@@albuquerquesbest I might take Rio Rancho's Best... Include Bernalillo. Showing my face? Nah. I'm only 14! Been across the state, yep! Might as well be New Mexico's Best at this point.

El paisa and tap n taco

Point of order - the "red chile sauce" that comes with birria tacos isn't a sauce -- it's the consommé that the meat was cooked in. Yes, it has chiles in it, but it's not a chile sauce. More like stew broth. And yes, it's every bit as delicious as it looks. Note: if you want a red chile sauce for dipping, Fuego 505 has "barrio" tacos that are served with a true red chile sauce if that's your thing.

My new go-to taco joint is Tacos El Muchacho Alegre. Located on Eubank close to Annie's Soup Kitchen. Incredible Carne Asada tacos. 4 for $10

You have to try Burnt Fideo reopening soon, La Guelaguetza, Forasteros on coors, Theos taco truck, Fusion Tacos with Ramen.

We all saw it while there doing the review and I think since it is so unique that we will do a straight up feature of what they make as we would not have others like it to compare to. Thanks for the feedback and reminder to do that.

La Guelaguetza is good and their mole is made from scratch, the best in New Mexico. Lobo Taco is also great, they do have great tacos.

I was at Glass on Wheels (500 Old Coors SW) getting some window glass replaced and told them about La Guelaguetza which is right down the street. They did not know it existed and had never been there. The restaurant is great but it needs better signage and an A-frame sign out front to let people know they are there. I have lived here just north of Old Coors and Central area for 56 years and never knew it existed either. Thanks for your comments!

I had to look it up ......... it is a food truck on Broadway and their taco photos look great and they have great reviews on Facebook. When we do our taco food truck review, I will be sure to include them. Thanks for the info Victor Miranda!

Tacos la Mordida on Juan Tabo and Prospect should definitely be on this list.

No decent and authentic Mexican food restaurant serves you a taco in a pre-formed taco shell that looks like it came right out of the Ortega box.

Padilla’s….for anything.

Find a family owned Mexican food restaurant where the local people go to eat. Not any place that has a corporate headquarters.

These people probably love the Taco Bell tacos the best ?

We pick the highest starred restaurants to start out so ya the likely hood of it not getting a good review is rare.

Try La Serenita, one of the best I've had in ABQ, was a food truck, now has a restaurant in the old Quarters BBQ on yale and cesar chavez

Vamos Con Gloria is legit! Used to be a food truck on Broadway and they have a walk-in pickup place on Lomas downtown. Their hours are not great they (Mon-Fri 4:30-8:30). would do so much better opening a little earlier and at least one weekend day especially being downtown. El Paisa used to be the best and they've gone downhill. Super greasy and taco shells fall appart last couple times i went. Cheers!

Paul, El Paisa was on our list but there were so many that we cut off at a 4.5 rating on Google and they have a 4.4. My best friend growing up lived on Bridge at 5 Points, house was bulldozed when they widened Bridge, and I have always liked the authentic Mexican food in that area. I can't remember the name of the one next to his house, it too was bulldozed. I remember the shrimp cocktail was good from El Paisa but that was many years ago. Maybe we should do an authentic true Mexican restaurant review and include them on that???

The best tacos are deep fried.

If I see they're putting ground beef in tacos I leave.

If anybody ever serves you a Taco with lettuce, it’s not a real taco and if you are going to eat ground beef tacos just go to Taco Bell.

Not true in NM since the '40s. Sadie had been here since before most people were born. NM has never been CA or Mexico. Except for only 13 years after 1849 when they didn't want to be part of Mexico. I appreciate food from all over Mexico, but it's not NM. That's like a bunch of Chileans moving to Venezuela saying if you don't put mayo, ketchup and mustard on your arepas, they're not a real arepas. NM is it's own thing. In fact, most old school NMers eat enchiladas with saltines. These tacos in the video are excellent, but they're not old school NM tacos. NM invented the hard shell taco with lettuce, put in an NM cookbook in 1949.

The majority of Latinos in this state have always been and continue to be Mexican Americans and Mexicans and THAT IS A FACT! What ever differences there has been in the past with other Hispanics have absolutely nothing to do with tacos having lettuce. Real tacos do not have lettuce, ARE WE CLEAR? OR YOU WANT ME TO SPELL IT FOR YOU? If you love tacos with lettuce so much go to Taco Bell do a 1 hour review and give them a 100 and say they are the best you ever had since you love trash so much! And do not speak for all of us you 1D10T, do no say New Mexico didn’t want to be part of Mexico because you do not know that, that is your fried brain talking. DO NOT SPEAK FOR ALL OF US!
