So no one’s gonna talk about the pure chaos of Richard Ayoade and Greg Davies? Not only did they actively cause chaos, they detailed a segment where the other teams gave up a point to rectify a missed point and quite frankly gave us a joke that has legs like you would not believe.

That joke was a millipede, that joke was. It had legs like you wouldn't believe.
I can't believe that we didn't have a Noel / Richard combo. Those two were paired quite a few times and it was always chaos.

They're not dysfunctional though, they work well together compared to these teams which in turn lead to chaos.
The dysfunctionality of Rob and David is only heightened by the wonderful mess that is Noel and Russell
Noel and Russell seem to have a real friendship every time they appear together

Noel just seems like a guy who gets along with everyone. I love him and Russell, love him and Richard Ayoade, even in Taskmaster his back and forth with Mel G was not something I saw coming but possibly my favorite part of that series. He seems to know how to take any joke and run with it while still being respectful of the person who started the joke.

The Mel-B episode has gone from being my least favorite to my favourite episode. Once you get over your own irritation from her attitude, you start enjoying that everyone else is feeling the same and they're either trying to save it or make fun of her 😂

Honestly I agree about her initial irritation at the start of the show, but after a while I think she was playing along and going with it, she was having some fun with Micky, and the bit with the song title quotes was funny as "f" and show me another artist that wouldn't react the same to having their catalog quoted to them...

It's funny how people don't realise she was going along with it and playing up to the grumpy persona to give Mickey/ Jimmy something to bounce off. She's got a sense of humour, Christ she was on Celebrity Juice, doesn't get more self deprecating than that.

@MegaLamb I don't think that you, along with several other commentors, understand what they mean by chaotic. I realize that is a subjective abstract word, but in this context it's obviously meaning teams that were somewhat/sometimes hostile towards each other. But in a funny way.
I kind of adore the Mel B episode because whether she was actually annoyed to be there or just playing it up as a bit, it's so goddamn funny with Mickey and Jimmy

At least with CarrJack and Rob & Dave, whether they were truly dysfunctional or not, they were professional enough to play it up for laughs. Mel B was so uncooperative to the comedy that there exists a popular fan version of BFQ 2014 where she has been removed. Not just her scenes edited out, but wide shots of their table have her and her name plate erased from the frame, leaving an empty seat.

Not a massive fan of him generally but he dealt with Mel B BRILLIANTLY. Went up so much in my estimation.
5:06 Jimmy's reaction to that laugh actually made me physically laugh. It really was an EVIL laugh and it didn't help that she was backlit with red!
Never seen rob look so grim and dead in the eyes as when he's sitting next to david walliams

I was appalled by Mel B when I saw this the first time, but watching it again I think she was actually going for the attitude as her character and just leant into it so much it came off as her being serious. It seems like she cracks a few times and smiles.

Nope, I was in the audience, the whole lot was over 3 hours & she was rude & obnoxious lots of which didn’t make it into the show but her attitude caused the comedians to rip her which was hilarious 😂

i do think she was trying to do a character and i also do think it was unsuccessful, which comes down to her not having any experience in this field. anyway at least she was the cause of some great moments
the spice girl jokes were so simple but so funny
The Mel B episode is a lesson in how professional comedians can save an absolute disaster by just being professional comedians. The David Walliams episode is a lesson in how much David Walliams sucks.

David Walliams is so annoying.
Mel just had the misfortune of being someone who isn't good at improv/being funny on demand, tried too hard, and picked the exact wrong strategy to seem funny. It would have been better if she was the straight man who tried to win the quiz.
Jeez that leap from slim Jimmy to not-so-slim Jim caught me right off guard

Ngl I don’t hate the Mickey Mel B team, while she sucks at improve all her shady faces while they make fun of her is funny, and Mickey is really good at turning the drama into a bit that is funny.

I always thought the same. She had some moments when I genuinely laughed. It always seemed like she was trying too hard to be funny. And I hated that no one would laugh.

I would argue the Whitehall/Cordon debacle of 2012 was worse than CarrJack and Rob &Dave and the late show breakdown of 2013 where Dara and Noel decided they were at a festival was the other that immediately came to mind (although I do have to agree with the inclusion of the 2014 show as much as I like Mel B she was not good for the quiz)

Whitehall/Cordon were the first food in the quiz if I remember correctly, in any case, no one has done it better before or since. Acaster and the ice cream possibly has come the closest, but delivery pizza in tuxes, legendary.

@@jenelaina5665 while I didn't especially care for it, the incident where Richard Ayoade has a tray of sweets and Aisling and Rob stole it is pretty legendary.
It's funny that on the same show that Noel and Russell were a team that David and Rob were the most chaotic. Like who would have thought that would happen? 🤔🤷♂️

In regard to Mel B: It was a great idea to show new improv classes how not to act. She shut down every idea. 8:32 until about 9:32 - look how she takes all the energy out of that room with the way she responds to what's happening. It feels like Jimmy and Micky know where it's heading and are, to their credit, trying to save it. It's just not that serious, go along with it

When you think about it, it’s kind of unfair to put a singer up against some of the countries most experienced and successful comedians. I think she is naturally funny, has great presence. But as you point out, a couple of introductory improv classes would carry her along way. All the comedians are playing by rules that no one has explained to her. So the end result is hardly surprising
I can’t imagine anyone being an actual fan of David Walliams

It takes a special series of circumstances to be the most dysfunctional team on a panel featuring Russell Brand and Noel Fielding...
Having seen the original, it feels like this has a lot of footage that was not originally aired. And I feel a bit for Mel B as the edit that made it to air perhaps cut out a few bits that made her look better. Based on this, she doesn't feel out of place. Based on the show, she did.
mel and mickey just had that aunt and uncle energy going for them that i really enjoyed
When Johnathan Ross hit David Walliams with candy, you could tell Johnathan really meant it.

But I thought this was one of the best BFQs ever. Partly because of her and the actual comedians playing off of her personality.🤷♂️

Its easy to hate on Mel B for this episode until you realise in 2014 when this was recorded she was getting physically and mentally abused by her partner at the time. She deserves some respect for accepting the offer to come on the show to be honest.
