    It's also one of the more grounded to reality of the bunch, being set in france in the middle of the 1500s when it was practically torn in two with religious persecutions and civil war. Certainly the darkest Disney movie.

    @@Nebulasecura Which is why the gargoyles should not have been in the movie at all. This is one of those times where Disney tries to have its cake and eat it too. If they really needed someone to have Quasimodo talk to for exposition, they should have gone the Cast Away route and have Quasi make an imaginary friend out of an inanimate object that doesn't talk. In fact, that would have highlighted just how lonely his life has been.

    "Friends On the Other Side" does everything a good villain song should: it furthers the plot while showcasing the villain's personality in full force. Facilier is among Disney's most underrated villains, and this song proves it, reflecting his duplicitous nature. It begins as a charming and theatrical tune before becoming bombastic and dark as the true nature of his magic comes to light.

  • @familyoftacticaldroids309

    @familyoftacticaldroids309

    I honestly came here just to see how highly ranked his song would be. I already knew Hellfire or Be Prepared would be #1, but I had to see where my man ended. :P I'd honestly love to see some backstory on Facilier - canon lore, not something that was just thought up by fanfic writers. All one can really hint at was he was brought from a poor upbringing, got himself into debt somehow, and had a scrapped idea of Mama Odie being his mother (which I can still see, but instead as his grandmother or great grandmother since in the movie, his mother's head is in his emporium). We otherwise only know who he was based off of. Seeing animated shows with character backstories would be neat. They did it with Star Wars (though not all animated), so why not actual Disney characters?

Top Fave: Be Prepared Darkest: Hellfire (runner up: My Lullaby, since I hadn't really watched either in years; I refuse to rewatch LK2 because Zira creeped me out as a kid) Most Hypnotic: Trust In Me (Kaa's song) I also love Poor Unfortunate Souls, but idk what to "award" it, LOL. I only used songs from movies I've at least seen fully once (and can remember). One reason why a lot of these in the vid aren't listed at all. Also, in Be Prepared, I swear, they are MARCHING! The hyenas are an army of Scar's. If they were anthro, they'd move differently, but since they're quadruped here, they can only do so much movement wise. Poor Unfortunate Souls- Pat Carroll always gives me chills when she says ' the boss is on a rollllll ' RIP ❤Youre Only Second Rate & Ex Prince Ali- Jafar is an iconic villian. from the songs to the look to the voice to the maniacal laugh ❤

    I was going to call hypocrisy on "Love is an Open Door" because it sounds even less like a villain song than "This is the Thanks I Get?", but upon reflection their spots on the list fit. Magnifico doesn't start out as a villain. He was a good man and king once with good intentions. But his ideology has become warped over the years and he clings to his power. And his song reflects his descent as he doesn't tap into black magic until about halfway through. Hans is a complete and utter douchebag who toyed with a young woman's heart. His song is the keep steaming pile of poop they rightly call it.

    Anyone else think "Second rate" is a bit of a jab at the VA for Genie in the Aladdin TV series and second movie (first DTV sequel) for not being Robin Williams? For those who don't know Robin agreed to be the Genie on the condition they don't plaster the Genie's likeness over all the merch and mention "by the way the genie is Robin Williams" so when Disney did that Robin was PISSED and refused to do the TV series and Return of Jafar. Therefore Disney got a little known actor named Dan Castellaneta to do the Genie but when fences were mended for Aladdin King of Thieves Robin Williams returned. I guess a guy named Homer was busy.

    Tbh, I honestly saw the same in a similar sense regarding Friends on the Other Side; Facilier ends the song with the "Are you ready" sequence...He dies to the spirits chanting "Are you ready?". He even said "...don't blame me, you can blame my friends on the Other Side", like Scar is trying to convince Simba that it was the hyenas that wanted him to commit the act. Idk, I may be overthinking it, but I found it kinda funny.
