    Metro: Last Light's scene always sent chills down my spine, but it also showed how well done a scene can be written. While one pilot is absolutely terrified and is screaming "I don't want to die! I don't want to die!", the other is trying to calm him down. "We have to land the plane! Focus! We need to land!" He yelled in their final moments before they crashed into the theater...

    3:18 honestly the reaction of those cops in Far Cry 5 is probably the most realistic reaction that someone would have. Not panic or indifference but a 'is this for real?' look and feel. Nukes even the small ones cause detonations that are beyond human comprehension. So if you actually saw one it would likely be a 'wow' moment even for trained soldiers. But no one aged below 60 has ever seen one above ground detonate so its difficult for us to genuinely understand their power.

    For anyone that didn’t play fallout 76 before: What you saw in that video is what happens in a server MULTIPLE times in a single day. Sometimes even within an hour. People drops nukes in that game like child’s toy. And you can even select the place to drop that nuke. It can be your friend’s camp, any NPC or player or just drop it right on your head. Can you can do it as many times as you want. If there’s a game that allows you to abuse nuke, 76 it is.

    One thing most people don't realise is that almost all depictions of explosions in moves and games are wrong. The shockwave moves at the speed of sound, so, you hear nothing until the shockwave hits you. In most depictions you hear the blast instantly. But I find the realistic way far more scary especially in the case of a nuke. A blinding flash of light, silence the whole time, then a shock wave condensing the air into a cloud layer rushing towards you, then, *BOOM*.

  • @Goofballhero

  • @AnOceanOnFire

    @AnOceanOnFire

    9 ай бұрын

    @@cracker2016 That depends on distance. Further away the heat and radiation would have far less of an effect, however the shock wave would still have quite an impact until quite a ways out even beyond the flash zone. The "hot flash" is typical and more of a unique feature of nukes due to the incredible temperatures they produce. At closer range there will be a heat flash the second the nuke detonates as the heat moves at the speed of light.

    Total Annihilation, a really early and amazing RTS game on PC from about 1996, had nukes. That game was so ahead of its time, real 3D models before 3D accelerators were really a thing, and 3D mapped terrain so the units moved realistically, texture mapping, shadows, etc. Even a top end PC of the day started to struggle once you had 100+ units on screen. They had to set the unit cap to just 200, and 250 in multiplayer games, otherwise it became a slideshow. I remember fighting my friend in a LAN, and I knew he was going air units and in 10 minutes he'd kill me cos I neglected anti-air. So I built a nuclear silo and a missle, and I launched it straight into the middle of his base. He didn't see it coming and the nuke crossed the map as he watched the blue dot approach his base in horror. As it landed, there was a great white flash and a huge sound before both of our PC's crashed and turned off. Nukes in Total Annihilation were so powerful, they crashed your gaming PC when they hit. We had to ban them in multiplayer games until we'd upgraded. Wasn't until we upgraded to Pentium III's, like YEARS later, that we could actually use nukes in that game. Brilliant.

    @@marcusgardner7640 Awesome game, but ruined an MMX Pentium PC! XD I miss those days, when developers pushed the hardware to it's limits. What were they thinking? Releasing a game so demanding and so intense, when the average pleb was still running 486's and Pentium 100's? I'll tell you what they were thinking .... "Lets make this game FUCKING AWESOME! And worry about the minimum system requirements later....". I got a couple of 4K LG TV's a few years back, and still had a copy of TA installed with the 1500 unit limit patch. Telling you bro, playing TA in 2021, with a Ryzen 3700X and a 4K 43" LG Nanocell TV, in 1440p with a 1000 unit limit and the new enhanced AI (that builds like crazy) on the new map packs in an 8 player FFA, theres nothing like it! Soundbar was kicking out that classical soundtrack as shit was being blown up everywhere, and I could see it all happening, in that QHD resolution! Sick. STILL sick, 25 years later! The ARM and the CORE!

    Fun fact the modern warfare one, wasn't a fully effective detonation. The warhead was only at ground which, yes is still devastating, isn't as devastating as a warhead detonating at an optimal height of 1600 feet. At this height, not only do you have to worry about the EMP radiation and heat wave but you also have to worry about more fallout as radiation is higher in the atmosphere and can spread farther.

  • @zaccccccccc

    @zaccccccccc

    7 ай бұрын

    warheads detonated in mid air actually result in less fallout, not more. all fallout is is radioactive dust thrown into the atmosphere by the explosion. with a ground explosion there is much more dust thrown into the air. this is the reason you can visit hiroshima and nagasaki today and be fine but you cannot visit chernobyl.

    Most of those explosions are slower than real life, and they're way less deadlier , compared to Beirut's explosion, a nuke should leave you blind and possibly deaf for hours if not days. Many of the explosions are kind of what's expected of a nuke not what a nuke actually is.. it's far worse than you'd expect.

A nuclear weapon is just devastating it’s like 4 natural catastrophes together nobody can help you for at least 1-10 days

    Couple of Problems. If you are close enough to see the flash and you are looking at it, you are blind and have 3rd degree burns. The shockwave rushes away from the mushroom cloud, but soon after that... VERY soon after, the wind changes direction and blows toward the mushroom cloud (it is that air the replaces the air the the mushroom cloud as it rushes up. It rushes up because it has been super-heated by the blast. The initial shock wave is the hot air pushing air away as it expands, then the heat causes it to rise and the wind to change direction).
