I got the m&p shield 9mm as my first handgun. I felt more comfortable with a small gun with a safety. It's been a year now, I bought the Glock 19 safetyless. Safety made me feel extra safe as I got used to handling a loaded firearm. Now I'm better prepared to handle a safetyless gun. 👍

Thank you for including the Ruger SP101. Too many people are hung up on a “gun like I see in movies” mentality it’s sad

How CRAZY!! Before even getting 5 seconds into the video, I told myself “I hope he mentions the S&W M&P 2.0 compact.” A minute and fifty seconds in and that’s the first gun he talks about. I personally have and conceal carry that handgun and wow do I love it!! I bought mine without an external safety in 9mm.

SP 101 in .357! Fantastic revolver. Ruger makes a great revolver.The SP 101 was once made in 9mm. Don't know when they quit making it. Almost bought one many years ago at a gun show. Till I pick up the Baby Eagle! Now that's a hand gun! Shawn

Glad to see the Vp9 made the list. Fantastic grip, great stock trigger, shoots extremely flat. I fall in love with it all over again everytime I take it to the range. I've taught several new shooters with it and they all comment on how easy it is to shoot it well.

Even though the G19 is my favorite and EDC. I do like the CZ and S&W MP2.0. I think HK is too bulky for me but they do make good guns

Great list! I honestly didn’t expect the Ruger at the end. I thought it’d be the G19, and was pleasantly surprised to see a wheelgun! Let’s face it, everyone knows the g19 is a great, safe choice. The fact it’s not on the list gives those curious to look into other options some great alternatives. So glad the VP9 and CZ were on the list.

Shout out to the CZ P-07 !!! I just got myself one and I'm absolutely loving it so far. I traded away my 1911 to get it. Single action is very light and smooth. I was just looking for something a little more simple that had a higher mag capacity and I still wanted a hammer fire gun. I very much enjoy the looks and feel of the P-07!

My first hand gun was the Canik TP9 SA, and after over 10,000 rounds it’s still running strong even though I don’t shoot it much anymore.

@@goitoutdoors also very similar to a walther ppq. You can swap barrels and they'll fit or even mags. Pretty sure the TP9 was based off of the PPQ lol.

Like your channel my 1st gun is GLOCK 21 , 45 ACP 13 rounds ,Gen3 , and comes with 3 mag, keep up the good work from Tacoma, Washington

I am definitely not a noob to guns, been shooting for around 18 years, but I love watching these vids. I have friends that ask my advice when purchasing a firearm, and these vids help keep my suggestions up to date.

My first handgun way back in the day was a Colt Cobra snubby. What a sweetheart of a 6-shooter!

Any good quality, reliable, compact-framed pstol chambered in 9 Luger will do a great job as a multipurpose range, carry, and home-defense gun. You neglected to mention that the CZ P-07 includes the parts to allow the owner to change the decocker into a manual safety, thus permitting safe cocked & locked carry and a constant single-action trigger pull on every shot.

For all around use, I’d be going with a CZ P-07/09. Other great choices are the M9A3, 19X, VP9 and P320

Just ordered the 2018 od green but what’s with the trigger wall? I’m gonna look into a mod or replacement system that fires at 80% pull over the 95% pull I was experiencing with my buddies 07 other than that it’s a great example of Czechoslovakian design and value

My first handgun around 15 uears ago was Taurus PT 24/7 pro in .40. Ive come so far since then. Now, Gen 3 g19 with rmr in an appendix holster.

DAMN! That TNT gun range is off the charts, I've never seen such a polished range in my life. No way am I going to visit with all the complicated gun laws in between my state and that state but I wish there were more like that!

You really got me hooked on that H&K VP9. It’s double my price range but I really like it.

I went with a Ruger SR40 for my first pistol. Its accurate, has a good feel in the hands, and haven’t had a single jam. It not good for edc, but for fun at the range and home protection, it’s pretty damn perfect. Anyone else have one?

All good choices. Absolutely love my 3" Sp101 and HK VP9SK.

My first pistol was a Beretta PX4 Storm, but I bought an HK P30 around 6 or 7 years ago and have carried it daily ever since. The European magazine release on the VP9 is intended to be actuated with your trigger finger. It forces you to take your finger off the trigger and you can hold the pistol on target during the magazine change; no need to alter your grip to reach for the release.

Chad, I absolutely respect all of your gun choices. Your presentation was flawless.. amazing speaker. Quick on the draw. Liked and subscribed!

My 1st is a Glock 19 Gen 5, love it.

I am happy to see you include a chunky revolver and the M&P 2.0 compact. I think folks should also know used guns for 2/3 the cost of new are a good option.

Own the Shield 2.0 and the compact 2.0 in both 9mm and 40. Love the M&P line of pistols.

Would also recommend the Ruger security-9. Can't beat the price for an awesome pistol.

Thystaff Thywill yes I'll agree that the lc9 is the better pistol but it sometimes a tad bit more expensive than the security-9. Plus the security-9 just makes for a better range gun.

I'll agree with the security 9. Got it a little while ago, have 2-3000 rounds through it and haven't had a single malfunction. The grip is great for people with smaller hands, while still working for giant man-paws.

My first hand guns Springfield mod 2 9mm G43 and Ruger security 9

Cheaper option for m&p and HK is the Canik TP9 SF pick it up for around $350 and just as good. Cheaper option for a CZ is The Tanfoglio Witness 9mm solid firearm

Great choices! I would add Sig P229 and CZ 75. 2 pistols that I was first introduced to some 30 years ago. Looking back either one of those will fit the multi-purpose role of home defense, concealed carry, range gun, and should hold their value better than polymer framed handguns in the long run

Did HK pay the California extortion fee to have the vp9 on the "Safe Handgun Roster"? I heard manufacturers have to pay 100K for each model of gun, which excludes identical models with different color finishes. So basically if HK wanted a black vp9, an OD green vp9, a black vp9sk, and a tan vp9sk, they would have to fork over 400K AND comply with the ridiculous microstamp. Is this correct?

I got the 2.0 in 40 great gun I must say. Wanted a Glock 19 in 40 S&W but not in a Glock. S&W took care of that problem with the 2.0 compact. Got the H&K VPs they are great but H&K is my favorite so anyway I like your lineup. And you are right about the safety in the Glock trigger I have never like that about Glocks. As for sights I like the HDs will be getting some for the 2.0 also.

Glock 19 CZ P10c Sig P320 X Carry Walther PPQ M2

Im working on getting an HK usp 45 compact. Shot it once and now ive gotta have it.

I picked up a P-07 a couple years ago, great gun, $460 out the door at the Dixie Gun Show! One thing to point out with this, and probably any other DA/SA platform: After the first 500 rounds and lots of dry fire practice, the double action had smoothed out a great deal, BUT when my mother (retirement age) asked to shoot it, she was unable to squeeze the 10 lb. double action trigger, and had a hard time manually cocking the hammer. For those in the market for a first gun, always try and get your hands on one and test fire it first, but if you have less hand strength due to age, size or ailment a striker-fired G-19 or M&P may need to be higher on your list. My mom immediately went and bought a grip strengthening tool! I think she was a little embarrassed that she couldn't shoot in DA. :-)

You can also get the Ruger SP 101 in .327 Federal Magnum which fits 6 instead of 5. It also can be loaded with lighter loads, .32 H&R Magnum, .32 S&W Long, and .32 S&W.

Sure glad you mentioned a revolver. It can be an excellent choice for many people, and the Ruger SP101 is a good one. Revolvers are simple and self contained. And have adequate fire power for most self defense situations.

I'll add, nothing wrong with a Glock but starting off on one could be detrimental later on. The grip angle is different than damn near everything else out there. That means you'd have to adapt to everything else, not adapting to just one firearm. M&P for life yo.
