Frankly to only use beard hair seems okay in the crown assuming it' a good match with the scalp hair and the native hair camouflages it well. Why not? I would only want to do it this way in my situation. Hoping my surgeon is willing.

Nicely done. If only scalp hair is not possible a mix of scalp and body hair is by far the best if that is an option. Another thing I've noticed in my own BHT journey is not only does body hair vary in appearance and speed of growth in different regions of the body; but within the same region there are qualitative variances in caliber and curl. For example my chest has mostly straight hair but it begins to thin & curl as you go higher up. I've been careful where I select donor hair not only from a region of the body but within that region. BHT FUE requires even more experience than scalp FUE.

@@GetLocklab I love talking about hair loss and more importantly hair restoration. Happy to do a Zoom video with you sometime. I am in the process of making a KZread video about my own extensive hair restoration efforts (I've tried it all) but I'm taking my time with it. One thing to note is I live in Thailand. Depending where you live the time difference can be as much as 15 hours. But I am retired and my schedule is flexible. you can email me at old sport @ gmail dot com (no spaces) sometime if you like.

You might want to add the low survival rate of body hair grafts also.

  • @GetLocklab

The survival rate really depends on the surgeon. With most yes, it is low. With one of the top BHT surgeons in the world it should be fairly similar still to a good FUE surgeon.

I am a cosmetologist I have a question . As someone who relaxes hair, does keratin straightening , could I perform these chemical services on someone who has gotten a beard transplant on their head ? Or will this kill the hair grafts after being implanted after a year ? Thanks .

Is it possible to split oral minoxidil tablet into small portions, so I get 0.3mg. Is the pill evenly distributed? Im thinking loniten tablet 2.5mg from Pfizer and want to cut it into 0.3mg. Im really scared of using minoxidil, and want to start low.

You can split pills up, but that is not the way they are designed and so their “active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) amount is going to change when you do that.

Hey would this work? Lets say you have a poor donor region and with given adequate time the surgeon has extracted all the hair follicle from what was available on your donor region(back of head) to a point where the donor region has turned bald. (Like if you use all the hair from donor given multiple sessions). Now the back of ur head would be bald. Now if you transplant required amount hair from your chest or beard or pubics to back of ur head u could regain ur hair. Since most of the time we keep back of our heads shot and trimmed it would barely be noticeable and also we dont need much density in the back of our head. And then finally your front mid and crown should have been covered with good density from your own scalp excluding any other mixture of beard or chest hair. Is this possible??

  • @GetLocklab

There are two issues. 1 it would be extremely expensive. 2. If you're doing her hair is weak the transplant result on the top of your head is going to be weak. Doesn't mean it's completely impossible. Those would just be your two biggest obstacles.

I try to read and respond to every comment, but sometimes I miss them. Who's contact are you wanting and location? I'm not a surgeon. The surgeon who did my body hair transplant is Dr. Patrick Mwamba in Atlanta, GA. The surgeon who did the hair transplant of my head hair onto the top of my head is Dr. Daniel McGrath in Austin, TX.

@@GetLocklab Thank you. I’m interested in exploring the dense hair on my neck being transplanted to my crown. I’m 65 and had my first transplant at 29. That was the old days of plugs instead of follicular extraction, but for that era the Dr did an excellent job. I had two refinement surgeries in early 2000’s but by then the native hairs that had remained around the fringes of the crown in 85 were long gone and because the earlier surgeries had devastated the donor area there was not enough left to do much with the crown. My beard is very full and the neck hair seem less course then my face so I’m hoping I may be a suitable candidate for Dr Mwambe. It’s a big world and I just needed to be pointed in his direction.
