My favorite is the sog. The us airforce survival knife isnt very good knife. I have one and they just seem to be cheap. It deffently wouldnt be my go to. I have the sog 2. 0. And the super bowie both are great knives but then again they wasnt cheap.

Agreed!! In 1965 I purchased a Randall Model 14 while on my way to Vietnam - I paid $25 for it, and waited (maybe?) two weeks for delivery from Orlando, FL to Okinawa. In 2003 my older son carried that knife during his service in the Iraqi War.

i never owned a bo randall , but i still have my gerber mk 2' since 1980' and quite a few other top of the line combat blades and my edc is my emerson cqc-7' and im a happy camper because most of my blades are way over 20'plus years old and well seasoned well worked and still look great

My favorite would be the buck 119, 120, 122 and 124. In the era they were made by hand to a very high standard. They were popular for private purchase and some units issued them.

Great video, the Randall Model 1 is the All Purpose Fighting Knife (perhaps the best fighting knife ever made), and although it has a top cutting edge, it is not a dagger. The Model 2 is the Fighting Stiletto, the famous dagger that along with the Model 1 were produced since WWII. These two first military models can be found with 6, 7 or 8 inches blades. The Model 14 Attack (7 1/2" blade) and 15 Airman (5 1/5" blade) were introduced in 1954 and the Model 18 Attack- Survival in the 60's.

My mistake - I realized I called it a dagger right after I uploaded the video lmao! Thanks for the info! I plan on doing more research and making a better video discussing Randall knives in the future. Appreciate you watching and sharing the insight!

Commenting to appease the algorithms. Back in the mid 1970’s, I had a 1970’s Gerber Mark II, and a Camillus Pilot knife Dated 1969. Had no idea what they would be worth today, or I might have kept them.

i have a 5th special forces sog knife dak fakuta maker....forgive my spelling......i know a marine who fought in iraq that has the extremely rare sog sf plum knife.....he was given that knife by a bad bad recon marine who fought in vietnam 3 tours......the recon marine told the guy....this knife saved my life in vietnam it will save yours in iraq......carry on.

Carried a Randall mod.14 serving with 10thSFGA in Beirut 83/84. That knife got a lot of attention from the Lebanese. That's when I decided it would be part of my escape barter if needed.

Those Randall knives have sent a lot of opps on to a six foot dirt nap, it a Heart Stopper Supreme.

Could he have meant Puma? Very popular west german made knives back then!

I was just looking for a good military grade (preferablyy USMC) grade knife. That"s all!

I think, for the money, a USMC Ka-bar is tough to beat. It will do about anything you can need a knife for.

KA-BAR was right on the edge of being on the list! I was debating on putting it at the #5 but went with the pilot knife instead. If I do a “top 5 fighting knives of the 20th century” it would certainly be included. Thanks for watching!
