Preach on brother! Been saying “ match your vehicle purchase to the intended use” for years. Unfortunately, people want something with status or machismo rather than need.

I went to Europe last year and saw 1.2 opel corsa pulling more than our tracks ever pull. It was so funny to see

The older VWs and Volvos are immortal. Personally EVERYTHING 2017 and newer is something you wanna avoid

I bought a 2003 Pontiac Vibe a little over 2 years ago for $1,400 cash from a private owner. It currently has 164k miles on it and I've replace the battery, starter, intake gasket, and a tire I popped on a pothole. Did all the work myself. It gets 28 miles a gallon. It's been the best vehicle I've owned.

@@raymond_sycamore we bought a 2011 ScionXB years ago for the same reason. We bought it with 80K and now has 240K. Other than normal wear items, only replaced the alternator (bad bearing), and AC compressor flow solenoid valve.

The only euro cars I have positive things to say about are the old ones. I have a 1989 and a 1992 Volvo 240, my 92 has 330k miles, and still runs okay. Still they did strange things, but they are pretty easy to work on, parts are cheap, and they are simple; which is something you can't say for any modern euro cars.

I see these guys with trucks that are easily more than 3 feet off the ground and I always think how is anyone supposed to use that for truck stuff. To tow a trailer you would need like a 20 inch drop hitch. It's also just outright dangerous especially in suburban areas. It's also almost like the more rustier and beat up the truck is the more its used like how a truck is meant to be used at least around here.

I love Volkswagens, especially the Beetle, Jetta, and Passat, mainly for their stylish looks, as well as absolutely awesome rock solid build quality (read: not reliability) and because of how fun they are to drive. BUT I'll also be the first to say that you're buying a Volkswagen for the driving experience and fun, not for the cheap repairs. You don't get that with a VW, especially a newer one, it's just not a thing. So many people don't get that.

Just buy a 1990s Toyota Corolla, Camry, or Tercel. You can buy them with pocket change, and will never have to do anything to them.

Main problem with cars is for the price they arent built to last. We need to dial it back a bit, yea sure we can have the nice ones we have now but we need more basic base models from the big domestic companies. Comine old tech with new tech to make a basic reliable vehicle thats easy to work on. Fk going electric and all that, in reality the best thing to do for the environment also happens to be the best thing for your wallet and thats why i say my 34 year old ford truck is more environmentally friendly than a tesla because it will still be driving around when the dinosaurs re evolve and they use us as fuel. Not going to say 1990 tech is perfect but i think there are a lot of things we can go back and take into account.

OKAY, diesels are expensive but, coming from a guy who has pulled with a gas truck and a diesel. There is no comparing the two, which is why I suspect you have yet to put a gas vs diesels video out yet...... If it sounds like a challenge well then you would be correct. I have a 2012 crew cab 8' bed 4wd F250 with a 6.7 diesel that has been modified. I know, that dreaded word that makes you cringe. All you have to do is find a truck that you can find worthy of competing against my truck with. Maybe someone will see this comment and actually let you borrow a truck that might measure up, we shall see......
