Thank you guys so much for doing this video! Today is valentine's day and I wanted to take my wife out to a simple but good lunch, so we followed your review and went to the Rustic Burger and it was fantastic! It reminded me so much of the old Lotaburger back in the day when Mr. Blake made a fresh hot juicy green chili cheeseburger. We also ordered their cheese fries which were good too. 2 green chili cheeseburgers, 1 order cheese fries and a couple waters were $25. In the same building is an ice cream shop so we splurged and got that for dessert. Wife was happy and our first experience with Green Jeans and the Rustic Burger was great! Thanks again!!!

Shannon Frazier, I do a huge amount of research online for what are the current reviews already to determine who we will be on our list. I personally enjoy Rex's but the online reviews were not there to justify it making the list. Go onto Google, Yelp, TripAdvisor, Facebook, Zomato, etc and post great reviews of your favorite restaurants. It really makes a difference, and the locally owned places need the help of the hometown people. That is exactly why we created this channel. Hi and thank you Robert. Larry and Dorothy, owners of Frontier, did a great job of creating a home cooked meal restaurant, keeping the food consistently good and open at all hours for students. That made Frontier the most successful restaurant in the history of Albuquerque but not necessarily the best. Blake Chanslor started Blake's Lotaburger in 1952 and I grew up riding my bicycle up to the slide window at the little box on Sunset Blvd and ordering a burger and coke. Back in the 70's I would say Mr. Chanslor made the best green chile cheeseburger and I loved it. Today the restaurant chain is owned by Ronald C. Rule and it has become just another fast food hamburger joint. The concept is the same but the changes to the meat and bun have taken away the sloppy "salad" burger, as my wife called it, and is not a favorite of ours anymore. It is still better than McD's but it is no longer a Blake Chanslor burger. Kelly Rustic has that drive like Larry, Dorothy and Blake had way back when they started. A little less salt and it would be perfect! lol Truth is the top 5 burger places where all great and now that I know about them, I will be eating more green chile cheeseburgers at all of them.

Cheekos Takos, the smoky flavor of the burger at The Grill on San Mateo was fantastic. The comments I heard most from the reviewers was the green chile could have had more flavor and there could have been more of it. If it was just a review of a cheese burger I am certain they would have been #1. Loved the owner too, he is an awesome host!

I had a friend from out of state come visit and we went here for lunch. Big group of State Police officers were there from across the street, and they all agreed it is a great place. One year later and it is still great tasting and one of my favorites.

I love rustic burger!!!! Best burger in the state!

I agree but we are going after local business and Blakes is no longer a local restaurant they have become a franchise...and in my opinion Blakes is not as good as it used to be.... I loved Blakes growing up but they have changed so much to their way of making the burger that its just not the same.

Why those locations? Locally owned, within City and they all had the highest reviews on online reviews. Many including the winning one, I had never been to, and I have been here 57 years!

Bobs is the place but with red

Most of those are OK, I wouldnt say great. I have been to all of those places except NM Beef Jerky which I will now try. But personally, I like Sadie's and the Monte Carlo steak house, but if feeling adventurous, an hour drive west out to Bibo's Bar and Grill in Bibo NM on the Laguna Res. Incredible burgers and tacos. We like to ride out there on our bikes for a scenic ride, burger and a beer. Heck, even the stand-by chain Chili's on Central Ave in Albuquerque does a great local GC Burger.

Rustic on the green is good, but just the burger though. Their tater tots suck. There's 2 other places you guys should've tried. Burger Boy on NM 14. Also the 505 burger, from Meateor burger. At the downtown food hall. But in my opinion, the best green chile cheeseburger is at Big Mikes Burgers and More, in Belen.

They gave us a full kitchen tour and I agree taters are not the best but they have this burger where the Chile is so hot!! I cant finish it! They are good with the Chile.

Thanks for the input Ed! Never tried their taters so I will take your word for it. As for the other places, our criteria was locally owned, in the City and those with the highest reviews online. I like Big Mikes too.

Wow! Where did you do your research? Your top 10 did not include any of the classic and true top 10 locations. What about Frontier, Route 66, Garduno's, Range Cafe, Blake's, Los Cuatos, and even Twisters!!!

I grew up just above Atrisco and Central and that is where our real estate office is still today. That is my normal location, but where we went was on the path to the others burger locations.

Yo, try the bender burger at steal bender.. f*#Ken amazing....

Putting onions on a green chile burger is a mistake. Onions overpower the chile. Try your geen chile burger without onions and let the chile flavor be the star of the show.

I agree with you except I want the onion finely chopped and cooked way down along with garlic in the green chile. That is my favorite way to have green chile on a cheeseburger.

Utah, not even close, lol. The guy and girl are traveling nurses here working at UNMH that are from Florida. It was their first time having green chile. My sons and I are lifelong natives of Albuquerque.

Holy Cow used to be good, but now they have fly infestation. I saw flies all over the drinking cups, and the workers just picked up cups and poured drinks it. 🤮🤢

Idk what people like about Laguna Burger. It's an overpriced burger that taste likes someone's mom made it. When I had one at the original one in Laguna I was disappointed, it was expensive and the meat was dry and bland. I haven't had one at the ABQ location, but since everyone says the original is better there's no reason to try it. Oh and Bob's is gross how did it even make a best list. Meat is sus, and their green chile is slop.

@@dumplingsoupss I grew up at Atrisco and Central on that atrocious chile along with the real Lota Burger back when Blake Chanslor owned it and it was fantastic. We recently confirmed by an employee that Bob's Burgers has in fact changed the chile sauce recipe, but no farts were added. What is the best green chile burger in your opinion?

Let's be honest, ABQ's burger game is kinda mid. Outside of the green chile burger, there's not much else. And that burger, if were being honest, is nothing that special. Just a bunch of chopped Hatch chiles on top of the patty. That can easily be replicated anywhere else. Not impressed. You want great burgers, come to LA. Even our fast food burgers, like In N Out, are BOMB.

I agree! Every week I drive past the Laguna location going to the ranch and it is better but why? Same recipes, same owners but...........? Maybe it is like a hotdog at home vs over a camp fire. It just tastes better when it is cooked when it belongs!
