It's my only one, seriously a 9mm carbine is pretty limited in use. I've had one failure after 1600 rounds, a steel case didn't eject properly. I cleaned the gun and it's been fine ever since. That was at 1100 rounds since cleaning... So clean it every five or six hundred rounds and it's fantastic.

@@upsanddowns8717 I really like the Sub 2000. My only gripe is that it has an awful trigger. Reliabilty, accuracy, and concealabilty are great though
your budget series have really sold me. its rare on here in the YT gun world to find a great balance of true strong foundation of knowledge, no frills but still personable, and paying attention to the interest of the gen population in AFFORDABLE firearms. thanks for the content! subscribed for good
Your videos are why I decided to purchase the FX-9. I got the 16" barrel variant, and put a simple red dot on it. Now I can use the exact same ammo that I use in my VP-9, and get the range and ballistics I'm looking for. Keep up the unbiased and outstandingly educational work you put into these videos. You haven't steered me wrong yet.
I picked up a Foxtrot Mike Ar-9 lower and a psa 8” upper back in the early months of 2019. Thing ran like a champ. Now I’ve upgraded it with quite a few things: YHM upper and handguard with a Ballistics Advantage 5.5” barrel, Geiselle trigger, Magpul furniture. Still one of my favorite pistols I’ve owned and upgraded.
You are my go-to for firearm advice. That is why I picked up a Canik Mete and I have been eyeballing a carbine. Much appreciated.

My wife's home defense gun is the CZ Scorpion EVO 3 S1 7.7" bbl with flash can, SB folding brace right out of the box. I swaped out the safety for the reverse safety and delete right side "she is right handed like me thankfully", HB trigger, Magpul grip, Magpul hand stop and Sig red dot. She is not big into guns but, absolutely loves her Scorpion and is deadly accurate 75 yards and in. Perfect home defense given her comfort with the Scorpion, maximum ballistics, closest neighbors are 100+ yards away.

Like many here, bought the Extar with cautious optimism based on many different reviews. I can honestly say it’s an awesome gun. My wife loves it… and if I’m gonna be totally honest, I actually like it slightly better than my scorpion. It’s just so light and soft shooting. Like mentioned in this video, I’d probably still go for the scorpion if things get real, but anything less than that (and maybe even that) Extar is the way to go.
Nice review, everything is fairly evaluated as usual. I couldn't tell if you evaluated the version2 Extar EP9 or had upgraded your v1. The new version reflects feedback provided from previous owners, upgraded metal trigger group, M-loc forend (old one was pic rail) and front directed compensator saving your ears from an even louder report. All good stuff.
Great review (as always)! I know it's not on the list due to price, but man... I LOVE my CMMG Banshee. Came with a 5" barrel, but I ordered a 7" foregrip and a tucked a linear comp into it. Looks bad ass, and is now far more usable with my larger than average meat hooks.
Foxtrot Mike (FM) 9 with the 7 inch barrel is quite impressive. At 30 yards and less, it is like driving tacks, and still great beyond 30. Simply amazing. Also, wonderful customer support when I had a minor issue.

Ever try federal 147 grain subs? With a can mine wouldn't feed them for s***. Contacted them, sent it back. They returned it to me in a very timely fashion however the issue remains. I asked what they did to fix it they said cleaned and lubed......works fine. Bottom line, there isn't a feed ramp so the flat nose subs hang up by 1-2 mm. Round nose ball fed fine, haven't tried any HP's through it because I'm fed up with the whole experience. The configuration is 7 inch fm-9 tri-lug rear charging handle Glock 33 round factory mags. Can was dead air ghost m with their tri-lug adapter.

I picked up a Ruger pc charger then slapped a sb tactical brace and holosun green dot on there all for just under 1k. It's heavy as hell but just fine for close in work.
Bought my brothers 2yo Extar EP9 set up with a bunch 33 round stick mags, foregrip and red dot a couple months back. Put a telescoping SB stock on it and now it's perfect. Its gotta be the least ammo sensitive thing I've ever used (fired every round of 30+ y.o. Saudi surplus ammo my dad had in a spare room). If another gun strikes and fails to fire I'll just toss the round in a mag for this thing and it'll fire without fail. It's also light, well made, and extremely reliable. Oh yeah super cheap also

The ep9 is now in gen2, which has mlock rails on the front end and a better trigger from the factory. I have plans to get one in the next week or so.
The EP9 was my first-ever gun -- bought on your recommendation. I was thrilled with it: lightweight, easy and total fun to shoot, deadly accurate (here I am a total newbie, and I shot so well at my first lesson, my instructor asked me if I had a CPL!). It functioned flawlessly... until I actually followed the recommendation on Extar's website and shot Tulammo (steel cased) through it. The trigger action became hard and clunky, and I started to have malfunctions. That led me to a video from MK Outdoor Journal about EP9 upgrades. I got the replacement trigger it recommended: Palmetto State Armory Enhanced Polished -- metal, not polymer. I also got a new metal ambidextrous safety control. In my first range session with the new trigger there was some improvement. But in the next session -- 200 rounds -- the clunkiness finally disappeared and I had no malfunctions at all -- back to normal, thanks! And, no more Tulammo for me, ever!

Question: when will you review the Gen 2 EP9?
I have Ruger Chassis PCC 16" barrel, it's heavy and the aluminum hand guard is sharp enough to shave skin off fingers. Doesn't cycle leaving a failure to eject with multiple times with each outing. Been using it with Ruger mags. The take down feature is nice due to 16" barrel. It's fun to shoot is the only saving grace. Many of the shorter barrel pcc options aren't available in MA 😐.
Still loving my Foxtrot Mike that you turned me onto years ago!
I have the cz Evo 3 s 2 that I absolutely love. Added a bunch of hb industries accessories and it’s untouchable (though during covid times I paid $1500). I also bought the extar ep9 on your recommendation and I agree with you it’s super reliable, recoil like a 22 and can’t beat the Glock mags and that sticker price. Nice vid!
I just got my extar today. Havnt had the chance to shoot it, but I see so many positive reviews for this gun, can't wait to upgrade it and put some rounds through it
I've got most of them except the Extar so I can't speak to that but my AK-V is hands down my favorite PCC. Suppresses well, haven't had a singe malfunction, 35 rd mags..Love it
I got my extar from a shop previously owned (estate sale) for about 350. I'd been looking at them before so that was a deal I couldn't pass up. The thing is ridiculously fun to shoot, super lightweight and will just keep spitting rounds out all day long. Because of this video I'm going to look at adding a fx9 to the collection but seriously if you're in the market for a PCC snag an Extar, best bang for fewest bucks.

what other pcc's do you have?
Everyone with a PCC is nerding out seeing their gun in this video. The FX9 is an amazing option that has never jammed or malfunctioned for me.
I agree I bought a scorpion a few years ago for $700 and have a decent amount of rounds through it. Probably 3k mostly suppressed with very little cleaning. It's been super reliable it rides in a bag in my truck everywhere I go getting thrown around.
I went with the PSA AR-V 7" PDW pistol. Loved the way it looked and has been fun to shoot.
I’ve been a pcc lover for years now, even before it was fashionable and I’ve taken a lot of crap from the “use a rifle for home defense, there is no use for a pcc” crowd throughout the years. However, these pistol chasis that turn your glock and sig pistols into a pdw are starting to get good. And I do mean really good. Recover Tactical and MCK have some really good offerings for a great price. Those would be ideal for the majority of Americans who only own 1 gun which statistics say that’s the majority of gun owners. I’ve had a gen 3 g19 for years that I really didn’t enjoy shooting anymore and then I bought a 20/20 tactical brace from Recover Tactical. I slapped a red dot and a light along with the extra mag pouch on it and I’ve fallin in love with that old gun all over again. The point is, if you can’t afford a new pcc, Look into putting a pistol you already own into A pdw chasis.

The recover tactical is crap, i had one a few years ago and had to get rid of it, it’s uncomfortable to shoot and doesn’t make any sense. The CAA MCK and Macaroni (Micro Roni) are a waste of money, your gun inside the chassis will get dirty and clogged up really fast.
Got the Ruger PC charger while waiting for the extar and I liked that as well. I know it’s like the carbine but fits the smaller PCC format and still have the detachable barrel.

...love the content. I love the EP9 as well. I'm getting the gen 2 even thought I only have probably 50 rounds thru the gen 1. Always cut my finger open until I moved my optic forward because of the side charging handle but that was a placement issue, of course not a gun issue. Love it.....
I'd add the Beretta CX-4. That was the original 9mm PCC I bought. Odd looking, and the sights leave something to be desired. However, it shoots and shoots and shoots and uses Beretta 92 series magazines (of which I have quite a few). I also have an Extar EP9, and it's set up as a home PDW. The Extar is excellent!

Love the Beretta CX-4. A little dated but the most accurate and reliable pcc I have shot. You're right about the sights: they are very good but too low and a pain to aquire, a red dot is almost mandatory. Also, the safety is stupidly stiff - I end up leaving it off at the range.
I’m sticking with the streebog .local shop sells for 650 with 3 mags, brace, hard case and second set of sights.

Bought my Extar ep9 because of you and not a single issue and super accurate!!!
Thanks for this. I would have thought the Ruger would be higher but now that I see what you chose above it, I would have the same list just swapping the Ruger and the Stribog.
CZ is my go to. I also picked up the new evo3 plus. Love it. Id also consider a few PSA offerings for top 5 over some of the ones that made the list... The AKV and ARV are exceptional guns and they take scorpion mags (best PCC mags on the planet). If you've never handled a scorpion magazine you should, especially if you've been running Glock mag PCC's. Not even close between those 2

I'd argue that MPX mags are better long term due to the metal feed lips. I've had three Scorpion mags fail on the feed lips, where they'd crack and just dump the entire mag on the ground. Not great. I know the newer ones use different materials, but it's still polymer feed lips.

That's why you trash the stock CZ mags and get either PSA or Magpuls. No feed lip issues on either. However the Magpuls don't play well with some mag releases.

Great Review! Loved it as always, one PCC we haven't seen you review is the Keltec Sub 2000 M-SERIES... I know Keltec is your thing. It would be cool to see you do a review of the base gun then get all the Mcarbo upgrades done to it.

Agree, The M-Series with the Mcarbo Operator package get you all the goodies. Not cheap but it would be an interesting comparison. I just bought one from Mcarbo as they are about five miles from where I live.

I can attest to the Extar ep9 . It’s the most inexpensive pcc on the market (excluding the Hipoints). They go on sale in 300 unit intervals. You want one you better get push notifications setup so as soon as they are available you’ll have all of twenty minutes to get your order in. Even in your cart it can be snatched away from you so act hastily. Upon arrival I found it to be aesthetically pleasing. The upper and lower are high strength polymers that explain why the price point is so low and affordable. It accepts Glock mags and loves fun sticks (33 round Glock) mags. They seat well and feed the ep9 like a growing baby on breast milk. I’ve put maybe a thousand rounds through it. Federal, Sig, Fiochii, Blazer, Patriot defense, Freedom munitions. All brass. No failures. The Stribog is much better built but has a strangely high bore axis. There’s a lot of real estate from the trigger to the top rail but functions very well. Same ammo as the ep9 and zero fails. Freedom ordnance FX9 was my first pcc 9 mm and they ran at $469 new some eight years ago. Now they are in the $700’s I believe but not worth the inflated pricing. It ran well but hated steel and aluminum cased rounds. Stove piping every other round with Aguila and remanned CCI I loaded myself. The brand new CZ scorpion with the new grip is amazing. That angled grip on the 3 and 2 was awkward imo and I often asked why they didn’t make a more vertical grip. CZ did it and it made greatness even better. This gun I could take into CQ battle without hesitation. Very, very fantastic and fun pcc. Run subsonics and a good can and you’ll find no need for ears. I’ve tested it in a basement audible running at 78-83 dcb spite others claiming 110 dcB outdoors. You can’t go wrong on a good pcc for home defense. It instills a lot of control and confidence to the user.
Great, useful video for those looking for a PCC and/or truck gun. Also, seeing Mrs. Outlaw in her furry Elmer Fudd hat...precious....

I own the original pc5 nine from Ruger and the new PC9 takedown rifle and I love this first pn9 from Ruger
The Beretta Cx4 Storm is also a good PCC especially for us left-handed shooters. It's ambi everything.

I thought it was Def slick when it came out. Only really great if you have an m9 though
The FX9 i like the concept of. The guys that designed it wanted to build a very usable gun for an affordable price. Made out of billet aluminum it's a decent gun.

I love PCC's, that includes the Hi-Point at its great price point. The CZ Scorpion is my favorite as well but I also really enjoy the Ruger PCC. Stay safe brother.
Thank you for adding the Ruger PC Carbine for us former Californians that bought one while they were in the gulag known as California. I actually really do like my PC Carbine.
HB Industries has all the fixes you need for the Scorp. Love mine! Go2A!
I absolutely love my Extar EP9.🎉 One common malfunction that I hear with them that I seem to be experiencing is that it keeps eating my mags and destroying the Feed Lip

There's a company, I don't remember the name, but you can easily research it, they have a plastic replacement to fix that issue. The metal is eating awat the plastic. Easy switch out. I saw their video on KZread a few months back. If I can find it again, I'll send the link.

I like my scorpion, the scorpion PMAGS do not work in it, but the steel lipped PSA mags do. I recommend those.
I chose the Foxtrot Mike FM-9 and the Ruger PC Carbine chassis model. Very happy with both.
