Ok, you need a 4x4 or Large SUV and the budget is 10 grand, there are loads of options out there but these next 5 are simply better than the rest.
Now at this budget the important factors really should be reliability, safety, running and maintenance costs, and practicality
But just because the budget is $10,000, it doesn’t have to be some boring sensible box on wheels either, so we’ve also tried to take into account that these things should actually be fun to drive and dare I say it, even a bit cool.

At ReDriven, we’ll be taking you through the pros and cons of a huge range of used cars to see how well they’re going now that they’re a few years old, have thousands of kilometres on the clock, and are coming toward the end of their warranty, or maybe don’t have one at all.
Plus, thanks to our resident mechanic, Jim, you’ll find out what commonly goes wrong with them and what might need to be fixed.
Most importantly, we want to make ReDriven a voice for the most in-the-know used car experts there are...you guys.. See, you’re the ones that actually buy, live with, love and sometimes unfortunately hate the cars we’ll be reviewing.
So we want to hear your thoughts. Hit us up in the comments, or on Instagram and Facebook.
We’d love nothing more than for you to give us as much feedback as possible, so we can make this channel the best it can be.

I had a ZH Outlander with the 2.4. Great car. Lots of room, good performer and one of the most reliable cars that I have ever owned. Over the 180,000+ks of ownership, the only thing that broke was a rear parking sensor. Agreed that it wasn't the most quiet car in the interior, but still very comfortable. I did a big Queensland trip that involved hundreds of Ks on dirt roads and it seemed to drive better on dirt at 110kph than it did bitumen. The person that I sold the Outlander to, has nearly 300,000ks on the clock, still going strong with no mechanical issues.
Gen 4 (outback gen3) subaru is and will always be peak liberty/outback. What a bloody car!!!

Agreed, love the gen 4 Liberty's!
Im in Scotland and have a 2009 ZG Outlander 2.0 Di-D 4x4. I bought it in 2012 with 18k miles (29k km} and it now has 150k miles (240k km) on it and aside from some rust starting to creep into the rear subframe and rear wheel arches, it's absolutely spot on, the paint and chrome is still shiny, the interior has held up well, and drives way better than you'd expect. As far as reliability goes, I replaced the radiator last month (£90), the turbo last year (£700 fitted) as the VNT was starting to act up, and the rear silencer in 2021 (£350 fitted). Other than that its only ever needed servicing and consumables (tyres, discs and pads) in 11 years.
Love our family NP Pajero 3.2d. Done just over 380k with all the bells and whistles and doesn't miss a beat.
THANKS for another great video! My Mitsubishis have outlasted my neighbors' and co-workers' Toyotas, Hondas and Subarus here in the States. GO MITSUBISHI!!!
Suddenly feeling even better about buying my 07 Outback two years ago. Unfortunately it didn't have the best service history so it needed a bit of work and does consume a little oil, but I still say it's worth it since it was the only manual one I could find.

I have a ZG Outlander with 305,000 KM on it and its still going strong. I never intended on keeping it this long, but it wont die. A few year back the CVT shat itself, but that was because i neglected to service it. I put a new gearbox in it, and the car keeps on kickin. The best feature is the split folding tail gate, makes it super useful to carry almost anything with ease.
I have a 2003 Pajero Exceed, with 201xxx kms. I’m located down in Melbourne but I’m heading up to Sydney to see the relos and am happy to drop it to you guys
I have a ZK Outlander and it is the best car I’ve ever owned, way better than my Cruze.
For my choice 😉 I will be the No no sense Mitsubishi Pajero 2005 3.0 Lt... I love that engine. Because it's the commonly used in Uganda Kampala for all 3 Gen Pajero
I had a ZH Mitsubishi outlander VR v6 for a number of years a while back and its a great unit. Smart AWD system, conventional 6 spd auto, looks great, comfy, split tailgate is great BUT was thirsty around town and the v6 lacks low down torque so using the flappy paddle gear change to keep the engine on the boil was needed and could be fun at times. Don't overlook them though

great one! need a kodiaq review too !
Glad you mentioned the outback. We’ve always had outback’s for the school run and light work over the farm). So our Milage being hot running or rural and we’ve owned these since 1999 (bug eyed model manual low range) up to 2014 which we ditched and went back to 2005 3.0l…and to be honest fuel was the same for both engines, but the 6 is bullet proof. Have a 2020 Touareg and 2019 Passat wagon…but to be honest it’s always the outback’s keys we head for 99% of the time. Current one has 324,000km on it and if anything fails it will be fixed…perfect in all areas no, brilliant in many yes
Owned a 3.8v6 NP Pajero. I was lucky to get less than 20l/100km's out of that thing!
the Lexus at 5:26 I've noticed it look's a bit like a Pontiac Aztec on the very back side window
Special cars under 10k: Saab 900 (Swedish swag) Morris minor (special doesn’t mean good) Alfa giulietta (every petrolhead must drive a Alfa once - considering it’s all fiat underneath it should be serviceable-ish)
For next week’s list, I reckon the MR2, Integra, Lexus LS, Benz W123, non turbo Skylines and Supra.
I’ve just driven a V6 outlander from Adelaide to Wollongong return. Beautiful to drive but the best I got on the freeway was high 8’s. Round down up around the 12’s.

yayyy new redriven vids!!! I have a 03 kluger which is hail damaged and drinks oil. great lovely car to drive and that smoith v6 engine. However now that they're showing their age, lots of people have reported of window motors failing, and some oxygen sensors failing too, and if not cared for, can drink oil. great car nontheless. I would love a lexus rx! pros: Lots of features for price, basically a toyota so reliability is great, lots of practicality and more premium. cons: the timing shain issue as you've mentioned, heard some reports of the driver and passenger seat armests falling, And this is on lots of older Lexus models, cracking dashboards, which is why many people put a cover over it. Great car again if u can find a good condition example. luv the work guys kp it up✌✌✌✌✌✌👍👍👍👍👍👍😎😎😎😎😎😎
The 2 best special cars I've owned are a 1998 audi A8 with the 4.2 v8 and quattro and a 2002 wrx. Both amazing cars for the money
Can't wait to see an outback video. Currently looking into a 5th gen but very sceptical of the CVT

Owned a 2018 2.5 cvt outback for 12 painful months and got rid of it 3 months ago. Gutless 4 cyl cvt combo, average build quality, soo much wind noise from the driver's door mirror you'd swear the window was open a fraction, too many intrusive nanny features, the beeps from these features are annoying, even my non car wife hated it. Our old 2005 outback was a way better quality unit.
You might be waiting a while for an NM/NP Evolution model, because the Pajero Evolution was actually the good old 2nd Gen NL 💪 Though it did use a couple of mechanical upgrades that went on to be fitted to the NM like the 5 speed Jatco box and multi-link IRS rear end design
I do like the 3 door Pajero, easier to avoid obstacles in the bush and do a tight U turn when needed, difficult in a 1993 LSE Range Rover.
Finally found a ZH Outlander VRX 2012, lovely car.
I’ve got the 2013 Outlander in 2.3L turbo diesel. It’s a 6spd auto, and so far it’s been an absolute gem. Great power, and crazy economical. Anyone else have luck with the turbo outlanders too?
Do a review on Sand Pacer Beach Buggies. Please please please. I owned one in the 80s and they are so much fun. I believe there are millions in NSW.
Diesel pajero g3 have expensive diesel pump issues. Had a good look lexus 330/50. Very good value for the money.
I have a ns pajero and latest paj sports deluxe. I have no idea why people spend more on prado. No idea at all. But it's your $, go for it,

I'm always here for debates on whether the Outback is a wagon or a SUV. I think the answer to that is "yes".

It's a Wagon all day long. To say it is an SUV, well either you are in denial or frankly don't know what makes an SUV an SUV.

@@Basman59 Not sure how this works when an 'SUV' is so loosly defined. That's the whole point . In any case I'd rather call it a wagon still
@rexthesheep
Жыл бұрын
@@jimmyp1433 Yeah, I'm in a similar camp to you. The first few generations of Outback are definitely 100% lifted wagons in my book. (Hell, I even take issue with the 1st/2nd gen Forester being called a SUV.) But I think with the newer Outbacks I'm a little more okay with the SUV designation, loosely defined as "SUV" may be.
I just purchased a BMW 130I 2007 for 10k. I'd say that is pretty special ( or any 1 series with a straight 6). I was mostly looking at VW Golf's Mark V for that price, but found they were all pretty rough in that range.

What happened to the ix35 hyundai 2010 onwards?
Surprised you were able to create this video with the extreme car prices on 2nd hand cars these days! Any idea when these prices will drop?
Good reviews - agree with the Paj, but buy a diesel one, they’re more expensive for maintenance, but better everywhere else. On the Outlander - buying a CVT is like marrying a stripper - might seem like a good idea, but sooner of later she’s going to leave you broke.
Yeah the old outlander isn't to bad my sister has a 2009 4wd v6 vrx great car spec wise but the road noise is insane on it total lack of refinement the cvt Is alright fuel economy is abit average but nothing to high 12l/100km around town keep in mind this is compared to my volvo xc60 t6 but honestly the mithubishi outlander for under 10k are a great unit that are much cheaper to run then a comparable euro suv.
If you were in WA you would be welcome to review my 2006 NP Diesel Pajero :)
With the prados. Avoid any that had an LPG conversion... The majority are a shit conversion, and I have seen many having fuel and intake issues.
I had a Lexus rx330 with 250000km+ and sold it, the next owner still has it and it’s still going strong. She hasn’t serviced it in 4 years and it’s still going, hasn’t even changed the oil 🤦♂️
Thought the KIA Sorento or Nissan Patrol might of been on the list but I can understand why they might not have been included. For next week's list a few potential candidates that I think would fit the bill are; Alfa Romeo 159/166 4th or 5th gen BMW 3 series 1st gen T7 Peugeot 308 Jaguar X-type 3rd gen W211 Mercedes E class 1st or 2nd gen Lexus IS200/250 4th gen Lexus ES300 Good work as always guys and look forward to Friday's video as always 👍.
Sorry, but the Lexus RX350 wins all day although its truly a mid-size. However, the Lexus 470 is the 'Large SUV'. Also, another issue, unfortunately cos we live in Oz we don't have the Honda Passport - a damned shame, cos I'd stake a claim for that on this list.
What's the opinion of Mazda CX7 ? I'm hooked on it but heard it may have transmission issues!? I like the extra space at rear to sleep comfortably & it's cabin is snazzy plus a sun roof & I see them for $7000 🤔🤔
