Top 5 Freediving Tips and Techniques to improve your diving
The best freediving tips and techniques are usually very simple. What are some freediving tips? what are the best freediving techniques? There are questions that I get asked all the time and so i figured it would be easiest to make a video about it. So here are my top 5 freediving tips and techniques.
by applying these techniques you will be able to hold your breath longer. You will be able to relax more while freediving so you can enjoy your dives more. These techniques will also allow you to improve and become a better freediver.
The video touches on the significance of relaxation in freediving. How move and swim more efficiently. The best ways to approach your freediving in the short and long term and as always we talk about equalisation.
I hope you enjoy the video and if you have any questions just put them down below in the comments!

You’re awesome Adam! A seriously positive dude. Love the way you do you!
I’m going Freediving August 1 off Rhode Island and am so excited!! Thank you for helping with technique!
Thank you for the tips! Freedivings a hobby I've wanted to pursue forever.
This helped me out a LOT, I can’t wait to try these tips. I recently went to St. Croix to visit my sister and we went freediving, and I’ve also been to a few local springs, but I’ve never been able to go further than like 20 feet. I didn’t know it was possible to become negatively buoyant, so I’m glad to hear it’s something I can work on (I’m very new to it so I don’t know much of anything). I can hold my breath for a minute and a half above water, but underwater it’s literally like 10-15 seconds. Glad to know it’s mostly because of simple mistakes I’m making that I can work on! Thanks!
Thank you Adam, being a yoga teacher I've always been fascinated by free diving, so I'll be investigating your videos more. Thanks for sharing your insight with us.
Going for my first dive today, so excited! One of my workmates is showing me a local spot. I'll definitely be heading across to your equalising video!
Your tutorial videos are the best , keep them coming mate🤗
Thank you very much. Personally, I do not worry whether some one has a lisp or stutters. I enjoy the videos.

Thanks Adam, I used to freak out when I go in & get confused & get that "urge" of breathing ,after I watched one of ur vids & started to relax it helped very much till a small fish started swimming with me everywhere in the island of Zanzibar.

Thank you for all your videos, im just about to start freediving and your videos really helps out a lot. keep it up : )
Great advice! Thank you!
The relaxing before the dive is so key. I used to get so anxious practicing my deep dives at the pool because I would just close my eyes and relax my body for several minutes in order to have a long breath-hold and thought ppl didn't understand. #1=Relax!!! and take it slow, enjoy :)
Love your accent and energy Adam. Great videos. Keep up the great work!

Sammy the slimy snake swallowed seven slippery sausages for supper on Sunday. I'm enjoying watching your videos. Haven't really noticed the lisp until you pointed it out... darn it, now I guess I'm not going to be able to watch any more without thinking about it. You and your wife both seem like you have a true love for life, and you are both very enjoyable to watch. Your enthusiasm is infectious. I've been exploring free diving for a few years now, but your videos have really gotten me excited. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I haven't been able to find instructors here in the Houston, Texas area, but just found someone from Oklahoma who teaches in San Marcos (near San Antonio.) Not much interest in competition, but I do want to learn how to improve my bottom time. Here's crossing my fingers.
I literally can't even swim yet, but for some reason really want to free dive!
The 4th tip is a must!
finally a video that really helps ... thanks

Beautiful !!!
Thank you Adam!! That streamlined position tip is the most down to earth I had so far. It makes so much sense cause while diving recreationaly there is a good chance you will not have a rope around to use as reference. Keep it up!
@AdamFreediver
7 жыл бұрын
Edrisse Mussá absolutely. Except when I'm diving deep I never dive with a rope. I don't know why freedivers get so hung up on trying to make everyone tuck their chins in all the way down. The reason I'm diving is to look around! 😜
@FreediveRN
7 жыл бұрын
Adam Freediver maybe because the risk of a trachea squeeze? I have a friend that had big problems with it and just couldn't dive deeper than 30meters because of it.
@AdamFreediver
7 жыл бұрын
Edrisse Mussá absolutely but in the context of recreational diving it makes little sense. When training and progressing depth the chin needs to be tucked in the entire time but when playing around it's usually just a limitation
I enjoyed your video... you have a great sense of humor. Keep doing what you're doing.

Adam - I think you should make a video talking about the relaxation vs comfort. I am a freediver from Azores Islands (Atlantic Ocean) and the correlation of the level of comfort on the open waters you are diving makes a huge different in your breath hold time. Every time I am freediving in Azores open waters my level of comfort it's high that somehow it's correlated with the time you are able to hold your breath. If I am diving in Portugal main land waters I don't feel the pleasure, because of the type of water, maybe the color or the temperature and my performance is not so high as in Azores. I feel more pleasure in the blue, that Azorean deep blue makes me more relax and comfortable. And this aspect it's so important for your mind. Cheers
Sammy the Snake ate slippery sausages for supper on Sunday. I hate when people call mine out too (barely even have one). You still sound cool. I'm loving your videos, these are all SUPER helpful!! I'm submerged pretty deep now in the world of scuba, but here in Arizona I don't get much exposure to freediving and it's interesting the hell out of me! Thanks a ton!

Hello Adam~ greetings from Malaysia, I just started scuba diving few months ago and I love the sea! Then i just discovered that is another way of diving that is freediving , it sounds scary to me at first because I thought it will be quite difficult to hold breath for a couple minute and dive. But after seeing your videos, I think it is not that difficult after all and I want to take a course soon. Thanks for all the videos and keep it up! =)
