I made a lot of mistakes when i started 1. Not dodging 2. Tunneling 3. Throwing alone and too high at catch level 4. Running out to someone with a dodgeball 5. Dodging over catch 6. Not attending to balls 7. Ball control

I play nation ball where you have to watch both front and back but still the tips help a lot

One time i literally fell and they didnt shoot me. This was 100% luck because i suck

The biggest mistake I spotted with newbies was throwing the ball too late. Sure everyone does it every now and then but with the people I watched, they kept not throwing the ball and when they tried to they would be out before they could throw and other times the person they threw it at would be ready and dodge it easily because of how long it took. Another big mistake I spotted with newbies was how they very rarely tried to catch the ball (about 1 or 2 catches happened per game). At one point the newbies that I watched created a new rule where if you catch the ball then 1 teamate comes back into the game but that barely changed anything so honestly that was a big mistake that was always noticeable whenever I watched newbies play. Also I didn't make any of these mistakes except the 2nd one but even so, I rarely got to throw the ball anyway so it didn't matter that much.

I have never played a rule set where a catch didn’t bring a teammate in. You always get one in with a catch. I think the whole throwing late falls under the intimidation factor. A lot of newbies are scarred to approach the line. Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching!

I never once even when I was new did the turn around dodge that’s so bizarre and kind of feels weird to think about like turning around to dodge a ball? You’re still in the same place you just turn around Edit: just want to say that I knew how to dodge before I played dodgeball which is why I never did the turn around dodge

I see it with newbies who are afraid of the ball / scared of an accidental face shot and especially with newbies that never grew up playing sports so they haven’t quite figured it out yet 😅

one time I was just kind of standing in front of everyone and the other team was targeting me and someone threw the ball and it went perfectly in between my legs and I wasn't out. That was pure luck.

Yes dodgeball is slowly returning and I just started playing open gyms again. I plan to film some games once some leagues/tournaments start back up
