What is the easiest reptile pet you can own? There are so many great options. You might want a low maintenance pet because you are a busy person looking for a companion and want to spend your time hanging out and playing with your pet rather than servicing and maintaining your snake or lizard or even turtle. The most shocking entry on the easy to care for reptile list might be the box turtle. Usually turtles take a lot of work and time to care for but a terrestrial turtle like a box turtle can make really simple pets that do not take much time at all. Another Great option is a western hognose snake, or plains hognose snake. These shovel face, keeled scale, tiny snakes make amazing pets. The care is super simple and the small size makes these colubrids, although technically a venomous snake, a really easy and harmless snake to take care of. Chinese cave geckos likely are talked about too much on Wickens Wicked Reptiles but hey, they make great little gecko pets. Caring for these small terrestrial geckos is really simply and they are such cute little animals! Sure Leopard Geckos and African Fat Tailed geckos would work too. White's tree frogs are amphibians but perhaps the easiest frog to care for is a Dumpy Tree frog! An easy pet list is not complete without the king of simply lizard care, Crested Geckos. Sure Gargoyle Geckos or Chahoua Geckos would work but Cresties really are the easiest reptile to care for!

They can be in bioactives! My boy was the worst eater until he got moved to his bioactive setup. I use Carex and Festuca grass, mealworms, Spanish isopods and a couple of morio worms for clean up. Water the grasses directly every 1-2 weeks. Mist under a couple of cork/rock/log pieces for the isopods and water the setup a little extra when the snake is in shed and you're good to go.

I’m always surprised when uromastyx don’t make these lists. They need larger enclosures (box turtles need more space) and require high temperatures, but their care is so easy. They don’t need a water dish, they don’t need to be misted, their waste doesn’t smell at all and dries up incredibly fast, and you can buy their food when you shop for yourself, eliminating an extra shopping trip.

I ADORE whites tree frogs. I finally got two gorgeous babies this year. They are so cute and goofy. They love their little pool and hunting lobster roaches. One is a more blue with snowflakes, and the other is a blue eyed, so more lavender blue body. My little blue eyed boy recently started croaking. It's adorable and hilarious. Bok bok bork! Just short little bursts. But a lot of noises will set them off.

Good upload Alan. I personally prefer chahoua to cresties. They pretty much have the same requirements as cresties and can be kept the same way and if chahoua lose theyr tail it grows back! I know they cost a fortune in North America but here in the Uk theyr much cheaper. I got 2 juvenile chahoua for £150 which is about £200 and one of them is almost completely jet black which i have never seen in chahoua before.

i freaking love this guy. he talks as if we were his real friends and the way he cares about his reptiles is so cute. should maybe just get that flicking light check out 😂
I have a little gargoyle gecko now and he is just awesome. Used to have mourning geckos but since they died I had the urge to go bigger because the one big downside to them was how small they were. So when I went to a convention I gave in to my 3 year urge to get a garg soon as I saw my little dude's face pop up out of his little plastic tub. He stood out over all the other cresties and gargs on the table and I just couldn't leave him. I needed one with a good personality and strong character to be able to cope with the 8 hour journey home in a stuffed to near bursting gym bag and I sure picked one that has both. Added bonus is that he's also gorgeous. Vibrant orange stripes on cream white with big lavender eyes. I went to that con hoping to pick up a future mate for my childrens python but there's no way I'm not getting this guy a companion either. Cons are also so much cheaper than reptile shops and buying online. Especially if you're there near closing time and the breeders want to shift some of their last few animals. There was no shortage of baby hogs and a lot of them were going for $50 or less. So if you want a hog for a good price, as long as you don't mind them being really little and needing a little bit more care, go to a con.
Box turtles are my dream tortoise! I would love a care guide!
