The Slit-Mouth Woman is one of my favorite stories. There are ways you can escape her unharmed. One way is if she ask you if she's pretty, just tell her you're busy. Thanks to Japanese etiquette, she'll have no choice but to let you go. She may be a monster but she still has manners.

Just say, "Beauty is constantly subjective, always changing form like some sort of shape shifting organic thing. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Then throw a mirror up in front of her face so she sees her own reflection. "Are you pretty? Are you...beautiful?" She will probably be so distracted that you can finally shoot her through the mirror. Hopefully one remembers the gun.

Medusa had such a tragic backstory. She tried to run away from Poseidon's advances, but he chased her down and raped her inside the temple where she served as a priestess. Athena, the patron goddess of that temple, blamed Medusa for what happened instead of Poseidon. It's kind of a reflection of what often happens with modern rape cases. Turning Medusa into a gorgon was Athena's way of punishing her, making sure no man would ever look on her with lust again.

When I heard about the Dziwożona replacing children with 'Changelings' or even shapeshift themselves to seduce men, I think any remaining fan of My Little Pony can agree that a certain "Creepy bug queen" meets all the marks for that. Guess saying Dziwożona in a little kids show was too complicated or might upset the Karens that know of the satanic creature. Edit to add: I can't really take the Lamia and Harpy seriously cause of a certain harem manga/anime. Don't know if there are more of the monsters on the list, but I do hope they use some footage of the more lighthearted side of those mythical creatures.

It is said that this typr of Aswang manifests a charming and beautiful woman around 20s and/or 30s. They are very attractive women that lures young and handsome men for them to be feasted at night. Like Medusa, but they fly and hunts people and feast on them midair. Filipino Folklore.

So beautiful, sexy and powerful...men being rendered powerless in her very presents what the hell is there not to like? In my opinion, Athena did her a huge favor now no man God or otherwise will ever take advantage of you again. If they have ill intent, turn their no good asses to stone and put them in your garden.

Great list, There are some legends from Latin America such as La Llarona aka the Weeping Woman and the one I know from my family’s home country El Salvador, La Sihuanaba, said to lure men to bodies of water by her beautiful long black hair, only when they get closer she reveals her true face to their shock.

Of course Medusa takes the spotlight. Was once beautiful until she turned into a monster. I think I’m starting to know why the creators changed her name to Sedusa in The PowerPuff Girls. Instead of a scary mythical girl turning everyone to stone, she’s a badass smooth talking villainess in red and black with white skin. My mom was bullied behind her back. Her classmates freeze when my mom looks at them.

tbf, Medusa is more of a tragic story and asshole greek gods than a mean monster so if you are planning to stop something like the kraken, a beast supposedly controlled by greek gods.. well, you might as well put on a blindfold and ask for her assistance and she just might give it just to stick it to the gods that transformed her into what she is. Also, I would love to see a top 20 beneficial or good female creatures from myths and legends. as example, kitsunes(though they can be both good as well as bad depending on the scenario). Although they can be tricksters, occasionally mean spirited and most often to be pranksters, they are tied to a Shinto deity and there are also tales of them helping people like Inari Ōkami and its fox spirits help the blacksmith Munechika forge the blade Kogitsune-maru.

Honorable mention - MalO (Internet Folklore) Also known as SCP-1471-A, she resembles a black werewolf with her skull exposed. According to SCP lore there is an app people can download onto their phones that advertises never be lonely again. Those who do download the app will periodically receive pictures of the entity MalO at locations the user frequently visits. A few days later they receive pictures of MalO right beside them and finally the user will start seeing her in his peripheral vision and reflective surfaces. Her motives are unnkown.
