    Hi! I have a question, but first I want to tell you how happy I am to have found a KZread channel that reviews board AND take bigger feet in consideration! Yay! So, i have 11.5 (45 EU) bootsize and weigh 154 lbs. For most boards that are wide I am too light. Or when a board has its ideal flex compared to my weight it is not wide... Rip. I found the otto and that seems to be a good choise, but I'm afraid it might be slightly too stiff since I want to practice a lot of buttering too, besides the carving, keeping up speed and practicing jumps. The mega merc also grabbed my attention but the sizes seem not that wide, but then you say you had no trouble with toe/heel drag. What is your bootsize? And what board would you recommend, taking my out of tune body in consideration? :D Hope to hear from you so and finally make an end to my 4 week nonstop snowboard search grind.

    Hi friends! I loved the burton deep thinker and have since been craving a directional lively, poppy and hard charging snowboard. I really want the stratos to work but I’m shorter at 5’7 and a little stocky at 210lbs. I’m worried about float for the stratos but I’m looking for a board to charge the mountain, pop off features and nimble in the trees. Thought for a board like the stratos? Or would I be okay with the stratos. I like the ride twin pig and would go to the super pig but the edge to edge isn’t the quickest which I’d like. Anyways thanks!

    How does the Show Stopper compare to the Hometown Hero and Skeleton Key? I purchased the showstopper (based on your review) in 154 because 158 is out of stock everywhere. I absolutely loved how nimble it felt compared to my Flight Attendant. However I did feel the smaller size let go a couple of times. I am considering giving this one to my son and getting another board. However, I am wondering if I should wait for the Show Stopper to become available again or if I should get a Hometown Hero or Skeleton Key. I ride groomers mostly on the east coast with a couple of trips to Colorado.

    HI Afrim! We are big Fans of the Showstopper but do know the inventory is limited. The HTH is also a great option and likely easier to find in a longer model right now , being on of BURTON's Top Models there is a lot more produced year to year. For the terrain you have we feel that's a better choice than the Skeleton Key , the HTH has very stable torsional power and will be a great choice!

    @@user-lw8iv9cy8k Everyone is allowed an opinion :) We feel that if you are charging that kind of money , the consumer should receive a board that is ride ready - not the case with NS as they do not use a stone grinder to structure the base nor do you get beveling and proper de-tuning of the tip and tail relief zones - also , we are simply not fans of their top sheets for what the consumer is paying - very old lay-up process and for the money just doesn't hit the mark in our opinion.

    Torn between the Jones Stratos and Korua Otto as my mellow freestyle free ride board for pow, trees, side hits and carving. Home mountain is Mt Hood and PNW in general. Which is better for tight trees? Does the carving of the Stratos come anywhere close to the Korua?

  • @Chaugar
    @Chaugar2 жыл бұрын

    Hey guys, what makes the Burton board so quick turning? Is it the sidecut radius? I own a Stratos and I have noticed the same thing. I'm 5'4" and ride the 156. It's a ĺittle big for me but man does it make some quick ninja turns in the trees! Part of that is the 3d nose but still, the edge to edge transitions are so quick.

  • @markfawcett8142

    @markfawcett8142

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi Chau. A few design factors make the show stopper a real quick and easy turner. Definitely sidecut , and it has a bunch, especially in the front 1/2 of the board. The tail taper makes it a real easy board to tip this board over, and slightly quicker from edge to edge. The 3rd is the “squeeze-box” flex pattern which allows the board to flex very naturally under the bindings. One last thing is swing weight. That reduced volume ( and mass ) tip and tail shape definitely making a difference in how easy it swings / pivots. Your stratos has many of the same characteristics.

    Really great video 😊. It's was fun and short and all I need. Thanks your very much. I have a question I you have time. After 9 years, and a lot of traveling. I finally do snowboard again. I did this season with a capita Mercury. Live this bord and I found it very accessible, easy and fun. I was afraid I will be a beginner again^^. I have done blue, red, black with ice and Moguls, switch, trees and some small jump( freestyle it's not my strong suit yet). I did fine and only 10 falls in whole two days and I was very aggressive ( go out with friends). Unfortunately, the board had a default and I have to return it this week. So I am waiting a new stock for the mercury or looking for a new board. And the mega Merc is available on pre order my local shop and the 2023 have wide options now witch is great for 12.5 foot. Do you think the mega Merc is to much for a intermediate ( I think am am still an intermediate till the end of the next season) or I can go for it? I am 5.11"" 180lbs, 12.5 foot, I hesitate between 158w and 160w. Thanks again for your review, there are awesome.

    Hey! Not quite, if you compare the 159 Stratos to the 158 Showstopper some key details are: Stratos has a 7.5 meter sidecut and the Showstopper has 6.8m, and if you look at effective edge the Stratos has 1186mm whereas the Showstopper has 1137mm… which translates to the stratos drawing bigger, more drawn out carves than the Showstopper.

    @Mark Fawcett / @Shane J. / @Tribute Boardshop : Amazing reviews, always! So clean! What's Mark F.'s TOP 1 between those 5? Or TOP 2 on 10? :) Proposed others : Yes. PYL or Standard ; Capita Kazu Kokubo Pro ; GNU Banked Country ; Lib Tech TRS ; Burton Custom or DeepThinker can maybe be invited too (?), only if you agree (and/or any other favourites of yours' of course) ; if let's say he/you didn't have as much access to great snow conditions (just a little less pow oriented I mean / more resorts' like) in his day to day riding..? Agressive (holding) carves, but also playful pop and spring out ; I'm interested in everyone's opinion at Tribute B. and here ; but I feel my style of riding, weight and height is quite similar to Mark F.'s... I just have longer feet (11.5 US) and rarely see pow. Thanks a lot in advance! :)

    Mark is with the Olympic team right now overseas but for his style, he really liked the Otto/cafe racer from Korua. They would work very well for what you described, extra width for your feet and super fun to carve if you don’t have fresh snow.

  • @thecertifiedboss

    @thecertifiedboss

    2 жыл бұрын

    Honestly, this entire list would be fun at the resort, if Mark can’t lay a trench on it, it doesn’t make our list. With your boot size I’d look at the wider options like the korua Otto. Mark also rode the cafe racer last year and really loved it. Mark was laying trenches on the show stopper but it has more characteristics for fresh snow the the fore mentioned. You definitely names some killer boards. The deep thinker would definitely be invited to the party, and the HTH too. Mark is overseas right now with the Olympic team but I’m confident to weigh in since I was filming him for all of this and have some insight.

    Oooh, good call. Which is more important to you, riding switch or floating in POW? The Tranny finder has a good amount of taper and set back which make it float easier, you can put more weight on the nose and still float. The Otto can float but might burn your back leg a bit because it does not have taper… which also makes it feel more natural riding switch. Both are awesome.

If you are into a combo of park, and enjoy riding east coast glades and tight trees on the occasional pow days, 159 for sure.
