂️

I have to say that alpha rex is the best option by far

We don’t see them often enough for it to be an issue, and most of them happen within the warranty period so you can easily get another set 🤷‍♂️

Bravo, great info packed video. My only ask was the brake light output. Don't want that knucklehead on the phone up my trailer ball.

Sucks that the alpha rex tail lights don’t have a clear lens option. If it did I would instantly purchase them. Hawaii is really strict with smoked lens’s well at least here on Lāna’i

Yes Sr! Just make sure to choose SR from the drop down option

Alpha rex seem a bit dimmed. I love those ultimate tail lights. Alpha rex look amazing and they contribute to that look you are going after, but the stop LED brightness is way too dimmed. Reverse can be fized quite easily, you are for sure going to put a nice steel bumper there and you can mount a nice set of flood ligts wired up to the reverse signal, maybe even a below tailgate LED strip if you are planning on leaving that tailgate naked (no spare tire mount, jerry cans, etc in the way). I only hate how dimmed the stop light looks on those alpha rex. A diferentiated smoke tint that left a clear spot for the stops and the reverse could have them helped out.

I have a very peculiar need for that insane ammount of output on a Tacoma I'm starting to build for my dad as soon as we have it delivered (vehicle shortage is even worse in México than in the US).
