Rick Harrison Actually Kimi's move was better because it was a lot more calculated. Kimi could never overtake him on the straight because Michael had the power advantage despite the DRS. The only way he could overtake him was that he saved all of his KERS and used it before Eau Rouge in a way that he didn't overtake him before the DRS line. Then Kimi would get the DRS advantage on the following straight and keep Michael behind him.

DRS transforms F1 into a show like wrestling, this isn't sport, it's just an unfair advantage for the driver that wants to overtake. They should change the technical rules so that the cars generate more mechanical grip or generate grip over things like ground effect and reduce the aerodynamics, then there won't be any need for DRS. Watched every race since the early 90s but today F1 has really lost my interest. Get back to the roots and fans like me will come back, if they don't change F1 soon the fans F1 has lost will be lost forever.

Alonso the most entertaining driver with awesome skills.

Watching guys like Alonso and Vettel do battle is awesome! I remember that race. They showed 1 overtake but if I'm not mistaken they battled back and forth for a few laps. Now this Verstappen kid on the other hand... Sure he's a talented driver but he has it in his mind that nobody can overtake him and he defends on the straights very dangerously. He makes his moves to block too late. It's going to cause a huge high speed accident.

ScutumDrawing Massa did nothing special for Alonso. He just did a horrible last corner before going up the hill. So he had to go defensive vs webber, as any driver would do. Meanwhile Alonso had saved his kers to use it going up the hill, and when Massa defended position, he took the slipstream to go 3 wide on the inside carrying momentum and braking in the right moment to finish the double overtake. No teamplay, just a bad run from Massa who had to go defensive, and Alonso went for it

Ricciardo passing Vettel in turn 3 at Monza last year would have been in my top 5.

I think the biggest factor in his death was how the Group C cars were designed... weren't their feet ahead of the front tires?? like literally in the nose of the car? I saw the video where they are hauling away his car and it just looks like there was no room to survive in the cockpit.. very talented driver.

How can the overtake from Vettel on Alonso be even better than the overtake from Alonso on Vettel in the same race? The BBC and SkySports said that it was the move of the race... Vettel only had to keep going straight, and finally he could achieved the overtake because he had the inside part of the corner... Alonso had 2 big balls, not Vettel. He knew how to get more traction opening the trajectory of the car in the last corner, and finally he did the overtake in the outside part of Kopse... Also the Vettel´s car was 1,1 seconds faster in that race (see the fast lap in the race from RB (Vettel): 1’37.481 and the fast lap in the race from Ferrari (Alonso):1’38.587, 1,1 seconds of difference...)

Vettel got the inside because at the enter of the corner Alonso understeered and he couldn't turn as well as Vettel did, and finally with those tyres with 11 more laps than Sebastian's, Alonso's car oversteered while losing traction, and thats why Vettel got the inside... Anyway, any F1 driver is able to do that maniouver, Alonso did that in the same corner and in the same race many times (when he overtook Kvyat for example).

There's something you should consider, though: nowadays cars have a lot more grip. In this case here, they had to break a lot more before taking the corner. Vettel chose to brake late, making it impossible for Alonso to defend his position like Max did

Dan S. Schumi did kinda lift before turn-in so in way conceded that corner earlier than Alonso. And I guess Webber and Alonso was more wheel to wheel for a longer duration. IMO, they are nearly identical but for some reason I liked the Webber one more.

Reminds me of the amazing 2012 season we had. Must have been the best season ever been. We had thrilling Championship battles till the last race, we had multiple wheel to wheel action, big crashes 7 different world champions and most of the season no dominant car/team... Today is a joke compared to 2012^^

Number 3: I renember perferly the race and it took Vettel 14 (more or less) to overtake Fernando having a two seconds faster car. In the same race and some laps before, and same turn Alonso overtake Vettel doing the outside trayectory

You can be two seconds a lap faster all race long, but if you aren’t much quicker where it matters, I.e the straights, it’s going to be tough to get passed.

Massa's overtake always made me think of a video game overtake, Even modern F1 can gives us great moments like this.

Where is the double overtake by Schumacher under the rain in Canada ?

It's funny how often you hear a driver lift through Eau Rouge & Raidillon, specifically around halfway up Raidillon. It has to be comforting to some other, lower profile racer, hearing Kimi lift or _anybody_ else lifting.

Räikkönen passing Schumaher is just amazing. No wonder he's the most liked driver in F1.

I reckon one of the best overtakes of the last 5 years was Sergio Perez on Kimi Raikkonen at Monza in 2012. Sergio went down the outside of Kimi into the second chicane, both drivers managed to just squeeze through with Perez ending out ahead. It was an awesome overtake but I've never seen a mention of it in anyone's list of best overtakes which really surprises me.

I did an overtake just like Alonso in the beginning on Interlagos in a GT Sport FIA race. It felt so good because it was perfect timing.

I know Hamilton is not everyone's cup of tea but the man pulls out some great moves. The move on Rosberg at Suzuka was fantastic.

+Noob Du Carai Well you actually do have to when there's a driver beside you. That race in silverstone was bullshit on Vettel's behalf. Alonso is far better than Vettel. I respect them both as 2 of the best on the grid but Alonso>Vettel.

how was number 3 one of the top overtakes from the last 5 years?

Overtake 2 was by far the best and most bravest toughest small spaced overtake I've ever seen.

There was also Vettel's epic pass on Alonso outside at Curva Grande in Monza 2011. That was Vettel's ballsiest carreer move.

Alonso in Brazil was a gift from Massa!
